Hi All I need more chargers! So i currently have an old SkyRC mains charger and two ToolkitRC M8 chargers. i currently have the following batteries: 4x 2S 1500mA packs 1x 3S 1300mA pack (i dont use this much) 2x 4S 4500mA packs and will eventually get two 2S shorty packs. i like to charge at 1C, so at the moment, it takes a while. These are obviously for different cars, and i dont typically take all the cars out at once, but it would be nice to have that option, so i'd quite like to be able to charge all of them simultaneously. For the four 2s 1500mA packs, i dont need much power. 8.4V at 1500mA is only about 13W max, so i first thought about the Toolkit M4 (£30 ish), and get four of them. The charge currents are either 1A, 2A, 3A or 5A, so not really ideal, but i could work with that. Then i saw the toolkitRC Q4AC (£65-£80) 4 channels, can be powered from the mains (the power limit wouldn't be a factor in this case), which would leave my DC PSUs available for other chargers. You save money by only having one display and one scroll wheel. Unless your at the cutting edge of electronics, the housing, connectors, switches display etc, are by far the biggest costs of a product. The electronics are less than peanuts. But its an "all eggs, one basket" approach, and ive read a few iffy comments about it on reliability. On that same reddit page (i think it was) there was a few recommendations for HOTA chargers. Ive not heard about them before, but they have the F6 (£120 ish, limited uk suppliers by the look of it): Same sort of thing, but more expensive. This one is DC only, but there is the F6+ that has PSU built in. More power and 6S, which i dont really need. Ive read a few comments about these failing too. channels going dead etc, same as the Q4AC above. So i could do the 2s1500mA batteries on here, the 4S batteries on the two ToolkitRC M8s and get another dual charger for the two shorties down the line. But maybe i'd be better off with a bunch of single or dual chargers instead? Ive been reasonably happy with the ToolkitRC M8s that ive got, the old mains skyRC charger can be used on transmitter batteries, its ideal for that. I can do that in the house in front of the TV, i use NIMH batteries in the transmitters. Any thoughts in general or experience with either of these two? Or toolkitRC & HOTA in general? Cheers

Thanks Alex Soldering is no problem for me, so i could go either way. £50 Max10 G2, 80A £72 Max10 G2 140A £45 10BL120 - sensored or non sensored £52 10BL120 G2 - non sensored only, (which seems like a strange move), waterproof and does 4S (which doesnt really help me) its bigger too. The £45 option looks like the way to go to me, but there isnt really a lot in it price wise. While any of them will likely be fine, obsessing over the details is part of the fun! 🙂

Great, ill check out that fan mount. Ive seen the charts with Kv vs turns before, and realise its just a guide. Although, even comparing turns to turns, or kv to kv, i dont have enough experience to know what difference 4.5t vs 7.5t would make, or what 3500kv against 5000kv would be. All my models are different scales, and since i dont race anyway, i just pick up something used/cheap. Ill do some more research on the subject. Thanks

Thanks for that. I was looking at the speed passion motors today, but i think the 4.5 was on the limit for the esc. As you say, the others might be more sensible. Apart from them being sensored, how would they be, performance wise from the hobbywing 4000kv motor i have now? Ive also been locking on that site for lipos, though not those ones specifically, so i was on the right track i think Thanks

Hi All Ive bought a new unbuilt B74 kit (not .1 or .2) from ebay for a good price. I love building kits, but its largely either Tamiya, or pricey race cars. I dont race, so cant justify the cost of those kits, just for something to build. Anyway, i'm going to need a few bits to finish it off. I'm not racing, but i wouldnt mind if it was proper quick 😊 Motor - I have a Hobbywing EZRUN 3652 SL G2 4000KV from a Max10 combo. I could use this for a while, but i'm tempted to try out a sensored motor, just because ive not tried one before. ESC - The ESC from the max 10 combo mentioned above, is the 60A one. Its currently in an LC Racing LC12B1. i could move it back out of that and put it in here, but would the 60A be too limiting? - i could go Hobbywing 10BL120, and run the motor above, and switch to something sensored later if i wanted... any better options that are similar ish in price? New Max10 G2 80A does sensored, but seems to have its own connector? Servo - I have a Hobbyking something or other which will do for now. Battery - I guess its Shortys for these? some low price options on Hobbyking, but all out of stock. Cheap ones from model shops start around £30+ a few used options around, but i'm not so keen on second hand lipos. any suggestions here? Thanks guys

Ok, apparently the fastrax tyres weigh around 190 - 200g for a pair in the packet @lorrylemming are you able to confirm this by weighing a wheel for me? The Standard LC racing truggy tyres weigh 120g a pair in the packet. I have some LC truggy wheels with schumacher venom tyres on that weigh 76g each (no packaging), and its fine with those. So double that (152g) and add a bit for a bag (5-10g maybe if it also has a card label), and we probably arent that far off. Outer diameter seems about the same. Offset is a mystery as usual but it seems like they will stick out more than the standard ones. What do we think guys? Will they be worth a try? if so, Jigsaw or stinger?

Hi all I took the truggy to a local bashing spot in the summer and really struggled for grip with the standard truggy wheels. Its a very loose sandy dusty dirt surface. I do ok with the 1/8th truggy, with proline bowties/holeshot combo. but the weight and size of the car probably helps to a point. I have a spare set of the truggy wheels, so ive been looking for 10th scale buggy rears with some chunky tread which hopefully might be better. The best option i can find, which arent really pricey. is the schumacher mini spike. I also spotted these from fastrax: They look like the have an offset, but they dont state what it is. i emailed them but they "dont have this information", which is helpful. dont think LC racing state the offset either, but i could measure it from the ones i have. Has anyone tried them? LC racing now seem to have a "heavy duty" truggy tyre, which would probably be better than the standard, but it still looks fairly shallow. I saw someone state a few pages ago, that the monster truck wheels and tyres are the same outer diameter as the truggy tyres, can someone confirm this? or have i misunderstood? Anyone got any better suggestions? Thanks

Thanks The LC racing wheels are a bit bigger than the regular 2.2" buggy wheels, so the CAT blocks i dont think would go on. I saw the blockades, buy they pretty pricey for some reason, but they do look like a good option. not sure i could justify that price though when the schumachers can be had for about half that. they are an expensive option for sure.

Hi all I have an LC racing 1/14 scale truggy. last summer i ran it in the hills in Sandy and i struggled for grip. 1/10 scale rear buggy tyres fit the wheels, so i'm looking for something to give me more grip. This is not racing, just bashing. The surface is very loose sandy (how the town got its name) surface, I do ok with my 1/8th truggy with proline bowtie/holeshot mix. That could be the extra weight of the car helping to a point. There are firm muddy spots too, so i dont want to go for paddles or anything like that The LC racing tyres look like this, so quite a shallow tread: Would i be better with something spikey, like Schumacher mini spike? (I did think about full spikes, or the blocks, but blocks are only in CAT sizes, and full spikes are out of stock everywhere) there doesnt seem to be much similar to bowties, with wider blocks on the them to help grip the sandy surface, for 1/10... Any suggestions? I need tyres on there own, to mount to the LC wheels... alternatively, i could use some hub spacers and regular buggy rears all round (or 4wd fronts too i guess). looks like a nice kit. shame the lipos i already have for the other LC racing cars dont fit, they are too long at 85mm.... maybe i could print something... hmmmm... i'll have a think
