  1. Thanks for the reply. The first part of your answer is what I was after, appreciate that AVC is Spektrum only. Been flirting with the idea of a Spektrum DX4 / 5 for a while, and for an initial outlay of around £100 I can get the Tx with 1 AVC Rx, but its the additional Rx cost that's putting me off. I don't need AVC on all my cars, only 1 at the moment really so was hoping there was a lower budget alternative. Been looking at the Flysky GT5 6CH, but can't find any info if that has any Gyro functionality.
  2. I'm aware of the AVC function provided by the Spektrum range of radio gear, but who else produces gear that supports this kind of protocol? Are any of the alternatives comparable in terms of price / value?
  3. Still looking, anyone traded up over Xmas and have something available to trade on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hi guys and gals. I'm looking to get my 9 year old twins a RTR RC car for xmas this year with a budget sub-£200 and have pretty much narrowed down the huge range of options to the following; Traxxas. Rustler XL 5 RTR Traxxas Stampede XL 5 RTR The thought was to get one of each so that they are similar but not the same ( anyone with twins will understand the dilemma of treating them equal but not getting the same things all the time! ) From the description of the Stampede it seems to say that the built in ESC can handle 2s LiPo, but there is no such statement on the Rustler even though the ESC appears to be the exact same one, Can anyone say for sure that it can handle 2s? This would be very useful as I already have a number of 2s packs and a charger which would save me buying NiMH ones. I had considered the FTX Carnage but they are very limited stock at the moment and Xmas is only a week away. Does anyone have any other suggestions within this kind of budget?
  5. If you decide to split I could be interested in any motor / ESC combos, servos and radio gear depending on details etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I’ve always used sticks but been thinking of getting a wheel set. Anyone got anything decent for sale? No real budget in mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Oh, no idea what gearing either! ~~Total newbie ~~ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Currently building up my TA-07 Pro kit and getting close to the point I need to make a decision on what motor to put in it so looking for some options please. This will get majority of its use on the newly laid tarmac car park at work, unlikely to be raced ( although there is a club / track nearby so maybe one day! ) https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-waterproof-1-10-brushless-power-system-3520kv-80a.html?wrh_pdp=1 Opinions on this combo? To high / low kv or turns? I’m still understand the differences in these specs but completely in the dark as to why high or low turns/kv really matters so any advice is welcome. 9. Gonna enjoy building this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Looking for first hand knowledge of these 2 kits, or well founded opinions. TA-07 Really like the look of the belt drive in this one, but finding UK stock is proving difficult. Some of the HK suppliers seem to have stock of the PRO kit, but none of the R which would obviously be my preference given all that it includes. Did Tamiya stop making the R now? TB-05 TB-05 Pro is also a nice kit and available in UK stock. I'm not opposed to buying from abroad but UK stock would avoid potential import duty etc. Is there likely to be an R kit in this model? May be worth waiting for if that's on the horizon. Thanks in advance of any information anyone can provide.
  11. Just started thinking of getting back in to RC and noticed that hardly anyone seems to make unassembled kits any more. Few years back I bought a TLR 22 and loved building it, and then got a second hand 1/8 buggy. At that time there were several other makes also offering kits, Team Durango for example but I notice they have gone from the market now. Serpent were also offering kits then as well if I remember correctly. Now thinking of something else. Really like the look of the Arrma 1/8th scale, especially the Kraton but its only available RTR. Does anyone still make kits? I know Tamiya make a lot, but are they actually any good, or will I be looking for hop-ups straight away? Or are there any kits that include the necessary hop-ups at purchase? I expect first responses will be "what budget?" and "what type of model do I want?" but neither of those are really game breakers, I enjoy the build as much as the driving in the most part. My only red line if electric rather than nitro or petrol. I already have sone LiPos and charger etc. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  12. I would defiantly put a Delta shell on, think I'd go for the Martini livery if possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Been thinking of building one of these as Rally spec for a while, will be watching this progress with interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. So excluding that one from Argos, what would be a good first Quad for around that kind of money? I'm just starting to get interested in this field and would like similar advice as the OP. Possibly on a slightly lower budget, say under £200? Not after anything special, just something decent to learn to fly one of these, and maybe with the possibility of adding features in the future. Or is it better to buy basic to learn, then invest again on a complete new model when ready for more advanced features? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I've just started looking at an airborne camera of some sort. Quad copter etc. Early days of planning though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
