tomr
Since fitting the new wheels I’d lost just over half an inch in width, I thought I wasn’t bothered but ended up buying some 15mm hex extensions 🙂 . They arrived today so hoping to fit them before the match 👍
tomr
That worked out out better than I’d hoped it’s now back to stock width (slightly wider by a2-3mm)👍
tomr
Anyone running oil in the diffs of your XS? Im tempted just not sure it’s worth the strip down to do it.
Redback
They do seem very light if there is any oil in them, i think it would benifit from some as its very skittish spinning up the outer wheels on the loose stuff, looses all its speed and power. Need to do a complete stripdown as the lad wants to speed run it at ROSSA and its not in any shape to be driven at high speed right now.

Mmm that sounds like a good enough reason to pull the diffs out, think I’ll crack on with that today . Thanks mate 👍
tomr
That was easier than I remembered pleased I did it now 👍 Pretty much 8 bolts and the diff is out . Nice to see plenty of grease applied from the factory, shame I had to wash it all off but got them both spotless then filled with 30k oil .
Redback
I also did a strip and undid 8 bolts only to find out you can remove the diff covers with just 4 bolts and remove the diffs, they lock in so might need to loosen the front lower arm holder. The purpose of the strip was mainly to fit a 34t speed pinion, sadly due to its design longer motors and bigger than 34t pinions isnt possible, so gotta increase the volts to go faster. Hoping for at least 66mph. 😰 Also got to try and fix damage from the last outing. Lower arm pin bent quite a bit from a decent jump at a skate park. Was able to bend it back and working like new. Some how the lad managed to almost tear the entire rear skid plate off on a runway thats completely flat, he found something to hit haha. Going to put metal plates over to try and remove the lip that likes to catch on things. The hit also twisted the rear bulk head plate, you can see the slight bulge on the left. Filled the diffs with 50k and they dont really feel any diffrent, still quite loose, what oil did you guys use? Also took out the flux 3s esc, that now lives in an outlaw, replaced it with a Hobbywing Max10 SCT that fits perfect into the little esc cage, 4s power baby! Lowered it to its max, will try these STC wheels but if those fail 1/8th hoons and wheel adaptors at the ready to push it to the ton. Any one fitted an after market motor to these or done any mods to put in bigger motors? Thinking a spur drive might work due to the way the diffs cups are setup. Redback
Any one else got a speed read from their XS Got 50mph exactly on 3 passes then another 2 passes, same reads both times on 3s 120c on max 10 sct with 34t pinion. The stock esc should be good for 65 so it says so this should be good for more. It should do 65mph with stock tires, these are the same size just dont balloon to the same size as the stock ones, the hoons are even smaller feels like the motor just lacks the torque to push it faster. Or the esc for some reason lacks the power to push the motor harder, would have thought going from 60amp to 120amp would have had some positive impact not make it slower lol

Have you had the chance to run it since sticking 50k in? I went 30k front/rear on mine but still not run it yet, the diffs do feel a lot tighter than when grease filled though . Yes the speed test was with 50k oils and maybe i didnt put in enough, they are a bit tighter than they were before but havent run it on loose stuff as keeping it clean for speed runs right now.

leongordon234
Cheers will take a look I received the xs off ebay yesterday It's been abit neglected it seems and its covered in either diff oil or shock oil as its really sticky everywhere. So it's a full strip down, clean and regrease Plus listing the bolts missing and rounded to get replaced I plugged a battery into it and it drives alright but the rear wheels click and I think the clutch is slipping. Abit of fettling and should be good to go

Guzzy96
Hey guys new here, just recently got myself a XS and its crazy fast on 3s. Literally only gave it 1 drive today. So far I am impressed, but did have a lil tumble and body is scratched and some how made a little tinny hole at the back. Anyways, still in decent condition. I was wondering if any of you lads could help me and maybe suggest a few body shells that fit the XS. The HPI shells are pricey but it seems stocks are very low here in Australia so I'm willing to try other body shells. Thanks 😊
leongordon234
A slight update on the rebuild Slow progress due to recently becoming a parent 😁 I stripped it all to bits, used brake cleaner and soaked parts in the sink and I have fainlly got everything pretty much clean The chassis is still slightly tacky but It will do Stripped the centre gearbox down and replaced the slipper pads Clean and slightly greased all the moving bits with some wurth lubricant. Both diffs have been cleaned out, bearings cleaned, greased and re filled with min tex brake lube which I find works great I also put new gaskets on the diffs too Had to replace a bearing on the diff as it had come apart and drive cup on one side A few threaded screws have been extracted and replaced Here is where I'm up to atm Today I received 2 boxes of parts to finish the rebuild and some refresh parts plus spares Will update again soon

Thanks 😊 The body's do usually tend to wear through on the rear shock towers after tumbles I just reinforce with fibre tape In regards to shells I dont know of that many other than hpi There is the rubicorn shell 106704 I think people have adapted crawler shells to fit too

leongordon234
So a little update, I managed some time to myself this evening to cut out a new shell I have been waiting a while for modelsport to get it back into stock Cut it with the craft knife and gave it a slight scissor trim Need to ream the holes, mount and paint next Also here are a few pics of the shelf queen I have been working on I bought some integy parts off ebay quite a while back and I wasn't going to open them just yet but why not I also found some anodised pink hex bolts online which I think goes quite nice with the orange More pics to follow Edited November 15, 2021 by leongordon234 Forgot to add some information
leongordon234
Few more pictures of the shelf queen / soft runner 😂 Fitted the shocks I found on ebay for a good price I heard the shocks for the axial scx10 fit too and there are some nice ones on ebay Planning on axle extenders & some nice wheels I think the pink goes well with the black I might of also pressed a few buttons on ebay 😂 Did someone say SS kit..... 🤔
leongordon234
Might of accidentally pressed too many buttons on ebay 😂😂 Found this SS on ebay for a good price plus it came with quite a few spares to add to my already growing collection in the tool box 👍 Need to refill the shocks as they are soft and give it a once over as the previous owner used to run it on the beach I like how on the SS the body mount as reinforced Tempted to swap the good bits over to my main xs but not sure yet Hopefully will be able to give this a run when I get 5 mins to see what it's like 🤔

You could use the led strip off ebay and use a 9v battery or plug it into your receiver with the suitable connector They do kits on ebay as well that you just plug in
