  1. as above really, after suspension and gears, not engines. will consider full cars thanks
  2. Hell, I have been away from the hobby for a good number of years but not sold anything, just stored away. I've come to have a play with my rustler VXL and have come across a problem. It will run fine, but come to change batteries and as soon as you pull the throttle it cuts out. I have ruled out a fault with the batteries and they all charge fine. Now I don't mind replacing the esc if that's what's at fault. I don't want to replace it with a not as good unit. Please could someone advise me on a good esc to go for? I have looked at the traxxas ones and the are quite pricey,,,,,, which is fine if they're worth that. Ideally I would like to upgrade the esc. I usually run 3s lipo 11v. Any advise welcome. The rustler must be 10 years old. I think I got one of the first and it's been a good one. Many thanks chris
  3. Sounds like I might be better keeping it then? Yeah I read a few reviews and seen some videos on you tube and they looked quite good, but on the other hand if I'm going to get
  4. I always used to strip down the carb and reseal every joint when I got new engines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hey up , i might be looking to sell my savage xl 5.9. Not been out with it for a while and got it running yesterday (had after run oil in) But I see you can now get petrol xls and I think they'd suit me a lot better. I'm just looking at how much my xl is actually worth? It's in very good condition ready to run. Converted to pull start so no annoying root start, seems the one way bearing is slipping sometimes. Engine has very good compression Needs three speed tranny adjusting though Two body shells, one vgc other a little bruised. If it's not worth that much I'll probably just keep it. Thanks very much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I know this doesn't answer your question at all but, would it be cheaper to buy a brushless buggy? Or is it a project your wanting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks just had a look, what's the quality like on these ? I was looking at the traxxas lipos, they seem dear for what they are and are only 25c. I was looking for I higher rating Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Ha ok I'm listening, ok then I'll probably buy the metal gears then. Is there many people still running the rustler vxl on hew nowadays?
  9. These are what I was looking at, I don't want mega long run time with the lipo's due to heat build up. Id but the trx connection but do I need that expansion tray? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/nvision-11.1v-sport-lipo-4200-60c-deans-/rc-car-products/387630
  10. The Hex bits are for the rear wheels, over time these have begun to round and get worn and it's making the wheel worn aswell. I usually use those 8-9 cell hump nimh batteries for messing around with but I'm wanting some more power for speed runs By limited to soft case, does that mean they're different sizes? I can get round the connectors but I want a high mah and I seem to think som thing like a 45c is slower than a 65c? Also very good point on the diff gears, I'll probably wait till it brakes though , I think the car itself is from 2008ish when I bought it new.
  11. Hi guys not been here for a while Just got my rustler vxl out of storage to use again, basically I'm after a new set of radio gear, need advise on what to get but I am thinking of upgrading to 2.4ghz Also it kept chewing the driveshaft up with power so I'm looking at these, are they any Good? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/fastrax-traxxas-steel-rear-universal-driveshafts-for-rustler-slash-stampede-4x4/rc-car-products/380913 Next up I'm after some new lipo batteries, now the price seems to have come down for these since I was last buying them, again any advise. I definitely want an 11.1v for some fun, so any recommendations as I don't want to spend more than I have to, Finally can you get alloy hex bits that bolt into the wheels? And if there's anythin new and modern for these cars feel free to let me know as I loved tinkerin with these and like upgrading. Will put some pics up when I've freshened it all up. Thanks very much for the help
