  1. Mine are still going fine, not snapped an axle yet, and I bash mine pretty hard.
  2. I have standard Savage X lower arms, and my IRC shocks are mounted to them using the mounting blocks included in the fitting kit, and I've not experienced this problem.
  3. Loving it Those diffs look interesting, are they TorSen?
  4. Subscribed. Would love one of these.
  5. You seem to be over thinking it. It's simply a universal servo saver that replaces the stock one. Not necessarily only for Tamiya. Whether it's an 'upgrade' depends entirely on the quality of your original servo saver.
  6. Mine have bent slightly, but no more than that. Because it's never got worse I've just lived with it.
  7. My IRC Big Bore v2 shocks were the reason I braced mine in the first place, I hadn't actually seen it done before. Here's what I've done:
  8. My Savage is a heavy old beast and I bash it hard. I've never broken a single shock tower. That said, I have braced my shock towers using Hyper 7 upper suspension arms going from the top of the towers to the TVPs. I agree on the Alza bulkhead braces though. Essential upgrade of you're going to bash your Savage anything like 'enthusiastically'.
  9. Looks great, but as mentioned it looks a little 'off' because it's not 100% true to scale. Loved my 110 but couldn't justify owning it anymore as I was constantly fixing it and it was a daily driver. Turned to the dark side now and have a Shogun....
  10. I really like the look of these, and they are looking pretty tough, but that torque twisting would get right on my tits.
  11. It's the battery tray from my Hyper, it's from a Hyper 7 conversion kit, the make of which escapes me know... It's mounted by being bolted to an aluminium plate that passes underneath the modified radio box.
  12. Why? Because he has a hobby? I'm pretty sure you're on these forums because you've got an R/C hobby, so why is this guy any different? Sure, it's pretty extreme, but why be so judgemental?
  13. I've run my Savage with them in the past, here it is with a Slash shell: And here it is with a Blitz shell: They did require a lot of trimming to clear the wheels. I love the look, but they are a pain when jumping due to parachuting.
  14. The Savage platform itself it great, it's just the Octane version that seems to be an utter ballache
  15. I'm biased, but I do love Savvys. Such a great platform, and can be made into pretty much anything you want it to be!
  16. Out of interest, why don't you want to sell anything that's been used? Will you simply bin it?
  17. Yes it does exist, Traxxas EZ-start. http://traxxas.com/products/parts/accessories/5270ezstart2system
  18. The roll cage replaces the handle. It's got a built in handle but it's plastic.
  19. Mine started out as a bog standard 3.5 too. Too many upgrades to list later, and this is how she stands now: Sure, it's a bit of a 'Trigger's brush' in that there's not really anything of the original truck left, but it's a good illustration Nitroholic's excellent point about Savages, they are such a blank canvas that you can go anywhere with them! Here's my thread documenting the evolution of mine: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/142158-the-evolution-of-drexels-savage/
  20. I've never understood people's obsession with the top speed figure. It's just a number. If your truck is running right and it feels fast enough for you, then it is fast enough, the actual figure is irrelevant.
  21. As said, an all alloy Savage would be useless at anything other than looking 'pretty' sat on a shelf. Diff upgrades should be your first point of call. Thicker TVPs from the likes of Innovative-RC or Alza Racing are a worthwhile upgrade, not only do they add strength, but they improve the way I'd drives because they lower the centre of gravity. Another weakness that is worth addressing is the bulkhead braces, they are prone to snapping after heavy one-sided impacts, and often take the bulkheads with them. Alza Racing bulkhead braces completely solve this problem. Alloy does have it's place, but only if you use decent manufacturers and use it where it actually has real benefits (like the above mentioned bulkhead braces) and not just to look shiny. Savage X A-arms are more than up to the job, my truck is heavy and I'm yet to break one. If you have the old style arms, an upgrade to the Savage X ones are very worthwhile. With a mixture of Alza and IRC upgrades my Savage is pretty nuke proof now, but there's no need to go that far, just upgrade to Savage X spec whenever you break things and enjoy it!
  22. My EZRUN is exactly the same. Cuts way too early.
  23. They're basically oversized truggy boots (pin style) on oversized dish wheels, with a low profile. Just like a normal truggy wheel/tyre combo, but bigger. They aren't as heavy as a proper MT combo.
