  1. I have just brought a SMD twin motor starter box, can someone please help- What are the best battery to run it on Either two 7.2v stick packs or a single 12v battery? Any help would be great.
  2. Thanks for the advise guys!! i was thinking of the RC8 but your not the first person to say they are of lower quality than some of the others...... any one else got an RC8 out there? would like to know a few more thoughts on this car.... As for engines i will check out the Os speeds, have you had any experience with RB Ws7? of Rossi Mamber?....?
  3. Thanks Mr T, are all parts available easily for the Xray? if there one thing in life i hate its buying something and not being able to get parts for them when they break.
  4. As title says im after a new 1/8th buggy (kit form not RTR) for racing, Do any of you racers have any recomendations....? I was thinking of either.... * RC8 * Hyper 8.5 pro * Lossi 8 price not a major issue (not silly money though)!! I mainly want something that will handle well (obvouisly setup will affect this i know, but a good starting point at least) Why im on the racing subject, any idea for an engine, i was thinking Rb, Os?? around the
  5. Sounds like you might have interfearance, have you used the car in this area before? i used to have a problem down my road with this (not quite as bad as yours by the sound of it...) but the servos had a mind of there own. if you try the car somewhere else and it still happens then i have no idea........ move to 2.4ghz radio and have no problems at all! (apart from the large dent in your bank account)
  6. Most starter boxes are ok for all hypers, they have adjustable pegs so you can adjust them to suit your car, i have a entry level one (single motor) which is ok but looking back i wish i had brought a twin motor version, it works fine starting the car when warm but from cold you do need a nice charger up battery otherwise she struggles a little. The should last for a long while if you look after it. Not sure there re-sale value, check ebay........ If you can afford it go for a twin motor version, much better imo. Not sure about the back plate/cover....... As for throttle servo, just pop of the arm that connects at the carb end, its a little ball joint that just pops out with a little force. Hope this helps
  7. Thanks for the advise, do you fill them right to the brim?
  8. I have a hyper 7 so my radio box is diffrent to yours on the hyper 8, my brother has a hyper 8.5 though (which im sure has the same radio box as the 8 pro) he has a hump pack, its a tight fit but it goes in, but you have a futaba receiver which will be smaller than the standard receiver so the hump pack will fit in nice. Dont by a stick pack these wont fit in the radio box. Check that the 8.5 rtr and your hyper have the same radio box before you take my advise
  9. Hi All, I want to re oil my diffs on my hyper 7, i have a couple of quick questions that im hoping someone can help 1. when i get the diff out of the outer plastic case is a simple case of removing the screws and filling with oil? 2.Do they use a gasket and do you need to replace this when changing oil? 3. Do you need any special tools? 4. And the most important question... What oil weights shall i run, i mainly use my car for Race/track use on a astro turf track. Any info on diffs and oil would be great!
  10. Yeah if you have "digital" servo's use the HRS mode. I tried putting it on HRS mode (with normal servo's) and it didnt like it at all, but for you i would run on HRS, then the fail safe system works as well! (if i remember right?) p.s What are the digital servo's like? they should be really fast and responsive with the 2.4ghz
  11. Hi, I have the Futaba 3GR system which also has ppm and hrs, im not exactly sure what they stand for but i use the std PPM mode, dont quote me on this but i think HRS stands for "High response servo's" all i know is, its only best to use it on HRS mode if you have digital servos's (hyper 7's dont) Im sure someone will tell you the exact answer but Hope this helps.
  12. If you are gona buy Byron ( very good choice imo, any many other people im sure) just get 25%, like Mr T said engine wear hardly any diffrent. 25% will make the car go slightly faster, and above all else Byron 20% is like Rocking horse S*** to get hold of.
  13. I have just brought myself a new Futaba 3gr 2.4ghz radio system, got it all setup ok (i think...) my servo's do not twitch now like they did with the old 27mhz stuff which is great But..... When driving the car (just around my house/road) to check if everthing is ok, every now and then i will be turning say left (with the stick held firmly left) and the steering will turn right for a few seconds and then back to left again Anyone had any experiance with this? i can only put it down to interfearance but i thought there was none with 2.4ghz? Like i say above no twitching just this odd movement of the servo every now and then. Any help would be great.
