  1. Hi guys, looking at getting my first scale kit. I like the look of this to ease me into it but I have questions about running gear. When picking a motor/ESC combo do you have to take all of the prop dimensions into account? I'm not by any stretch of the imagination looking for a great deal of speed, just enough for me to pootle around a lake at a happy speed. Can anyone recommend a current rating for me to look for? Cheers
  2. You can get screw removal tools that are like a tapper but with the thread the other way. You turn it in to the left, the deeper it gets, the more purchase it has on the screw, it begins to turn the screw out. I got a cheap little set from Boyes but you might get a smaller set off eBay.
  3. Yeah there's Racer magazine, and my local specialist magazine shop used to stock a little American one which was quite good.
  4. I stayed in Pembrokeshire a few months ago (between Pembroke Dock and Tenby). Not a model shop in sight, I was really disappointed. And like hell was I driving all the way to West Wales models...

  6. I had a vice before it was RC, it was fondly known as plastic crack. My action figures are coming out of storage for sale on EBay. Will be listing a couple every Sunday I think. They will be mostly Marvel and comic figures. Maybe some Star Wars. Will bump every time I've added new ones. All of my items can be found from the seller daniellebirch1 (the missus's eBay account) http://m.ebay.co.uk/sch/daniellebirch1/m.html?isRefine=true
  7. I started a new job last week, at my interview I was struck by two things in the reception, a scale model of the whole plant (we make Coal) in a table sized glass case, the other was photos on the wall of a stock car like this sponsored by my company. Clearly my first thought was "That would look good as a Mardave". So that is going to be a future project of mine. The photo probably dates to a similar time as this rc.
  8. I've got maybe 10-15 hours heli simulator experience. I'm just pricing up for a quad before I start to simulate that rather than helis.
  9. I've seen the kits around but heard it was a bit cheaper to get together yourself. Is
  10. Anyone know roughly how much the shopping list of those parts runs to? It's far too awkward to work it out on this POS phone.
  11. Good idea is to join the club and talk to the members, they'll tell you what's best to run there and what will be competitive. They might even have an old racer they're wiling to part with.
  12. Last I checked HPI had all manuals on their site, even for out of production stuff.
  13. Is everything nice and tight when you put it back together? No leaking?
  14. There's vids of pan cars on YouTube which take off because they're going so fast, and they are very aerodynamic and a bit heavier than a 1/10 TC I think.
  15. conventionally batteries have the female connector as this gives less chance of shorting on any nearby metal.
  16. I have a Tomy GX and that has a similar sort of chassis. Foam tyres though, good for absorbing impact, bad for traction on laminate. Nippy little bugger.
  17. By the looks of it its a standard 2 pin pc fan connector. I guess find someone with a broken PC/laptop and rip it apart or ring a local PC repair shop, might have one about to go in the bin you could have for pennies.

  19. Is your current fan not just soldered on? It is on my 35 A so when I upgrade I'll just solder the new one in its place. Edit: I see now on other HW ESCs there is a plug. Mine is an EZrun. I guess you don't want to take the plug off your existing fan?
  20. Oh yeah course, but it doesn't matter what people say there's always a Firestorm fanboy
  21. I'm gonna say Firestorm before someone else does.
  22. I've read into this and alot of people argue about silicone all the time. Really heated arguments for that matter. I use a playing card on my exhaust manifold as my LHS has rubbish stock for gaskets. Brown paper has been reccommended by the owner aswell and he has years of experience with planes.
  23. Not harder just a tad more expensive. Rather than buying a new esc + motor you would need a new esc + motor + rx. Assuming you can use a TX you already have. Or fit a rx you already have.
  24. Rx and esc are combined so when you upgrade you need to take that into account. I really like the look of it and I read a promising review in RC Racer. I'd definitely consider one as they're about
