vandalbulldog
So, the Ridgecrest has developed a dry grating noise in the centre diff area. The car moves fine so thinking that the diff must have a problem. If I'm going to be stripping it down, are there any recommends to improve the drivetrain whilst its in bits?? tonysmini
Check the three screws that hold the gearbox outdrives, I had one work loose on my Wraith and make the same noise. Strip, clean and a little loctite and it's not bothered me since.
Gaz!
yep same happened on my crest too, threadlock did the job though perfectly. depending on mud and wet running etc. while you have the gearbox out, maybe worth re-newing the bearings??

vandalbulldog
10 / 10 as usual Gaz. When i stripped the box i found a seized bearing which was also fused onto the shaft running through it. No wonder there was so much noise! New bearings on order and hopefully will have it back out by weekend! VB.
