  1. Will more than likely be buying a set soon for my firestorm
  2. Sounds like maybe you've got something stuck in there.. or rust? Take it apart as far as you'd dare go then give it a good clean i'd use car brake cleaner as it's alcohol and dries up. However i'm sure someone will tell you exactly how to clean them.
  3. I just pull out my esc/receiver and put them in a plastic bag hold it tight, take the motor out and batterys then throw it in the tub and give it a good washing lol. Dry it all off with gt85 and alls good
  4. Next time can i recommend yeadon tarn bmx track? Perfect for racing/bashing. And only 10 mins away from nunroyd.
  5. What sort of car are you after? Or just any suggestions at the moment? First off i'd say the HPI E-Firestorm. It's mega cheap at
  6. Might only be able to make it this afternoon at some point, come down with a chest infection and had a bad night coughing up ****. Got steroids so might be able to make it later on.
  7. 6.15.. surely no-one will be at nunroyd by lunch time seen as it starts at 9am? hah
  8. I've just got the powerHD Metal servo for my firestorm.
  9. Got my new servo fitted Will be there 9.30-10ish.. want some kind of a lie-in! haha.
  10. So here's my guide on strengthening the chassis. I did this due to the fact i broke part of it myself just bashing it. So rather than just buying a new chassis i decided to fix and improve the strength! This is what happened.. As you can see the little plastic wall between the battery tray and the servo tray snapped, causing the battery to move in to the servo causing the servo to break too To fix this problem you will need to do some plastic welding. And to do this you will need: Soldering Iron Open space with plenty of ventilation as you'll be burning plastic! Some hard plastic(I used the cover on my scientific calculator which i never use, due to it being extremely strong plastic) And a steady eye and patience! - Start off by giving the area a good scrubbing with soapy water just to get rid of any nasty bits there. Let it dry. - When that's clean get your soldering iron nice and hot. - Try and hold up the plastic that's broken off, fortunately mine slotted in and i could use both hands. However hold it in place, get your soldering iron and start melting the 2 edges together. You want to keep a nice smooth motion going, don't stay in one area for too long or else it will burn through the plastic! - Once you've plastic welded one side, you need to do the other side. So turn it round and start doing the same again. Not too hard is it? Almost like glueing.. - Now that it's together looks pretty neat, give it a minute or so to cool down. Then you can start putting a little pressure on it to see how well your joint is. - When you've done it well enough grab your piece of hard plastic. What you want is a rectangular shaped piece that slots behind the part you've just plastic welded. Here's a picture of the final piece so you can see what i mean. Here you can see the grey plastic i have plastic welded to the chassis to provide a) More strength which in turn will provide less chance of breaking again. - Make sure you put this thin but strong piece of plastic on the battery side, as you won't be able to fit your servo in if you put it in the servo tray. As you can see the above picture looks very messy this is just due to the fact i havn't tidied it up and filed down the excess plastic. This is very easy to do and will only take you 15 minutes maximum but i have already noticed a massive impact on strength on this area that crucially has cost me
  11. Sounds like a good thread. As you can see if you go a few pages on in this electric thread i broke my firestorm . Snapped the chassis(well the little wall between the battery and the servo. So i've plastic welded it and it's fixed. But i don't want this happening again! So i've got some plastic and cut it to the shape of a rectangle that fits beautifully between the chassis walls which acts as a little brace and makes the wall i snapped thicker. Don't think i'll be breaking that again If anyones interested i'll post some pictures up, as i'd highly recommend doing this because it strengthens the chassis on an area where i've found isn't so strong.
  12. How robust it is. Parts are easily available due to it being a HPI branded item. And it's very very tough. I've given it a right bashing and after a month of caining it i've finally managed to snap the smallest thing. It's pretty quick on 8.4v batteries. I'd say 19ishmph. With a brushless motor system and 2s lipo your looking at 35ishmph? Ask anyone on this forum though, they will all recommend the e-firestorm for a first car. It's unbeatable at that price!
  13. For the price of the firestorm you really can't go wrong. It's a whole lot of fun straight from the box. You just need to buy a battery and charger, but these arn't too dear. I would recommend a 8.4v nimh battery over a 7.2v though. Much more power in that extra cell.
  14. Cheers lads! Think it'll more than likely be the powerhd one then. What's this digital about? hah
  15. So i've cracked the casing on my servo so the plastic cogs are showing. Hence needing a new servo. Off to modelsport at weekend to buy a new servo but just wondering, would it be worth spending the extra
  16. Ye everything is stock. Looks like I'm buying a powerhd pro ha. Would you recommend one? Over say savox?
  17. I was thinking that. Just didn't know if i was being too bodgey! lol.
  18. Well, i hate to say it, but i've finally broke my firestorm. This thing has seen a massive whirlwind of dog poo hit it. I've given it a right bashing.. Safe to say something has finally broken Was bashing it over a small mound to be fair to what it's usually been getting.. Guessing the batteries shunted into the servo wall causing it to crack, which has led to the servo breaking I can no longer secure the servo to the chassis using the servo mounts as you can see from the third photo they've snapped clean off!! So i think i'm looking at sticking it down with some velcro now. As you can see from the first photo due to the mounts snapping off it's left the servo case wide open. Should i try and bodge it by plastic welding something over the hole? And just attach with some velcro to the chassis? Or you reckon it's time for a new servo? What would you recommend for the servo wall? Araldite? Plastic weld? I'm not going to buy a new chassis for the same to happen. This car was designed to be bashed, i fully accept that it's my fault it's happened! Still can't say how great these cars are though!
  19. For the price a lot of people go for the Fusion Ethos. My link Would be the charger i'd buy.
  20. Go for the firestorm, as you know from your nitro their pretty indestructible. I've given mine a right paggering. A dogs had it in it's mouth, it's done cartwheels summer saults the lot! hah. I'd go for a 8.4v battery you'll see the power a lot more than a 7.2v. However if your thinking cost wise to save for brushless and then a lipo battery you can start off with a 7.2v, but make sure you get a charger that does both nimh batteries and lipo, saves money in the long run On ebay awhile back there was a firestorm for sale at
  21. Ah! Haha. I'm no good at painting so would definitely have to be already painted. Quite like the ford f350 one
  22. I live near the airport, and would like to start racing/bashing at a local club. I've got a firestorm so has to be off-road. Anyone know of any place? Thanks.
  23. Just what i wanted to hear Many thanks mate!
  24. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8-5T-BRUSHLESS-MOTOR-NEW-BULLISTORM-SENSORLESS-EZRUN-/140530638106?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item20b8475d1a#ht_500wt_949 That's the one i've seen. Says sensorless there, but what's the difference?
