  1. Does anyone know the equivalent batt size that replaces the stock kyosho bike batteries anywhere? Dont know whether to go Lipo or not as that would mean new esc too, but I really want to see my HOR whizz around again.
  2. I was given a 1/5 desert truck project that was just about RTR, except for the exhaust that had been messed around with to the extent it wasnt useable. So whats 'critical' about the exhaust dimensions you think? I know there was a huge difference when I changed my mk1 exhaust for a mk2 on the 5B, I could always put the mk1 onto the new toy, but I was looking at modding a mini moto pipe to fit? Make an outlet pipe curving around backwards and connect that to the inner of the moto pipe, or even just the silencer at end of a mini moto pipe??? Could use some help if you could?
  3. Yup....def doing it wrong fella! Just had my new lipos last week, cheap as chips and delivery pretty quick too, waiting on new ESC for my schort course right now and opted for HK again. Their website is a bit of a minefield though, you do have to change currency and check your ordering from the UK warehouse, if you screw up theres no way to do a re-set and change the order from what I can see. i had to go via their LiveChat option to get that sorted out, only to find that I may have done it again on latest order, I was looking at the programming card earlier in the day and ordered only the esc that evening, looks like Ive ordered the card as well now. Its not expensive, but best pay attention when browsing.
  4. This place is not as well used as you would think, but that may have changed if the council did it up a bit recently. Your bang on about no nitro though, the locals do get peed off at the racket. The adjacent grass section is dog **** city, not about to run any of my cars in that. Theres another track/layout nr Cumbernauld, belongs to the local school so as long as your well behaved its ok for nitro or electric. I think the CSOR guys used to use it before they got their current track. (too far for me). Thanks to Google Earth I found a couple of likely spots and managed proper permission for one of those, but due to ill health I cant take it any further. But it should still be okay to have decent bashin track on it if there was the interest. The other is next to the National Savings Bank buildings in the south side of Glasgow, just of the M77, so access is spot on. Its an old hospital now long gone, so you would have a mixture of tarmac & grass/soil etc. Again you would have to put the time in, but the potentials there. Given the current financial climate, theres less chance of a new housing development springing up on it and my first one has crap access for a commercial concern. Same terrain with a mix of overgrown tarmac and old grass etc, theres also a brick built plinth thats bang on for a stand for racing. I'll do Google Earth coordinates if anyone in the vicinity wants to get involved,
  5. AND.....your actually supposed to get an 'import code' before you buy anything, the have 'codes' for almost anything. Although some of their categories are laughable. But yes you are liable for VAT at standard rate as well as the tab from ParcelFarce! I tried to do the 'right; thing before and got shafted, so now its take my chances. Oh and if you plan on treating yourself while on holiday to the states, your only allowed
  6. Had a chance to look it over again and found that my biggest problem was the ball joints binding badly. Im thinking on changing them to slightly larger ones, although I did give the existing joints a slight squeeze with some pliers and a few mins with screwdriver making sure there was as little binding as possible. BUT....I seem to have picked up some bump steer somewhere? Do they have that from the off, or do I need to adjust my links etc for best effect?
  7. Just dont let them West Coast Raceway buggers sort yer motor! heheheee
  8. So where is this Bathgate BMX track then fella ? Wee Googley map maybe?
  9. HPI Savage/Quad conversion for that swap? proper pro-line quad body and river, all nice green and black like the HPI ads, hes cable tied onto the quad so the ties can break before he does himself in! LOL
  10. How did the Castle brushless pan out mate? If stuck give me a nudge eh?
  11. How would 55t Crawler motors do? Ok I know theyre not a fast motor, but they are very torquey so possibly better low end grunt?
  12. I've seen plenty of cars loaded up with LED's, looks pretty, but not much use as far as brakes go! Soooooo..........Im trying to work out some way of making my brake lights 'work' ? And not just be on all the time. We dont use a brake like a nitro, so a parallel linkage is out of the equation, so Im thinking maybe an inertial thing? Using the inertia of the car to make a contact and thus light up the brake, might take some working out as I dont it to be flashing like mad as it bounces around a track. So some sort of adjustment would be needed as well as finding out what 'weight' works best for us. Anyone else dabbled with brake lights?
  13. Spurred on by some of the stuff on here and YouTube, I started putting together my own wee rally car, using what tips I could pick up. The car is a Tamiya TB01 that I thought was crap at first, but now can see that theyre much sought after for RC Rallying? The shocks lthough plastic are designed to accept shock oil, so first item on the build was the shocks. To start off with they were rather 'bouncy', after a clean out of the dodgy grease and re-assembly, they give that nice 'Plap! noise when dropped on the worktop....like a trifle in a bag! LOL The steering was stupidly heavy, this turned out to be down to the ball linkages so they will need some work either by adjusting or replacement as required there. Even then, there is way to much slop in this linkage, too much going on on that one linkage. Looking at where the two screws hold it together before leaving the tube chassis, I came up with the idea of replacing the screws with two inverted bolts that the linkage sits on and the tops of those bolts to be held by a plate across the top of the chassis? Its at the top that the play is most evident...steadying there could have a much smoother, quicker steering action. The current arrangement is more suited to eating as much amps as a cheap 540!! My shell mounting posts are misformed or missing, so some new ones will have to be made sometime. Thats it for now, but I'll tyr to get some pics at some point.
  14. Tesco did a gadget for making small stickers. You print it off then place an end into what looks like a normal sellotape holder thing, but it comes out at the bottom faced with a laminate and with the glue ready to go at the back? It wasnt that long ago, Ill try and do a pic of the thing.

Doesnt this remove all front wheel drive as well? How about a DIG like in a crawler? I fitted one to my Axial and modded the drive shafts so that it still drives 4wd or 2wd at the click of a switch or whatever you have on your radio. So you can have full power approaching a turn, snick the front off so it acts like a handbrake turn or power-oversteer and back off when your lined up again?

Oh tell me you can still get shells like that wee blue one? I can just see me as Ari Vattenen....

Yup....talking to you! Im in the north of Glasgow and race with the guys from the old EK racing club, their in Pollok now. I saw your posting to their Facebook page and then found you on here after Craig mentioned it. So where have you guys tried then?

Cheers fella....just Pm'ed you on Fbook via Glasgow RC Racing website? Anyway...I fancy the rally thing big time and would love some local company to get something going. What kind of pitches were you checking out for running on? I already have permission to run cars, nitro or electric almost any time I like, but due to health issues I cant take advantage of it without help. Interested???
  19. Sorry but I never knew you fella, but if Im to go by the copious heartfelt eulogies on the forum, you were worth getting to know and you will be missed by both family and friends. My deepest condolences to your family, I can but hope that the pain fades quickly and that the warmth of happy memories takes over and is enjoyed with smiles rather than tears. There are people in life that bring something uplifting with them, rather than the negativity or selfishness that is so easy to develop, it would seem that you are one of the former sir. HATS OFF!................................Piper!
  20. Got a couple of corpses laying around, what you looking for buddy? I was going to get some pics and shove them onto ebay, need the dosh for bits for my desert truck. Theres a couple of MT's and some sort of traxxas thing, think anothers a Hobao pirate...nitro obviously. Also got some cheap leccy things, uprated Tamiya Mad Bull with bearings and decent motor, also another tanmmy like that , but no shell or anything. Dont even know if thats working or not but doesnt look terminal, so ideal for a kid to launch around when your driving the real stuff. Oh yes.....theres a 4wd on road too, I'll get some pics tomorrow. I also have a Hotbodies D8 brushless if someones fancying some indoor offroad this winter, ideally would like to trade for SC10 or Blitz, just went off the serious racing thing and prefer my mardaves for that anyway.
  21. Ah well..................................looks like the brakes might have wait a bit longer than planned! I live on quite a busy traffic lights junction and sometimes drivers arent too patient, as they wait for another driver to turn off before they can make their next move. Some nice soul must have had such a moment this morning while driving his flat bed truck. Being a bit pressed for time he must have thought his truck was much slimmer than it was, he decided there was room to pass my parked car and turn left......there wasnt room! So my cars off the road for a few weeks and I've an excess to pay for being parked fully & legally in my disabled parking space, while some tosser totals the wing, wheel, door, mirror and offside lights. Oh well I can only hope he gets his come-uppance at some point.
  22. The car was given to me by a mate who was 'clearing his feet' a little, so it didnt cost me a penny! The owner before him reckons he has a load of spares for it I can have too and he did mention an exhaust,it does look 'mini-moto' so maybe the other exhaust would be better anyway. I dont want to start it until I have some sort of airfilter fitted, theres a couple on Ebay Im looking at, one is complete 5b unit and the others a proper foam FG I think, lets see how that goes. I'll be over the moon to have two Baja 1000 vehicles on the ground, my 5b buggy and a trophy truck beast! I've still to get time to go over it in any detail though, thats why I didnt even see that there was a standard layshaft brake (Tit!) but I reckon disks are must have if possible. Cheers
  23. I know what you mean about the club thing buddy, I tried to get something up and running a few weeks ago and got very little response, ok it was Mardaves but it could have easily been tourers or any other electric. Two kids and one fella from East Kilbride kinda spells out that it wasnt going to last. I still think Glasgow could have a few clubs, if only the guys across the city got in touch with each other? Still....my wee bashing park up the road is still on the menu if this rain ever stops? Guarenteed the grass will be waste high now with all the rain!!!!! First dry spell and we must arrange a meet up there and get in round about it. I was thinking that maybe we could contact an astroturf company for covering, apparently it costs them to dispose of the stuff and they are happy to deliver etc to get it off their hands. I dont know, but its worth a sniff? Bill
  24. It shouldnt be that hard to make a sealable base for a foam based filter, then some sort of frame for the foam? Your right is IS a twin manifold with one arm blocked off, not made up my mind yet whether to copy that pipe for the other side, or fit a single manifiold and pipe. We dont bash that hard, so it doesnt have to take gratiuitous abuse every run, be happy just to have it roaring around with the 5B.
