  1. I think the storage charge is between 7.6 and 7.8 (maybe 7.8 volts*) *please don't take this advice over your lipo charger's actual storage result I have an accucel 6 which will storage charge or discharge a 2s lipo to 7.6 and sometimes it does take ages since the max is 1A either way (charge or dis). I am happy with it but don't mind occasionally stopping it a little high since I once read this idea that storage charge might be ok a little above 7.6
  2. I've noticed a much better performing RC10B4 with lighter springs and no idea what shock oil... just thought I'd throw that at ya
  3. Which RC? In some I suspect the steering assemblage to be a factor. Most likely to be the servo though
  4. Last good thing I got (less then a week ago - I hope that counts!) was a Speed Passion Revention R ESC with Speed Passion v3.0 8.5t brushless sensored motor combo. Wow, was that one sweet package. I would have thought a little harder about the bargain ebay purchase (20 mins they ran it before selling it) had I known that with the newest ESC settings the 70amp R is only good for around a 7.5 turn motor. Though having run it around 3 times quite well, and updated it and set it up with my PC, I think it's a good value proposition compared to the ezrun stuff (for example). For instance, if I recall correctly the SP motor is supposed to be 20% more efficient than comparable motors. The SP bullets (in my case, of course, soldered to the ESC) are lovely, the motor is lovely, the ESC is lovely (albeit with a slightly loud fan) and the outcome? Here we go: Previous: Mamba Max Pro, Novak Ballistic 8.5 motor, some timing advance and extra punch curve (a timing one I think) on the ESC programmable settings (in the software). New: Revention R 8.5 combo, 7.5 degrees advance on the ESC programming, max DRSS3 setting. Result: The Speed Passion was a fair bit faster, and a lot more purposefull across the throttle range. I'll have to look again at the settings wiring and timing of the previous setup - I didn't expect it to be quite so outclassed. So there's a Revention vote from my end, though they should have gone to 100A entry level speed controller for the perfect bashing setup.[it comes with a really short sensor wire - bewarned off road users!]
  5. Thanks! Which good ones might have the standard shaft diameter? I have a load of 48dp pinions to retire otherwise I s'pose... baaad
  6. my first report in this forum thread Took out by Associated RC10B4 for bashing. In the local park, found a nice mix of dirt/grass/tarmac/verges in an oval. Ran two IP 6000 packs (80c and 90c) through it, with a speed passion's Revention R 8.5t combo. Had a complete blast, got a little dizzy turning in an oval, and a good 45 mins bashing from the two packs. In an oval, with the tyres free wheeling 1/2 the time due to the low grip, I managed to produce some nice motor heat. Stopped to let it cool a couple of times. Can't wait to do it again, or with my bro, some of the most fun I've had in RC. I'll give the original B4 this; it sure does land and turn on one front wheel impressively. Around 6 forward flips or even sideways flips, 5 to a drivable orientation
  7. Is there a 1/10 size buggy or truggy that could take a 550 (which is I guess what this is?) I'm in the happy position of having a multitude of 540 brushless motors and ESC, and am wondering if my best batteries wouldn't now be suited (80c and 90c) to a 550 or 1/8 motor geared way high... (just askin'

    Lipos

I recently got a couple of IP Lipo, one new after a recommendation here and one from ebay (ninja'd an early BIN listing it was second hand and posted). I've not tried nano-tech, not gens ace, nor turnigy, but I have tried cheap make-up-a-spec lipo before and these blew them out of the water. They were just brilliant. I think the completely new one was a touch soft but that should sure up once it's had a few cycles through it. The one that has, was amazing. If you are bored one day, and have a little money to spend, I can think of far worse ways to fare with the money than to buy an SMC or Intellect (IP) LiPo. At least until bio batteries. And I haven't tried the flat discharge curve (new) ones.... ! ENJOY
  10. I don't have a lot of experience. I do agree with the acceleration over speed bit (that's why it's fun to change your gear ratio). Did have a lot of fun bashing a 10.5t motor and moved to a 6.5 turn, it's fast (not really too fast) but the runtimes are lower. I think overall I prefer the 10.5 though not sure I could go back now since I'm used to the high speeds of the 6.5. I changed the gearing a bit. I have an 8.5 also I'll be trying in a few days hopefully. It's a good one too, looking forward to it. I have a nosram 4t sitting in a box lol.
  11. Morning Evssv I checked the hobbyking uk warehouse site, the cheapest batteries in the 2s specs you quoted seemed to be around
  12. Could you drop us a link? Given them many cycles yet?
  13. enjoy! The tamiya kits are good starter kits and well supported worldwide I think my first RC was a mardave but I was lucky. Also had a manta ray back in the day.
  14. Thanks Si Please do update this thread with how you find the nano tech Ultimates when you like. I have still not tried my IP pack and am hoping to do so soonish. Maybe next week! My gold TRAKPOWER 2s lipo are good for my bashing needs so far. I am hoping to coax my Brother as well. ps. Praet0r87 wow! good batts.
  15. Yeah he was super nice and delivery was free Thinking I should have gone with this one (SHV) for the
  16. Hi Tug which packs did you refer to? Surely not all of them ?
  17. The body mounts are a fixed height I found that of the three shells I have, one (which unfortunately is damaged - all my stuff is 2nd hand) will fit snugly over the speed controller. It has a raised portion and appears to be the b4.1 one pictured below: I guess I will look at mounting on the central flat battery bar though as I say I haven't seen it before. I've just done a short internet search and I'm seeing people choosing to use shorty 2s lipo packs and create their own mounting on the rear of the buggy using the freed space in the RC10B4 2s Lipo battery compartment. http://www.rcten.com/threads/sc10-esc-mount.4621/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh3xRIPcUss I don't really want to loose the use of my 3 current full length Lipos so I won't be looking to move in this direction as of now. I will simply need to try the ESC on the bar someday, or just buy a new shell which will provide the correct fit as pictured above. Or just cut "a hole" in my current 2 shells, to allow the GTB and my Mamba Max Pro to see clear air through the bodyshells. Is it a good idea to have the fan exposed on a 1/10 brushless buggy, or just a little too exposed? Thanks again xD
  18. The ESC is calibrated (as of the last run), yes. I think it may fit in the cab though take a look at the pictures, though in that position I'd have to mount it on the (FT) battery bar, which I've never seen another b4 user do... Thanks very much for the advice with regards to heat and cooling.
  19. Hi Everyone I have a Novak GTB electronic speed controller running a silver/purple Novak Brushless 6.5 motor. I have a couple of questions about it, searched though didn't find my answer, I hope we can get it outside again :... - Is the cooling fan required in all configurations? What might be the highest speed motor that it could run without the fan? It doesn't really fit in my RC10B4 under the shell with the fan still on it. (perhaps someone asked Novak?) - Can anyone guide me in my quest to move it into mode 5 (with reverse)? I have tried to follow the manual's procedure but I'm not very well and it didn't seem to work - I think some of the LED colors aren't working or I just wasn't able to see the blue one flash (for example). I seem to be stuck in mode 1 (Forward only) of 5. Thanks so much everyone Best wishes
  20. Just a quick update I ordered an IP {{Intellect IPCC2S6000V9}} 2s Lipo from demonsomething uk (it was 50 quid : # though cheap enough considering gens ace was like 36 on an offer) and it should arrive tomorrow. I still await contact from SMC US ofA for the possible other order of 1 - 3 lipo + import duties I went ahead because my strongly considered 2nd reply in this amazing thread suggested they were
  21. Hi I would like to add the HPI Warp 5700 to this request, it's another slotless brushless motor. I am thinking I would like one of these, possibly with a suitable speed controller based on the price we may agree, because they are 'slotless' I think my Mamba Max Pro would probably handle one if it had to, though I'm not sure, this is a bit speculative of me (given that!) but hey I hope no-one minds too much However if someone has one of the Cirtix stuck in the bottom of their pit bag or languishing in a box or even RC, and would like to help me with my 2s bashing efforts, I'd love to wire one of these up. I'd like one in ok or good condition and not too strongly used (so not like 400 runs lol). I would consider other slotless motors or combos, though I would prefer sensor-ed . That's it for now folks, thanks for readin'
  22. Neil - thanks for that. The HPI is a
