  1. Last few days i have been glancing over the RC4WD Trailfinder 2 kit... and then probably get a scale defender lwb body for it, and model it after my dads daily driver.
  2. slotted my 4.1 into a friends havoc just a few weeks ago and got it running just in time for the snow. its plenty enough engine for the 2wd and the truck is tough as hell. go for the stock spur as changing the gearing wont do much more than break traction faster.
  3. definately of savage origin as all the holes are correct, maybe a custom set made by someone with access to cnc machines?
  4. how about machining two heatsinks to look like rocker covers to give it a real scale look, you could still have the plugs coming out the top, also means you could mount the engine heads together and have a fake 'blower style heatsink? just as a few suggestions
  5. The motor setup/servo/ you have chosen are of particularly good quality... but for bashing around in a carpark i would suggest something otherwise. the servo can be changed for a cheaper savox high speed unit to give quicker response. and the Speedo/Motor combo can be swapped for this setup http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ezrun-9T-Brushless-3in1-Combo-Motor-35A-V2-ESC-RC-car-/251004395838?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item3a7107213e the combo is bulletproof and plenty fast for a tt-01e
  6. wow, this car was reasonably on edge with the brushed system. would love to see a running video
  7. Kyosho alpha gp. the motor looks like a non standard, but i could be wrong.
  8. PRICE REDUCED ON REMAINING TRUCK If you buy before 3pm today i can have it posted today. sound like a great servos, but i have now sold the two cheaper trucks, that i was willing to swap for, sorry about that. These are the brushed trucks, ran one up against a truck with an ezrun brushless system, difficult to tell the difference to be honest. postage on the engine will be
  9. price for the trucks is without postage, and i can cover the fees.
  10. Selling 3 maverick ion trucks that i bought less than 2 weeks ago. Bit of fun but i need shot really. The models i have are: PRICE DROP ON REMAINING CAR ION SC 1/18 short course truck as new, run once almost no marks on the car at all, in the box with all of its paperwork and chargers. run to test that it worked.
  11. Decided to give tese little trucks a review and look over before i sell them on. and for this i'm going to be using the ION MT variant. all the chassis are identical, only the wheels/tires and bodies are changed. which makes for a slightly odd short course shell well to start a look at the chassis, simple 4wd layout with plastic outdrives, plastic gear diffs... plastic plastic plastic basically. Has some nice shiny grey caps for the diddy shocks, the suspension is nice and smooth but has an issue with getting stiff if sat for too long. well sprung but the damping could be a little better. The quality of the plastic is amazing for the price, just flexible enough to withstand impacts, but still feels rigid due to the design. Tire compound is great too, lots of grip for such a small truck, and the power is incredible for such a small motor, doesn't need anymore power to be fun, only thing that needs changing is the battery, which is to be expected from an rtr at only 800mah 7.2v... a small lipo should do splendid. I wholly recommend this truck and the other variants (apart from the buggy, which i'm sure is the same) and i would buy one of these over a hpi recon/maverick atom. Even at the RRP this is a bargain.
  12. did a build thread on this one, 2wd and 4wd at one point, short course hummer exo cage MMM buggy ect ect... never coined a funny name before i tore it down and sold it for parts. needed some fettling that required actually buying parts, and that's not my style.
  13. honestly as long as all of the stressed components are on the thicker parts of the chassis you should be fine. and at 8mm i honestly think it could stand up to way more than a buggy could deal out. give it a go, do some testing, check for any stress cracks or flexing, re design ect ect.
  14. Make me an offer i had my mates over just after i posted this and we had a quick drive of all 3, very fast. all still as new. i have now driven both of these cars, and the recon is very similar, its just the diffs aren't up to standard, and the shocks aren't quite long enough. so it gets bogged down easy. the mavericks have more torque, and can climb most terrains. such a hoot to drive. It was from 'Full throttle models' i'm not surprised you didn't hear of them. not much advertisement..... and the sign for the model shop bit was quite small. i reccommend everyone go down there and see whats left, he could give you a great deal.
  15. My local hobby/computer shop has been running for a few years now and the rc side of things have been pretty docile, they didnt advertise very well and their prices weren't very competitive. but i heard some sad news that they are stopping the sale of all rc stuff to focus on the computer side of business. this is where i come in for a chat, assitant mentions that they are trying to get rid of stock, so i look through the stuff they have left and spot a Maverick ion xt. i mention it to the owner who says he has had it since last year and nobody even picked it up. i asked about a price and i was shocked, massive saving on the sticker price. then it got even better, he said he had the monster truck and the short course versions too, and he needed rid, so i got all 3 for
  16. ran one for 3 years before selling it, even with all those hours on it i rarely broke anything, and the whole car still felt new... great fun to drive, parts are a bit pricey. but that's OK because its very tough.
  17. always wondered about doing this, best of luck to you mate, looks incredible
  18. Always picked quite carefully with cars i have bought, but the worst i have had the pleasure of owning was a tamiya fighter buggy. solid rear axle, pogo suspension, solid tires, fragile body and chassis, years of bodged design leaving loads of unnecessary moldings and plates. stock esc obviously was a bit basic. didn't corner at all. but it was fun to drive, wouldn't own a stock one again.
  19. try fiddling with the screws that hold the brake pads on, adjust the trim so you get the maximum amount of brake throw, and then nip them up, then undo them until the barkes free up, giving you powerful progressive brakes.
  20. tyres are xtm grinders, amazing on astro, last a good while too.
  21. bet this thing would be rapid round a track when properly set up. very light and simple. a great way to learn how to drive properly and not just point and shoot.
