NuttyProfessor
Are these sound modules any good? Not cheap so I'm hoping it works well. Will be used in my Vaterra V100 so I'm hoping I can get a GTR sound.

NuttyProfessor
Just looking forward to the lift off wastegate sounds. Bit cheeky that some sounds you have to buy but I reckon it will sound pukka.
the watchman
Ive just been looking at these, thinking of putting one in my ascender in the short course guise for some v8 grumble let us know how it sounds.
Tug
RCSparks has just used one, sounded OK. I only want one for FPV filming, anything's got to sound better than the whine of an electric motor!
NuttyProfessor
You can bypass it I think via a 3rd channel if it gets annoying. Just hoping in the near future that you can add your own sounds, not just use the standard or ones you have to buy. I want my Vaterra to sound like I'm feeding a squirrel through a turbo Only downfall that I see is the loudness, higher the voltage, louder it gets so running on 2s might not be loud enough for some users. I've converted ipod amps to run in my rc's before with an mp3 player for tunes, I've never seen a sound box that could follow the trigger so its a marvel to me. Think you can also do horn sounds too with it, which is nice. The Godfather, enough said Edited February 28, 2015 by NuttyProfessor
Noj
Annoying as hell, sound weak and awful as the speaker box isn't big enough for good resonance. Some kids were running them at a drift night I attended last week, got very tedious after a few mins. Best application I have heard one in is a 'v8' LB, which for comedy was bob on and the chassis makes for a good resonance box too.
NuttyProfessor
Can always build a custom resonance chamber inside the bodyshell to produce bass or port the Ess One box with a few little holes. 30w amp though. I just want it for a novelty really. Thing is with using one for drift, your not using the shifting gears sounds like you would on a speed run so its all rev limiter and waste gate for effect so would get annoying especially if its a crap sound too. Noj
Put me off having one, even as a novelty. Weird, as a tank without sound just doesn't cut it personally... Variety is the spice and all that
NuttyProfessor
Received my ESS, sounds superb takes a bit of fettling to get the sounds right but it sounds pukka. Will do some vids over the weekend.
NuttyProfessor
Update on the ESS, was distorting on full volume, put my finger over the bass port and it cleaned the sound up so I whipped it apart and wedged some hard foam in the port inside. While I had it apart, I checked the speaker, they lied on the specs, supposed to be a 10w driver, its actually a 4 ohm 5w driver..........bar stewards! More powerful driver on the cards for me then! sean-vrs
any videos?
NuttyProfessor
I've done a vid on my facebook page, name is Luigi Macari Did find I had to crank up the turbo sound to 200% to hear it over the engine burble. Once I get a more powerful driver, I can run a higher voltage allowing more volume seeing as the box is only limited by the voltage you put in upto 6s.
NuttyProfessor
Update Running it on a separate mini 3s pack for a bit of extra volume and wedged the bassport with foam then taped it, also glued the driver in, was a bit loose. Also flipped the + and - on the speaker to flip the phase. Sound is a lot cleaner with less distortion so sounds more controlled. Still needs a higher wattage driver, its a 40mm driver by the way

Glenyboy
You should turn the shifting function on
NuttyProfessor
I did, motor was just too quick to give it enough time to shift. Blown it up by mistake by plugging it in wrong, blew the board. Bit peeved.
Glenyboy
Harsh! Funny enough I accidentally shorted a brand new esc today. Peeved myself!
NuttyProfessor
It happens, my Vaterra weren't playing ball that night, handled crap and done a runner at full speed into someone's house at 60+.

NuttyProfessor
Only busted a front diff housing and a bodypost. Seriously strong chassis. I bought spares when I bought the car just incase. Only metal parts I'm using are the ally prop and cups plus the H Edited March 21, 2015 by NuttyProfessor
