  1. the social media angle is probably a good bet but i will be calling them tomorrow too as you say emails are easy to ignore. i dont know why they do it to themselves, they dont lose anything by issuing a replacement because they would return the faulty phone to samsung anyway. cheers
  2. the seller is scan.co.uk and that is true about a more long term repair request and there is absolubtley no way they could prove a scratch caused the phone to seemingly lose it operating system completely
  3. cheers for the reply, i have read that and i gather that i am well within my 30 day right to reject the product but as far as i can see nothing there mentions any physical damage caused by the user which is what this shop are claiming gives them the right to reject the return. is there some argument to be made for general wear of a product? as i feel like a small scratch on a phone screen is to be expected and shouldnt void any warranties but i'm not 100% sure how to properly word it. cheers, smithy
  4. hi, i have a bit of trouble reutrning a 5 day old phone and im wondering if anybody has had a similair experience that was resolved? basically i bought a samsung galaxy s7 on finance from a large uk computer shop and after 5 or so days it just stopped working, it wouldnt turn on other than to display the samsung logo and then hang there until it ran out battery and none of the recovery modes worked. so i thought no worries its 5 days old i'll just send it back but today i received notification that my rma has been rejected due to physical damage. the phone lived in a full cover book type case from day one but unfortunately a small bit of grit must have gotten between the screen and the cover beacuse there is a very light scratch in a bottom corner but the phone is otherwise flawless and the shop in question is using that as an excuse to reject my rma. now there is no way in hell that a small scratch on the screen causes the phone to not boot up or even enter recovery mode so surely they cant just deny that i paid ~£500 for faulty goods and refuse to do anything about it. To be honest i havent ever had an rma rejected so i'm not sure what to expect or what i can do about it, if anybody here can shed some light on it or give me some retaliatory points that would be much apprciated. cheers, smithy
  5. Hi all, The charging port on my iphone 5 was extrememly intermittent so I replaced it, the new part works fine but I have accidentally damaged the logic board when prying the battery connector off. The damage looks to be one of those grain of sand sized capacitors or resistors just knocked off its pads, Naturally I have lost the part now and im not entirely sure what it was but I do know that without it the home and power buttons do nothing. So does anybody know or can recommend somewhere that can do this kind of repair work at a reasonable cost? cheers, smithy
  6. probably, I only put them on for the picture
  7. anybody been using the esun filament from hobbyking? It seems really proffessional when it comes all boxed up and labelled with colours and recommended temperatures etc, before i started using it i have always used no name ebay filaments which has been fine. I am printing pla esun filament at 210c but the final model seems really brittle, much more so than the un named ebay filaments I have used at the same settings on the same model. I suspect my temperature is at fault, maybe too high or too low causing bad layer adhesion, I'm not too sure.
  8. cheers for the replies guys, if its a goner whats the generally recommended replacement? how exactly would one go about doing this on a fatshark 600tvl? all I got was the little camera, the fatshark video transmitter and my goggles
  9. Hi, I have been trying to fly my mini with fpv and in the sun it's just impossible because the camera seems to have no transition between sky and ground leaving me with a good image sometimes and a completely unusable image a second later when the light level changes. I have seen plenty of videos from peoples ground stations running a camera just like mine (fatshark 600tvl) and they don't suffer anywhere near as much as mine does. I'm using fatshark attitudes, a 600tvl camera and one of those cheap chinese mini video transmitters which actually works just as well as the fatshark one on my big hex (i.e this camera still does that on the fatshark only system) Am I doing something wrong or is my camera just fubar? cheers, smithy
  10. Wasn't this a feature on all profiles at one point? what happened to it?
  11. We got an ormerod at work about a year ago and I have been using it constantly for this and that and wanted my own printer, so thought hey why not print one? After looking round I decided I really wanted a delta style printer and settled on richraps 3DR design since it was mostly 3d printed and seemed cheap to get going. It looked cool but the build area was kinda small and I eventually lost interest in trying to get it to print right since I had access to works printer every day anyway. this is how it looked for those unfamiliar with the 3DR. I then decided to just print spacers for the top and bottom plates which would allow me a larger build area but I ran into the issue of it being unstable and lacking rigidity and so I abandoned the 3DR platform and opted to instead design my own from the ground up using a steel and printed frame and integrating all of the electronics in the base, including a raspberry pi to run an octoprint server to control the printer. I have also thrown in a heated bed and a capacitive z probe which should allow me to automatically level the bed. I need to add a few more peices such as the exturder and spool mount at the top of the build. Hopefully I will stick with it this time until it is all up and running exactly as I want it. wiring is mostly done, just needs calibration and general setup, will use my old extruder for now until I can print the rest of the parts and get it all mounted.
