  1. just got the hobbyking one, for
  2. there is no "clearest channel" as such, you have to go through a few when you are on location as there will be different levels of interference on different frequencies in different places. As far as I know the easiest way f doing it is to turn off your video transmitter and just have your receiver on whether that be an external video receiver connected to an lcd or goggles. You then look at the blank screen and flick through a few channels to see which one has the least interferance lines, or which is the clearer blank screen. Then you set the video transmitter to the same channel number/frequency as the receiver.

    150A esc

So just killed my hk 150A spare esc and need a replacement as i'm trying to rebuild my hyper from the scraps. I know I can get another hobbyking 150A esc for about
  4. Hi all, Some time ago I upgraded my pc and have had this sat in a box doing nothing. It's in full working order and should run modern games at high or very high settings on a 1080p screen though your milage may vary on that. This is a 7870 tahiti card meaning it is based on the 7950 architecture with a few cores stripped off it so it will outperform the standard 7870 and is very close to 7950 performance. In truth the only reason for the upgrade was that I wanted to watercool and full cover blocks just werent available for this card so i bought myself an R9 290 Price is
  5. you certainly dont need anything like a savox 1256 to steer a truggy I have just swapped my 1256 out for a SAV-SW0231Mg in my heavy brushless muggy and it still turns the wheels stood still desptite the reduction of 5kg of torque. The 1256 has gone in my savage where i think t would be more at home.
  6. Alright then cheers for the info guys, Probably going to use its own battery power and will try fpv through the gopro for now and if the lag is too bad when flying i'll get a little 600tvl camera for flying and maybe a video switcher.
  7. hey all, Just bought myself a gopro hero 4 black edition and want to use it for fpv, i know you can make up or buy premade video out/power in usb cables for them but i'm just wondering if the 5v output on the fatshark transmitter will power it or do i need an external BEC or even a charging circuit to prevent damage? It wasn't cheap so I just want to be reasonably sure before i just start putting wires in it. Thanks, Smithy
  8. You probably will get charged inport tax, but you may be lucky. Factor it into your budget, other than that hobbyking has been fine with me and the shipping times even international have been excellent.
  9. +1 for the taranis I upgraded from a turnigy 9x and would never look back. Once you work out how to use it its awesome plenty of switches which can all be set to any channel and for pretty much any function, the ability to play sound files is great too since you can have it read cell voltages and give an audible readout or alarm (individual cell voltage will need a cheap frsky sensor) and there are just plenty of little things that make it awesome to use but are just absent from other radios.
  10. Correct me if i'm wrong but from my experience the apm actually stores the location in which it was armed not powered, not sure what other flight controllers do but could be worth adding to your guide if that is indeed correct Nice Ideas, would hate to lose my hex and im sure this will be helpful to a lot of newcomers after christmas
  11. i have had a quadcopter and currently have a hexacopter so i just wanted to try a tricopter as a mini fpv platform current setup is all 3 motors counter clockwise as the apm guide suggests, through a bit of messing the rotation seems to have subsided and i can get it in the air now but it wobbles like hell and seems to get progressively worse until its uncontrolable
  12. hi, I have just finished building a mini tricopter and it isn't flying, it just rotates around its rear motor clockwise. not sure if there is a setting somewhere to adjust the amount of compensation but i cant find it. secondly I have an apm issue that i have encountered before but couldn't find a solution. when i try to connect in the terminal i just get a bunch of crap on the screen, it works fine with my other full size apm but this mini doesn't seem to play ball. I have seen this problem on a friends full size apm too and we weren't able to fix it or work out why it happens even after several firmware reloads. edit: turns out the command line interface was removed in the latest firmware due to storage space restraints. if you have any ideas help would be appreciated cheers smithy
  13. I did but you know; things, stuff. the last picture there was actually a perfectly flyable state but then i bought a taranis and 2 x8rs so figured i'd put the channels and telemetry to use
  14. well the old quad has been stripped apart to make way for my new baby. Its a tarot 680 pro with dual x8r receivers, apm2.6, teensy telemetry translator between mavlink/frsky fatshark vtx, apm telemetry module a 12v and a 6v regulator, custom retracts, a couple of rc switches and a frsky smart lipo monitor This one is slightly older taken before i went wiring crazy
  15. That thing is damn gorgeous but the price is seriously wrong on so many levels
  16. "Even small drones can weigh up to seven or eight kilograms and could cause damage or injury if they fall from height. Thankfully, no-one was hurt." this reporter seems misinformed my fully loaded 680 hex weighs less than 2.5kg so god knows what small means especially when the quadcopter in question was a tiny phantom its unfortunate that idiots like this have to ruin it for the rest of us, still sure they could hurt someone if they fell out of the sky but so could a runaway baja i think people over react when the word drone comes up, it makes them sound sinister. multirotors are becoming mainstream these days and that is just something the world and the caa will have to deal with they cant possibly hope to regulate the entire community of plots out there
  17. hi, I am hoping to get into doing paid aerial videography work in the future and i know under the caa rules i cannot accept money for flights unless certain provisions are met. I have tried to look into it but i'm finding the information a touch confusing, so if anybody on here is certified then any help would be appreciated thanks, smithy
  18. thanks for the advice guys, how do i know which is more suitable to go to iie doctor vs optician vs other? i always thought opticians dealt strictly with viision problems.
