  1. Would you swap the chassis for a Tamiya Toyota FJ body?
  2. I've got the same set up, even a sport tuned on 1.9's is prone to overheating the motor or ESC. I'm swapping it out for an Igyfied Dirt Tuned this weekend and seeing how that goes.
  3. Love my rally, it may be old but it handles great.
  4. TB01 is a beast and other than the plastic spur it's metal gears throughout. It's a heavy rally car rather than a lightweight road car. I wouldn't run something that fast though, I have a 4300kv in mine and that's silly speeds.
  5. Newer version, like Tamiyas TA01 evolving to the 02/03/04. SWB sprints are like the TA03, comes in standard and short versions, seems they both liked the Pug 206.

    Upgrading

Does your old Subaru have two servo's and a 'pointy arm' speed controlle and resistor? Sounds like the classic run on when the battery ran low enough for the servo's to stop. Modern electric speed controllers slow down and stop Any pics of your old car?
  7. I love these too, if you go too high on the suspension the left hand steering arm catches on the gearbox case and lifts the inside wheel when you turn left. I ran mine on Losi bead locks with 2.2 Rock Claw tyres, it was great. My sons one runs Blitzer rear wheels and the geolanders but they look a little small.
  8. If you've got a small radio, tune it to 612 medium wave and walk to the end of your garden and listen for excess noise, I do this when looking for interference effecting phones and wi-fi (I'm an Openreach engineer). I've found it works finding dead spots for old 27mhz radios too.
  9. One of the best I've found was Cleveland Models, it was run by a guy called Simon I think. (Not been there in about 5 years.) He had a couple of boxes of most kits, a good supply of spares, good access to hop ups and was really good for advice too I remember being in there when someone brought in a cheap Chinese nitro and asked him to fix it, he took a good look, advised them well and sent them away happy with some good sound advice. Not many around who would do that.
  10. It's because it's non sensored, they all do that on part throttle if you do a gradual squeeze on the throttle. I gave up with non sensored in the cars I needed good low speed control with. Sensored motors are much smoother or I swapped back to brushed.
  11. It sounds like they are using that bylaw as a 'but what if this happened!!' umbrella to cover all possible scenarios. The 'annoyance of the public' quote is the killer there, all it needs is one complaint and they have got you.
  12. Hotel 7950 is in mine, busted 4 or 5 smaller ones before I ended up with this. If you don't have one, fit an external BEC too.

Stock TT01 for sale, still running plastic bushes, fitted with a foam bumper, silver can and Acoms AS12 servo. Wheels are from a Kyosho Rally car with the Kyosho rally tyres, body is a Chinese BMW 3-Series shell, been on a few cars so various mounting holes. Would be fine for a basher.
  14. When we go to the scale nationals and Martin from RCBitz sets up his stand, it's best to admire from the other side of the car park or face your wallet/cash/bank card getting spanked for Gucci bits and pieces. "of course I needed to spend
  15. I have some basic 27mgz radio gear and a fairly basic MTronics 20t limit ESC I could knock up for
  16. XV01, HPI RS4 Rally, but I love TB01's, heavy, rock solid and just about bomb proof.

Any swaps for a TL01 DTM Merc 190?
  19. Alloy steering arms, and the alloy motor mount if you can find one. If it's the rally version you should already have the steel diff gears. After that then the Long arm suspension kit gives it slightly better handling. I love the TB01's, probably the toughest cars I own.
