I had an RG500 aswell.I remeber when i bought it.I had read how quick they were but after my RD(one of 6 )i though geeeez this is slow compared to my RD.I changed the plugs but it was still the same.Then i thought i would try different coils.I fitted them and went wheelieing off down the road .It had only been fireing on 2 cylinders.Thats why it was so slow .I tryed to get an NS400R but the guy wouldnt do a deal with one of my RD's and i used to have the TDR aswell.That was a great bike for whizzing around town.Probably the first real super moto .

I agree with you Mr.T but the trouble with these engines is if you come from nitro you tend to tune the engines to much and seize them up as i know you obviously know.When i got my first 5b i was tuning to much like with a nitro.Tuneing it till it gets faster and faster but rather than just overheat like a nitro these things seize.again as i know alot of you know but if you are new to petrol it is very easily done.I am going to fit a kill switch to my 5B and my 5T so it is easier to get a correct plug reading.I miss the days of screaming down the north cicular and hitting the kill switch at 100mph + on my old bob farnham tuned RD350YPVS to check the plugs to see if the jetting was set up properly .

If it is running good and it is fast enough i would leave it as it is.It is always best to run them on the rich side.Most of the 26's i have seen dont realy need any tuning and run fine at factory settings.

Deffinatley go with the baja.Not only is it the best 1/5th you can get,it will give him hours of forum reading info to keep him occupied when he cant get out and run it .

Hi i bought my first baja 5b from models in motion by able to buy as i cant save but can pay for things if i have to.I cant sem to find any shops doing it anymore and want to treat myself to a black baja 5t for christmas.does anyone know of any shops still doing it?Thanks.

Congrats on getting the ss .When it comes to buying hopups and stuf i would buy from MMR.Their website is very upto date and if there is a problem with your order they will ring you.I have stuff on order with rc demon which still says instock on the website but they dont have the stuff .

The baja ss comes with a steering servo.You will have to get a normal sized throttle servo tho.

As Mr.T says it is a lightning sport 2 re badged as an hpi model.I have the lightning 2 sport and it is a great buggy for the price.It wouldnt beat something like a Losi 8 on the track but if its just for bashing something like the Losi is a waist of money in my opinion.I have a hpi 4.6ho and jp-3 pipe with an 18th clutchbell in mine and it is way faster than a hyper 7 and my mates losi with a race 21 in it .

I sold my spektrum dx3 for this reason.I couldnt get any failsafes to work with it and as i was useing it in a baja aswell i didnt want to risk a runaway.You are lucky that your one cut in on low battery as alot of them dont.I am not sure why some do as the faisafe on the spektrum is only for frequency loss.I have just seen another post on hbf where a guy with a brand new baja ss on its first run and the battery went and off went the baja straight across a field and into a fence!!I am thinking about getting one of the Acom Technisport 2.4ghz radios now.

No its the Ramtech one.It doeslook similar tho.In my opinion the 5t looks good with a body on it but with the body off it just looks a mess.Plastic bits bolted on all over the place whereas the 5b looks good with the body on and off .

You certanly got it dirty .If you brake another arm i would get some RPM ones next.I have just fitted my rears and they went on perfectly.

I got some 12x1 ali tube from b&q and i havent had to use any body clips or screws.I have made the tubes go all the way down to the wing mount and have cut the rollcage in the same place as everyone advices and it works fine.Also being ali tube it polishes up nicely

Great info there Hoss .I am running an enclsed clutch houseing and am waiting till payday so i can get the vertigo vented bell.Being enclosed the clutch mite run hot and hopefully the vented one mite help a bit.Once i get paid i will reverse the clutch shoes and reverse the bolt like you said with the vertigo bell .
