    I think you're mistaken there.

I promise you, a 1/8th anything (be it buggy, truggy, anything) on 8s (that's 33v) will be undrivable. I know this for a fact, because my neighbour did try to run his 1/8th Kraton on 8s. Nothing in the rig is built to take that amount of power, so if you don't immediately tear the tyres apart (literally, ballooning then exploding), you'll bend everything in the drivetrain that isn't hardened steel - and even the hardened steel parts will torque/damage the parts they're bolted to.

As a rule of thumb, i think it was mentioned already, 1/10s is around 2s-4s, 1/8th is up to 6s, and everything in scale above that goes 8+. There are 1/7th that run 8s (Arrma Limitless, Felony etc) - but they're built to go 150mph+.

What you want is the "average Kraton" system. 150ish amp ESC, 2000-2200kv motor, 6s maximum - and then "tune" through gearing. Most rigs on 6s are capable of 60mph and more. You might think that your RC there is big, but it's not: it's 1/8th scale, the average size for bashers. 8s systems are designed for things like the X-Maxx (which is considerably bigger than the Hyper Cage Truggy. Here's a picture with the X-Maxx next to a Kraton 6s, which is another 1/8th (bigger than the Hyper Cage).

Since you said you want a HW system, just order this:

    https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-ezrun-max8-g2-esc-combo-with-4278sd-2250kv-motor-1347107

and be done with it. It's going to be plenty fast, probably more than comfortable in the beginning (depending on gearing, you're looking at 50mph-60mph). It's the sweet spot - @Kpowell911 and i tried to go bigger than the "average" 1/8th system (in a Kraton 6s EXB like the grey one in the picture), and i think it's safe to say that both of us did regret it. 8s really only makes sense in rigs weighing 20+ lbs.

To put differently: there's a buggy called DBXL-E 2.0, which drives on 8s. Here's the size comparison to a 1/8th buggy.

Of course, your rig, your rules - but i don't think you'll have fun with an 8s system in that truggy. I, in fact, am not entirely certain that you could make it physically fit (8s systems have pretty chonky motors, from slightly smaller than a coke can to bigger than a coke can).

good advice there listen to him and us 🙂

  2. my rustler has a 6000kv motor and that is ten scale and 2s and it gets burnt off by my hypers that are 8 scale on 4s with 2000kv range motors 🙂

the bigger and heavier the car the bigger the motor and lower the kv is but needs 4s to shift it 🙂

i would be scared to use 6s on my 8 scales and u see from our vids im not scared to thrash em 🙂

I have a feeling, but I'm not sure, that the guy who gave me it runs the one he uses on 8s, though I'm not sure.  It's something I'm planning on checking when I go round his to measure his wheels.  Despite requiring no assembly, it looks and feels like a serious bit of kit compared to my Tamiya Rock Socker, and all the other Tamiya RC cars I've seen to date.

well so would a hyper 7, seriously 6s is really pushing it on a 8 scale and u seen the vids of mine on 4s with motors around the 2000kv mark 🙂

unless ur mate has a 5th scale model 8s makes no sense 🙂

this should be a good combo for it

    https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-cml-ezrun-max8-with-2200kv-motor-combo-397267

possibly with a 17 tooth pinion and it should go well on 4s

the esc will take 6s  but prob better sticking to 4s to start with

thats the exact system we both have in our converted hyper 7's and dad has one in his converted hyper st a truck 🙂

    dad is stormbringer btw 🙂

  5. heres my kronos with a rebranded max 8 system 2000kv if i recall   on 4s

6s would be too insane never mind 8

2 hyper vse's 8 scale buggys 2000kv 4s and my blue one was going slow as i forgot to recalibrate the end points when i changed my radio gear 😛

heres dads hyper 7 converted to leccy with a max 8 2200kv motor on 4s

  6. hobbywing max 8 bud, good bit of kit i have the 2200kv combo in my hyper 7, and my corally kronos has a rebranded max 8 combo.

hobbywing max 10 is 10 scale and hobbywing max 8 is 8 scale etc

i have a few of the ten scale ones as well and they never skip a beat, pure quality 🙂

    https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-ezrun-max8-g2-esc-combo-with-4278sd-2250kv-motor-1347107

    something like that 🙂

yeh the heavyness of 8 scales is why the kv looks low more torque but they run on 4-6s so more voltage and gets the speed up,plus the sheer size of the motors 🙂

5 scale ones are the size of coke cans lol

  7. 1/8 scale systems are lower kv for the extra torque and the motors are much larger than the tiny 1/10 scale ones, they are by no means slow 2200kv is pretty fast for 8 scale, infact my fastest car is a 1/8 hyper 7 on 4s but it can take 6s i converted  to electric from nitro with my hyper 7 🙂

  8. i grew up with tamiya connectors and i had loads melt on me and fuse battery connectors together, they are highly inneficient..... on nimh or nicad

deans for 10 scales  and xt90 for 8 scales at a minimum is what i use  now 🙂

i tried using a deans adapter on my kronos to 8 scale xt90 with a adpater  and melted the deans and xt90 together.

straight out xt90 now on it now all all my 8 scales and deans are super superior to tamiya connectors 🙂

i use deans on all my 10 scales appart from my 2 grass  hoppers 🙂

  9. i tried a 32 kilo or something etronix servo on my kronos and broke it on the first outing, turns out my servo saver was to tight, put in a old savox one and loosened the servo saver and it hasnt skipped a beat.

put a 70 or 80 quid savox in my hyper st and that hasnt skipped a beat either and that is the most i would pay for one 🙂

buy cheap pay twice, i did manage to recover my etronix one sort off by replacing metal gears from other broken servos that also had broken teeth on differnt gears, it is in my tamiya dt-03 at the moment and i cannot turn the wheels one way by hand but it works fine when powered.

from my experince its usually not the servo motors but the gears inside that cause problems by stripping on hard knocks cart wheels etc

  10. main thing with nitro is noise even getting a new one broken in can be a massive pain if neighbours come out shouting, dad has a hpi trophy im gonna completely strip it as the parts are super expensive and it was getting leaked on in a dodgy shed, hpi are in a precarious position and are not what they used to be unfortunatly.

leccies are a lot faster than any nitro now and a lot more quiet, i converted my hobao hyper 7 black to leccy and havent looked back, the power of 8 scale brushless motors is super stupid 😄

before the pandemic a hyper vse 100 amp rtr that runs on 4s could be had for 325 quid 🙂

we still have a few nitros but we never use them.

get a hobao st over a trophy any day, its more robust and parts are more plentiful and a lot cheaper 🙂

    https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobao-hyper-st-truggy-rtr-26445

heres a video of the hyper st i bought second hand that also came with a esc and motor for a amazing price, it runs good and used to be nitro, that is just 4s and i was going easy on it as first run , the esc i got with it can use 6s 🙂

To me it just seems they offer more if you pay

grab slightly older games on sale with dlc included like game of the year editions or complete ones, a lot of the time dlc is just nonsense and try the dark souls series for something very atmospheric and brutal 🙂
