  1. Nope if the slipper set right you will be fine.
  2. Hi There are a few options yiou can try :- 1. you can try the hard acetal spur by RW racing, You will need to run a 0.6 hard steel pinion with this spur. RW racing acetal spur gear 2.I do a machined and hard steel spur gear in 48DP. You must also use hard steel pinions with it. 48DP Hard Steel Spur gear I also do a 32DP version of this gear. Hope this helps you
  3. Ah ok . Yeah Neil at RW wont do bevel gears, ive tried in the past :(. I know a few engineers who can do this sort of thing, and i usually mess around on my dads lathe/ mill etc too :). If i can find a cost effective way to sort these i will.
  4. I will look at getting the crown and pinion done in hard steel like the spur sets. I reckon two ring and pinions would work out at about £15 - 20 ish for the set. I run the 32DP steel set on my carnage, run fine without the guards : )
  5. Do that and you will break the spur gear or diffs. The slipper reduces chance of direct drivetrain damage to driveline. Tighten it a bit but not all the way.
  6. Popped front diff out . As in the pic i use 3 shims non crown side before bearing and 2 shims crown side before bearing. I also use a TRAXXAS teflon washer (Part no TRX1985) behind the pinion to push it into the ring gear. I just pack gearbox full of grease befor reassembly . Have slight wear on the crown and drive gear but nothing major as of yet. Hope this helps
  7. Cant remember of the the top of my head how i shimmed it ill tear it down and check tonight. I ran the alloy chassis for a while on my old carnage. It stiffens the drive train etc and stop the chassis flex, in turn keep stuff in place unlike the bendy stock item. The downside is where the stock item absorbs some of the crash/jump landing energy, the alloy one does not, it instead transfers the energy to other weaker components such as a-arms. I currently run the stock chassis with the carbon top plate, stffens chassis enough to keep things in line. Im also looking at the crown and pinion, yeah the metal isnt the best, so will have a look at a hardened steel version ASAP.
  8. I think the top one is a HPI RS4 pro mini, with buggy wheels on it
  9. I have always shimmed my diffs and havent broken a single one yet. Maybe your slipper clutch is to tight ?. Any way, ill have a look at a better crown and pinion, no worries
  10. HI. It would be a good idea to replace the seals, and either straighten or replace the shaft as when bent they can affect the seals perfomance. Just remember when refilling shock make sure you take you time and let it rest to expell all the air bubbles from the oil, this will ensure your rebuilt shock is silky smooth.
  11. Stronger Delrin and Hard steel spurs are on the way . Yes jumping does put a huge strain on the spur and pinion, especially if the chassis bites in and the wheels lock for a split second. Alot of manufacturers add slipper clutches to prevent this.
  12. Hi Thought id get back into supplying some decent steel gearsets again so ive had some done for the Vantage/ Carnage range. They are case hardened High grade tool steel , come in 32 and 48 dp flavours and are available as complete sets with spur and a matching pinion (Stock Ratios) or your choice or as individual spurs. Tested the 48dp on 3S and the 32dp hold up nicely on 4S (the rest of the drivetrain wont though lol) so yeah, pretty much bomb proof and must be used with hard steel pinions. The kit Spurs are paired with RW racing Hard steel Pinions. Made is small batches Here in UK so not the cheapest option, but hand finished quality. It will save those many stripped spurs and rebuilds. Available form here :- Vantage/Carnage 48DP Hard Steel Spur gearset Vantage/Carnage 32DP Hard Steel Spur Gearset Vantage/Carnage 48DP Spur gear Pm me for more info if required.
  13. I did a similar conversion to an mTA-4 using the monster rc mount, might be useful to you :- Universal mount They do several different universal mounts and are very good quality and value.
  14. Just ECX Ruckus And Torment 4x4 rebranded
  15. The biggest difference is the axle design. The fact it has those annoying skid plate mounts removed from the bottom of the crown housings that constantly hook on things and the shock mounting points on the outside of the rails is a massive improvment over the Stock barrage.I have seen guys on facebook groups spend in exess of the original price on alloy scx10 axle kits etc to rectify this. ECX have done there homework here so kudos to them.Ill be buying the axles and internals when spares are released to sort out the inboard wallow devices that pretend to be shocks
  16. All sorted now please close
  17. hi. im after a stampede 4x4.i have electrics etc already so am after a roller for my son to use. cheers
  18. Thanks ill do that.Im gonna do a strip clean and rebuild i think
  19. Thanks tomr. Turns out It was made by a Taiwanese company called flying Point. The folded in the late 90's so getting spares may be a bit of a chore i guess :(. thanks for the help chaps
  20. Anyone? :). Ive ggoled it etc but cant seem to find it,and it has no name on anyparts apart from the engine which is a RB sr 10.
  21. Can someone tell me what this truck is please ? it came in a joblot, and has a 2speed gearbox and the motor is good, ran first time .Id like to know what it is so i can source some bits for rear diff and a new tank.
  22. Ive been running a mamba monster v2 and 2200 kv in my slash 4x4 for a while now.Great fun on 4s and even better on 6s when tires and shocks actually held.Thought id tone it down abit so my kids can have a go,so after lots of reading up decided to give a tenshock SC401 v2 3800 kv a try.On first run on a 14/54 on 4s it nearly overheated in under 3 mins .According to the website these motors can take up to 5s??.Then tried a 3s but it just cogged horribly.Id assume i need to adjust timing, punch etc to get balanced performance?.What gearing would be suitable for this setup,or is the chassis a bit heavy?.Im running a robinson racing 54 steel spur setup, mipx duty shafts,x-01 spec diffs,so rolling weight is quite high.
  23. Had mine for two or so years then it broke. The pins and spring mechanism in the steering assembly snapped, leaving steering inoperable.I put it down to heavy use though .Other ise a good unit
