baorevo
So one of my projects took a change of direction and my multiwii pro quit the hexa frame to be implimented in a quad frame (just waiting on the esc's)..............so It was time to try an APM flight controller and i put a 2.6 APM in the hexa with external mag and 433mhz radio telemetry Here are the specs F550 hexa frame http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__56208__H500_V3_Glass_Fiber_Hexacopter_Frame_500mm_Integrated_PCB_Version.html APM 2.6 flight controller http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__56052__HKPilot_Mega_2_7_Flight_Controller_USB_GYRO_ACC_MAG_BARO.html HMC5883L external compas http://www.amazon.co.uk/Triple-Axis-Magnetometer-Breakout-HMC5883L/dp/B007XEX9V8/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1406293161&sr=8-13&keywords=HMC5883L Neo 6m ublox gps with 3dr programming implimented http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__31135__NEO_6M_GPS_Module.html 3dr 433mhz radio temlemetry http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__42847__FPV_433Mhz_Radio_Telemetry_Kit_100mW_V1_1.html Sunnysky x2212 980kv moters http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-SunnySky-X2212-KV980-Brushless-Motor-p-60600.html Hobbywing 18amp esc's http://www.banggood.com/Hobbywing-FlyFun-18A-Brushless-ESC-Speed-Controller-p-71836.html and powered by 5000mah zippy lipo's http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=38224 Now ive ironed out one hiccup i had and that was a vibration problem as i had fixed the flight controller using stand off posts as i have with my other controllers .....BUT ! the apm's i learnt are very sensitive and like to be fitted in their plastic case and stuck down on double sided sticky foam....problem solved and using the data logs (the apm controllers record various parameters that you can choose so you see how your multirotor is actually working by reading the log graphs !!!! )i found the vibrations had dampened to respectable levels and my flights are as smooth as silk . ive had a few flights put threw now and all i can say is i like it beter than my dji naza lite quad............he he the controller itself is fully packed with all the flight modes you could need and is also programmable for way points and missions. Its a great controller (fan boy lol)and for 50 dollars and 22 dollars for a gps, you cant go wrong !!!!! heres a couple of vids i did when i first set it up . loiter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXbB_91NY9w&list=UUEKmP_QCn-VMrqEqPV1pyKw RTH (return to home) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSg5wcbUslI&list=UUEKmP_QCn-VMrqEqPV1pyKw That was with no tuning whatsoever , i have since tuned the quad using its self tuning mode (autotune) that as its name says automatically tunes the quad (takes 5 mins of watching it tilt on it pitch and roll axis) making it very crisp on the commands. i got a second apm to put in a quad as i had a crash and i thought i had broken my 2.5 (it was just vibrations in fact making the hexa fly like a turd lol )so i bought a 2.6 ....... the pack is getting bigger lol ,,, addicted ? hell yes i still have my multiwii pro with external mag (adaption home made) to finish and im waiting on the parts for the apm quad but as ive given up and sold my baja's i have a few spare pennies and its a lot cheaper than upkeaping 2 baja's Edited July 25, 2014 by baorevo
