  1. I don’t understand why people complain about tamiya screws. Just built a kit with hex head metric screws and they’re a little nightmare. Couldn’t have done it without my drill. I much prefer a tamiya kit build than that SCX10 kit but at least I’m happy with the result.

    Rant over

Most complain because they're using a Phillips or Pozidrive tip to drive a JIS screw - With the right driver, Tamiya screws are no problem.
Granted, JIS drivers are a little more difficult to source, but worth the effort

  2. Charged just under £20 for a $50 delcared item by DHL, seems a bit high to me, or normal for DHL to rip you off?

Royal Mail charge £8 clearing fee on standard parcels, £13 on 'express'
As a business, we pay £14 to UPS for clearing parcels through customs so DHL probably charge similar.

It may be a rub, but all companies have to make money to survive and them clearing goods through customs is a lot quicker than doing it yourself used to be.
The breakdown of  charges should be explained in their invoice

  3. Not sure if this lockdown has made people crazy or something but the guy across the road has started to become increasingly annoying by copying what we do? I cut the lawn, then he will start his a couple of hours later / following day. I clean the car and he will begin to clean his,  Installed a new doorbell, so has he. Cleaned all the windows and the following morning his son starts theirs? It has been happening for a good while now. Oh and if you want to step outside there is a very high chance one of them is looking over! Definitely odd especially because we have known them for over 15 years...

      Is he married Manny?

Chances are, you doing something starts off a 'continuous chain of comment' (not nagging) from his missus.
I'm pretty much the other guy - As soon as our neighbour starts anything my wife realises it's been some time since I did anything, and so the 'continuous chain of comment' begins.

I'm just lucky she believes that all the DIY stores round Oxford are either closed or have 2-3 hours queues outside otherwise I'd be decorating the kitchen too.

Out of interest, is anyone using a (android) phone app to reduce phone pic filesizes easily?
As standard, my phone creates pretty big files (3mb easy) but they don't need to be that big for here and, as I don't upload that many phone pics, editing the ones I do upload would be easier than changing the default setting on phone

Although if payments are funded from debit card, bank account or Paypal balance then Paypal don't apply a fee unless there's a currency conversion involved - according to PP's fee page

  14. Ebay does my fruit in, why do people click 'buy it now' and then don't pay and then make some alpha hole excuse that it won't let them pay... Course it won't mate, of course.

In the 'how you'll be paid' box, tick

"Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy it now"

Then they can't mess you around :-)

You can flick a switch in the options somewhere so Buy It Now can't be clicked without completing checkout - for that to work you have to include postage cost though.
