  1. Hi, thanks, yes I do mean hobbywing. For some reason I kept reading it as hobbyking but my phone kept auto correcting to hobbywing and I kept changing it back. 🙂 so if I get this right the hobbywing combo is more likely to take bigger adjustments with pinion and spur size changes thus adjusting speed/acceleration and effectively be faster in that respect with more durability not burning out etc?
  2. Can someone please tell me why the hobbyking motors are better than the standard brushless already included with my vantage?. For example, if I was to compare my etronix 2950kv Vs a hobbyking max10 3300kv combo, both on 3s, apart from the kv, what makes the hobbyking better, because by my extremely limited knowledge, a lower kv means more torque, meaning more acceleration correct? And a higher kv means a faster top speed? So can someone Lend me some Insight as to why the hobbyking is an actual improvement over the etronix please? I am not doing speed runs, I just take it out for fun off road, acceleration is my fun factor, not top speed, although, obviously the overall top speed plays a part as I don't want it dead slow,
  3. So I've just received my sway bars for my vantage, but only realise now they don't come with everything I need to attach, need sway bar clips by the looks of it and I'm not sure what else, can someone point me in the direction of which screws I would need to attach them please? Can't see any threads as such for where there supposed to go? Edit: ignore, don't worry it comes with everything in the bag. Was just acting blind
  4. Well the main thing is I am enjoying the car. It is my first car in many years so many things to learn, it was pretty swift out of the box but I always like making things a little different or the best they can be, so I would always probably upgrade whichever model I had chosen. The great thing with the vantage is that their are loads of spares available and it doesn't break the bank if you need to replace a couple items. I've taken it out on 3 runs so far, I've bent a shock and lost a screw from the underside, but I guess that's my fault for not checking them all before driving it, I was just excited to get going again, but I've no doubt the screw will cheap to replace. I've ordered a couple parts too, steel spur and pinions, new shocks (obviously) front bumper (to protect shocks) and some sway bars. I've no doubt they probably wouldn't be up to the standard of the higher end stuff like losi and kyosho, but I didn't pay losi or kyosho money and I'm not racing either so I'm really not bothered. It's just a bit of fun for me and the kids
  5. Not understanding any more than the basics, can anyone point me in the right direction for my best usage case. The current motor in my ftx vantage is the standard brushless, etronix 2950kv and can apparently handle 3s for more power. I'm possibly looking at later down the line, a hobbywing combo to put in for a bit more speed. So really my questions are for my use would higher kv on 2s or lower kv with 3s be better, and whichever you suggest, how would my current setup with just a 3s compare to it please? Also would upgrading the servo give much improvement in the handling/cornering? Are there any good/recommended ones for the vantage please that would fit? Many thanks
  6. Just to update this thread I ended up going with a vantage in the end (RTR Brushless version). I'm really happy with it, obviously things I'd like to do but it seems like a fun car for just bashing about in with my boys and their cars. Although I do need to relearn some driving skills before going full throttle again probably 🙂
  7. Such as? I do like the way they look but some YouTube reviews on them made me wary regarding quality and manufacturer support/parts?
  8. Thanks for the great help and great info, I would leave everything else really for now to keep to budget a bit better, but of course, maybe an average but not bad 3s battery recommendation to make the most of motor? Nothing crazy, just to get me started with 3s power please - what would you recommend? Thanks again
  9. Thanks, I will look at this vantage and brushless combo for sure. would I need anything else other than that? Would the standard radio work with it and would I need a new motor mount / pinion or anything else please? I'm pretty good at fixing/repairing things so I don't have a problem getting my hands dirty, just want to know everything will be there if I order the car + the combo. Many thanks
  10. Hi guys. Starting out again completely fresh in the first time for over 15 years, so I need everything again, looking for the impossible, good quality, upgradeable and fast out of the box, but I'll settle for a good all rounder of course. My choices so far are: Strada xb brushless Abisma ab3.4 Ftx vantage brushless Associated reflex 14b LC racing emb 1h But then I wonder would it be worth getting the more expensive arrma typhon brushed model and upgrading it later on? I just wanted a brushless setup from the get go really and it is over my budget so trying to avoid that if at all possible, plus I don't know if I would need to purchase batteries etc on top thanks for looking at another question you lot have probably seen a thousand times over.
  11. So for someone looking at the Strada xb brushless model after being away from the game for well over 15 years, is this a good model to start out with, with a. View to progressing and upgrading a bit later on. Any common problems to look out for please? Got so many buggies on my shopping list really unsure between this one, the abisma ab3.4 and the ftx vantage brushless. If anyone can advise between those three It would be really appreciated
  12. Hi, I'm looking at possibly buying the brushless rtr model of the maverick Strada xb, I'm wanting to know how fast do these go to and how do they handle out of the box please? Also the all important question can they take a 3s battery on stock internals, I've had a quick look around the web, but can't find an answer many thanks

  14. So also please, what would be quicker acceleration wise out of the Trophy 4.6 and the Hong Nor X1X-CR and also which would be quicker top end out of the box
  15. availability of the xray seems to be somewhat limited so Im guessing there may be a lack of spares/upgrades? Also quite expensive really, not looking to go
  16. Ok I know I have chosen some truggies and some buggies and I guess its just partially down to preference, but Im not quite sure what I will be doing with it, proabbly mainly grass/mud track and mucking about, not going to be for competition use but I don't want to get bored with how slow it is either, Im a bit of a speed junkie although thats not main priority. Which would be best for a mediocre driver returning back to the sport, want something thats fun and wont break in 5 minutes and is also user friendly, guess I want it all eh? Your suggestions please?
  17. Damn dude if you wernt so far away id probably have that off you, can you meet anywhere in the middle between your place and essex?
  18. thanks, very useful Reply, Im a bit wary of going 2wd just because of the difference compared to 4wd, is it worth being worried about for a pretty fast car, or is 2wd more fun? I know it is in road cars anyway, but is it FWD or RWD (assuming RWD)
  19. Trophy is for sale on modelsport website so i hope its out. Also another to add to the Mix the Kyosho DST/DBX readysets sorry, more confusion
