  1. Looks like a good spot. I live in Yeadon and take my DRX to Nunroyd park to go on clay/gravel and into a business park between the offices on their tarmac car parks. Otley mills looks bigger so I might give it a go one Sunday. Does anybody know anything about the track in Skipton ? link to my car at the business park in Yeadon
  2. I still think its a great looking car Tarmac and concrete play havoc with tyres
  3. I used to have a DRT but was never happy with the body . This is much beter.

  5. I had this problem , engine raced liked mad instead of idling. It started when part of carb came loose during a run. I mis adjusted carb before realising what the problem was. Then I could not get engine back to square 1 and thought I may have damaged it with high revs.People suggested air leaks or even loss of compression. I stripped engine and checked everything found nothing wrong. It took loads of fiddly tuning to get it to calm down. Carb gap on idle is now less than 1mm. But now starts , idles and runs ok. Paul
  6. I've been having a bit of trouble recently with a stiff on/off switch on my Kyosho DRT. I needed to use a little screw driver to move it:blush: . Anyway on Thursday the car was dead. I figured it was the switch and after an hour I'd stripped it down cleaned it and replaced it. It felt maybe a little too slack but I thought I'd use it and see how it went. I even called in at Modelsport to get some fuel. Today while driving I crashed into a big kerb:o , when I got to the car and put it back on its wheels it was not responsing to rx. The on/off switch had moved to off causing me to be unable to turn or brake. So now I need a new on/off switch and 2 centre drive shafts (though I may be able to straighten them.) Ha well the joys of tinkering and messing:) Paul
  7. I've got this problem with my Kyosho grx18 DRT. I've been told it could be cylinder and piston wear. It started when part of carb came loose and egine raced and would not idle. Since then the engine has done a lot of very high speed screaming as I've tried to start it and tune it. I've search for air leaks and not found any, checked and cleaned the carb and still nothing. I bought a 2nd hand engine and it was the same though seller said in advert the engine was ok. Today I spent more time on new engine and got it to idle rich with lots of smoke but would not accelerate. I could get it to run for about 20 secs and then it stalled. Any thoughts gratefully accepted. Paul
  8. My Kyosho DRT was running and starting ok until a while back. The only way to get it to start now is to blow down exhaust pressure tube to put lots of fuel in the carb. The engine then races at full speed and can only be slowed by covering air inlet with a finger. My needle settings are all as per manual which worked fine in the past. I've dismantled and cleaned the carb but its still the same. The engine seems to be leaking fuel from somewhere, though I'm not sure wether its near the exhaust manifold or somewhere. It may be coming out of the crankcase at the clutch end. I'm going to take engine from the car , give a a good clean and see if I can find something obvious. The other day I had the car running ok , accelerating ok and top speed ok with plenty of smoke but the idle speed was way to high and erratic. what should I be looking for ??? Should I try harder to set the idle speed and the low speed mixture ? thanks Paul
  9. I've had to put a new piston and liner in my Tamiya FS12 engine. So far I'm half way through the 3rd tank , it takes about 25-30 minutes at half throttle. The engine is slowly starting to be able to rev a bit more. Is this normal ? I'm running it rich ? a fair bit of oil coming out of the exhaust making damp patches on the ground where it stands and plenty of smoke when it does rev. but it still only drives at a fast trundle. Paul
  10. Hi I had a near miss yesterday. I've had my Kyosho DRT a week now. Bought second hand. It stalled yesterday and when I went to restart I noticed engine was loose ! Only held on with one screw. I've got a 450 Heli and should have known to check and thread lock all metal to metal screws and bolts. cheers Paul
  11. I bought a heli with a brushed motor and it only just flew and set alight after about 25 minutes use. I replaced it with brushless set up and the difference was amazing. I have a Parkzone spitfire with a brushed motor and am replacing it with a brushless one that that only weighs a 1/4 of the original but delivers tons more power. I had a kyosho 4wd with brushed motor and nicads and thought it was pretty good but felt if it was on lipos and brushless it would have been staggering. I'm suprised lipos and brushless aren't more comon in cars nowadays. Paul
