  1. So last weekend was a busy one, with the help of some good friends we were able to transform the golf in just 3 days! i'll let the pics do the talking, there is also a timelapse video of the respray and refitting at the end of this post! rolled it into work, setup a bay and removed the whole front end and bumper to spray that seperatly keying the paint, removing rust and started setting up the makeshift spray booth booth done, windows masked, repaired patches primered... its go time! in the meantime, tyres have been fitted! done, bump strips going on... ditched those crappy clips for some sikaflex, looks so much better.... yeah i still need to sort that arch, thats a job for another day being assembled Ta Da! and its party trick! and here is the video it still need a lot of flatting and polishing, the bonnet is all i have done so far i've made a couple of trick bits for it such as a magnetic front numberplate and 'quick release' front bumper which i can put pics up of if anyone is interested i just need to sort my front arches/tyres/fitment now as its catching the arches bad, i can hardly steer! but i'll get it sorted as i want to go a touch lower on the front... because i can!
  2. so we had a nice crash at British GT last bank holiday Monday, i'll let the pics do the talking... but we had it back out on track on the friday
  3. been doing some more welding on the sills, just need to get some white underseal heres the new wheel colour too! I only have two of them sprayed up atm its amazing how much paint was on them, this is after being sand blasted
  4. This weekend was the 2nd weekend of the Ginetta Supercup. It was an amazing weekends racing with Tom finishing 1st in the last race, after a mad start of pushing his car backwards up the grid and into the pit lane and swapping it onto the slick tyres, then starting from the pit lane heres the coverage from the race, its a good watch! http://youtu.be/mgLE1bWIjUA the grid Tom on the podium again and heres a quick one of Tom Oliphant and Rick Parfitt Jnr's GT4 car... this was previously 'The Player' car
  5. So here is the 2014 line up we have two G55's in the Ginetta GT4 supercup which runs on the same weekends as the BTCC we have two G55's in the British GT GT4 championship and two G40's in the GT5 challenge plus a customers G50 trackday car heres the full workshop, most of the cars are still awaiting their colour schemes for this season At the track this season im running Tom Oliphant in the Supercup and Tom Oliphant and Rick Parfitt Jnr in the GT4 championship, should be a good year heres Toms supercup car and the two G40s at a test day it was the first round of Supercup last weekend at Brands Hatch Jamie Orton and Tom waiting in the assembly area Tom on the podium, he finished 2nd in the final race of the weekend! and is currently 3rd in the overall championship

heres an update! got rid of the harnesses for some standard seat belts, all nice and standard in side now other than the addition of a wooden Nardi steering wheel uprated the clutch with the help of Mr Bodgemonkey, its good for around 350hp now so has stopped the slippage Got myself some new wheels, the main idea was to allow me to use a wider tyre for some more grip! however as much as i like them they are maybe a bit too flashy for the sleeper look it had going on so i may swap them out for some banded steels these are 14x7 Basset racing steels, which are what are used on Nascars

Dont know exactly but it should be in the 200-250 region
  8. Heres both of our supercup cars on the shakedown day at Blyton park Tom Oliphant in the black one and Jamie Orton in the white one We then did 3 days 'hot weather testing' in Portimao, Portugal which was amazing! we ran some extra sensors and pots on Jamies car to record data, damper pots and tyre temperature sensors mainly, all of which i had to make little mounts and brackets for awesome track too not many tracks have a swimming pool! then this week we did some testing at Brands Hatch, the weather was quite the opposite! at the end of the 2nd day Tom stuck it in the gravel! brilliant, anyone need some gravel? oh well, its all part of testing, some times you get it right, some times you dont, he was putting in some very quick times beforehand and our fancy new car covers, batmobile?
  9. it does look sexy! I cant actually find the genuine pro version anywhere, i would have thought it would be more than
  10. yeah i did have a quick read of your thread i know its a clone but i was looking at one like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271348781151?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 i believe it already comes with the better driveshafts and all the other goodies other than the belt tensioner

haha yeah i love it, looking for some original volvo wheel trims at the moment! already shown up a couple of cars with it, just have to be careful in the wet as its got a locked diff it gets loads of attention too, just for being a clean looking classic car
  12. i never got round to replying after i first read this! but thanks very much! i've had a go with a friends MST chassis and decided i'd like to switch to a CS chassis and start fine tuning my setup and skills from there, as to be honest this TC3 is pretty knackered!
  13. So i've gone to Radshape a couple of times now for some drifting fun with my TC3, but it really has shown me how dated that chassis is, although it does work ok so im wanting to get a budget countersteer chassis, the 3racing Sakura seems to be the best chassis for the money? i've been reading a few threads and they seem to be good chassis with a few upgrades, so what bits would i be looking at upgrading? i've also seen there are clones about, are they good quality? wheres the best place to get them from? any info on them is much appreciated!

Dont worry, i still have the Golf! heres my new toy though 1985 Volvo 360, its modified to drift and is running slightly more power than standard i picked it up for
  15. Does anyone know if a countersteer setup exists for a TC3 or TC4 chassis? its shaft drive so i would need different ratio diff gears. I've started going to Radshape RC in Birmingham, its really fun but everyone else is running newer cars with countersteer setups... i can drive around it fine, however my line and my speed is waaaay different so i end up getting held up/holding people up as the track is usually pretty busy! if there is none available, what could i do to my car to help it drift the tighter corners and just generally drift a bit slower?
  16. We have our nice shiny new cars for this season, its so nice working on new cars! The black one is the one i will be working on for the season been going over them this week, making sure everything is as it should be, spent most of a day getting the floor completely flat
  17. MOT time has come around! had it in yesterday and it didnt actually do too bad, some tyres, a CV boot and a bit of welding, all of which i knew about well... all of it other than this hole which has me rather confused, its on the outside edge of the sill rail in the middle of the car, its a bit rusty around the edges but is a pretty clean hole like something has punched right through it got a whole new driveshaft as euro car parts had a massive sale on this weekend, the old boot was a bit knackered! haha also eyeing up some new wheels for this season, opinions?
  18. So i've been wanting to get it running a bit nicer whilst still being low, i gained some height from running the G60s as the tyre is a bit bigger than on my cups, so i had a bit of room to go down again I've put on a pair of lower ball joint extenders and flipped the tie rods to underneath the hub rather than on top, the tie rods were hitting on the chassis pretty bad, after flipping them i have a good 20mm clearance, the ball joint extenders keep the arms parallel with the track rod to eliminate bump steer and also stop the inner arm hitting on the subframe i also put on a pair of supersport lowering top mounts, these are supposed to lower it by 20mm but i would say mine has gone even further! i need to raise it up because my tyres are scrubbing like mad with any kind of steering input but its currently sat with about 10mm clearance to the subframe, splitter has about 5mm clearance and its pretty much tucking 15"s! but mainly the top mounts allow me to still run low but gain back some of my suspension travel and get some ride quality back!
  19. We had a test day at Pembrey this week we also ran a GT3 Ginetta
  20. Halfords didnt have the VW Smoke Grey so this is BMW Graphite Grey
  21. new colour for the G60s, will be a while yet till they are all done... not sure the pictures really show it off fully, its amazing!
  22. the G60s are only on for winter cups will be back next year!
  23. Its been a while! i've been really busy over summer witth work, done a few odd little bits on the golf but its mainly stayed the same i've been mainly trying to get it a little bit lower and also getting it so it can be driven low without smashing everything to bits heres how it ended summer '13, had a temporary dark blue bumper on there which i started to quite like the look of... was tempted to get a pov spec black textured one to run Chassis Notched and engine raised using a hockey puck on each mount, sump sits a good 10-20mm above subframe now swapped to the winter wheels, ran the teardrops for a bit but they are now sold and i've got myself a set of G60s also gave it its first clean since edition38 lol i've got a set of 5 G60s so i decided to start refurbing them one by one, been trying out the sandblaster at work, its small and takes a while but gives a perfect finish, this is bare metal after beingg blasted had a go with the MIG welder at work too to plate up my spare sump, this is the first time i've used a MIG but its pretty straight forward really! the sumps probably a bit overkill, its got a 5mm plate over the bottom of it and then another 3mm plate over the bulge where the sump plug sits... i've still got a little more to do on it
  24. So its kinda died down a bit now race season has finished, we're still keeping busy doing test days and track days but i wont have much to post in here really We did a Britcar night race at Donnington a few weeks ago which was cool, finished 1st in class and 3rd overall despite losing a wheel on the last lap! light up number boards lining up for the start of the race workshop my Boss's MR2 is now in the workshop I had to go pick some parts up from Ginetta this week, the factory is pretty cool
  25. Cheers everyone I've just been lacking spare time since starting my uni placement, that and not having a fully functioning computer for a couple of months!
