Yup, par for the course with Tamiya: take a reasonable shell then properly wreck it for a couple of screw heads Same happened with the Holiday Buggy and Sand Rover reworks - shock towers were too tall so they just cut holes in the bodyshell bonnets They even had to run the front shocks upside-down to make the holes as small as possible ☹️/🤪

Adding 15mm to the links won't extend the wheelbase by 15mm, as they're all at a slight angle - It'll be damn close though. What I used to do when extending WB was get 4 lengths of stud/all thread or long screws with the heads cut off and make adjustable links (thread one end into link, one end into ballend and adjust like a turnbuckle) - once the WB is right, just measure the links.
