  1. Thanks, I was thinking of starting at the 40 mark, but the car is not that heavy. I will be having a play - suppose I could just compress the old shocks between my fingers and take a guess comparing them to what I want - fortunately I have loads of different weights kicking around from various cars.
  2. What weight shock oil do people run with in Rally cars? and what springs? I have just bought some aluminium Shocks for my M40 chassis, but have no idea where to even start with the oil. I know I want a stiff setup, as the front end rolls around like a boat when steering on any surface with the slightest grip, but I also want to try and keep all 4 wheels in contact with the ground as much as possible. I know I will end up having to change the oil several times until I settle on what I like, but I have no idea where to start! Thoughts?
  3. Having grown up in Walthemstow and Leytonstone, it brought backl memories when you mentioned the old Lesney factory, shame it is now flats. Anyway - reminiscing over, there is another approach, beat them at their own game. If that spot has been used for a number of years and there are still enough people using it, get the council to designate it as an area for RC cars. The areas around the tree roots can be fenced off to stop further damage and perhaps even add a little interest. Just a thought. As to their mention of more than 1 RC car, this is still England and not quite a communist state, more than 2 people are allowed to meet up, and if they happen to have rc cars! Maybe they should ban the state funded single mum's with a new rule banning more than 1 pushchair on the marshes at any one time. Keep us updated whatever way you go -
  4. In my experience doing that got VERY expensive, and I never had any new RC stuff.....
  5. You must work in IT! people that say something is "crap" because it does not do what they THINK it should, and not what it actually does. EX Wives who think they can still tell you what to do.......
  6. Discovered that the standard esc in a scout burns out if you overweight the wheels (With Mud)
  7. Yeah come on - spill the details - I am getting really close to buying one of these
  8. That looks fantastic! will be watching for this to go on sale! Thanks for the links
  9. Any idea when the trailer is going to be available on the website? and what kind of price?
  10. I look forward to your comments on the two, I am looking at the wraith too, but like the look of this car, I think I can overlook most of the drawbacks, the battery issue is a bit of a put off - but not necessarily a deal breaker.
  11. That is what I meant - although I got negative and positive the wrong way round I was just actually trying to say that it looks like there is POSITIVE camber from the tyre wear, which in the picture looks as if it is on the outside of the tyre. My excuse is I am supposed to be working, not browsing....
  12. you could try adjusting the camber on the wheels so that the bottom of the wheel is further out than the top - the tyre wear on the last pic looks as if you have negative camber at the moment - which could be why you are having so much trouble rolling.. EDIT - And I am not referring to the broken wheel before some smart-@
  13. Now it is running I will do, but it will need a little more weight up front as the stern was going under on sharp turns with just 2s

    TV Licence!

There is an easy way to Fight the system. Don't watch the TV - then you do not need a license! Why should we not pay for a service that we use? I presume you also disagree with paying for DVD's? How about music, is it part of the barbarian system that makes us pay for that? I would like to see what happened if you went to the cinema expecting not to pay so that the actors do not get their exorbitant fees. I own a TV but have no TV license. I informed the TV licensing that I do not view broadcast TV. I have had the TV licensing "Goons" round, they where professional in their manner - I allowed them to check that my TV is not attached to any equipment that receives a broadcast signal. Everyone Happy.
  15. Just for something different, treated myself to a Hobbyking Swamp Dog.... Had a maiden run last Saturday..

    Carisma GT10DT

Any company that made a product that did not fail would be committing commercial suicide. I used to work for a large catering equipment manufacturer that made a range of mixers in the 1950's and 60's that are still going strong now, which means they have not been able to sell new models to kitchens that own them for 50 years - no repeat business at all! Needless to say their current range of equipment is not built in the same way......

It looks to me as if they where going for a Short course and changed their minds 1/2 way through
  18. Not trying to teach you to suck eggs - but have you tried to reverse the trigger so push is pull and pull is push ?

  20. Baby wipes work great - especially when at the bash/track. GT85 or other Teflon spray BEFORE bashing is a good idea too - after a few applications the mud/grass does not stick anywhere near as much and makes cleaning much easier - I always clean and then spray GT85 over the plastics/metals (avoid the bearings and re-lubricate them regularly)

  22. I think a majority of people that fall in to the "modeller" category must have a degree of OCD (cdo) and that is probably part of what attracts them to the hobby - keeping a workshop( Read kitchen/livingroom bedroom) tidy with things to hand makes sense as it is easier to work and keeping parts catalogued in bags an boxes is all good sense. The answers here seem to go along with this as most people who have replied seem to be a little obsessed. Of course now I have said that - I have spares all over the place - bits I have bought then forgotten about an had to buy another when I needed it etc. they are in Garage, workroom, living-room and even some in the Bathroom (recently started on an RC boat) but all my tools are in the correct places! and screws are only allowed to fraternise with identical screws. SO I am 50% there!
  23. My hyper 7 refuses to run at one bash spot I go to (Thetford) I can tune it the day before - or not bother. makes no difference it will not start there. Get home and it fires up straight away...
