    Packing the diffs

I recently purchased two Tamiya 54875 TT-02 Oil Gear Differential Units. I went with 100K & 50K cst oil in the front, 3K & 5K cst oil for the rear. The track where I race can feature low grip areas, sometimes dusty and loose... good for keeping you on your toes. Will experiment with weightier oils later however, I got a base idea to work from thanks to this guide and the TA08 Pro manual. 👍

    Packing the diffs

I've decided to go with two of the Tamiya 54875 TT-02 Oil Gear Differential Units. The club track is based outdoors and it's based on a clean car park surface, so I guess the final question is what oil for the front and rear?

How about this? The AW grease that comes with the kit is tiny! 😠

    Packing the diffs

It's plastic-on-plastic. It was suggested to me to use CORE RC High Performance Lithium Grease. Pack the front fully and lightly coat the rear diff?
  5. Good morning, hope your all doing well today? Need help and advice on a TT02R kit that I'm currently looking to build soon to which I have several hop-ups ready and waiting for racing. Both diffs are plastic-on-plastic gearing, the manual is recommending the use of AW grease. I've been following the advise that you want your front differential to be stiffer than the rear diff to ensure that the chassis handles well around corners. Can anyone advise on how-to pack these diffs accordingly to get the performance desired and is AW the right grease method to use for this.
  6. Have to agree on this. I've decided to purchase the Tamiya 54752 TT-02 Steering Upgrade Parts Set and 2x Tamiya 54947 TT-02 Carbon Damper Stay II. I couldn't get my hands on a reasonably priced set of TRF dampers so decided to make an order for the Yeah Racing Shock-Gear 55mm Damper Set as I've seen quite a few positive comments on this set. UPDATE Following on from a previous posting above. I've now ordered Tamiya 53585 3mm Shim Sets, Tamiya 53587 5mm Shim Sets, Tamiya 9805922/19805922 Urethane Bushings, Yeah Racing Alloy Wheel Hex Washer Set (Thick 6mm) and finally Yeah Racing Alloy Wheel Spacer 0.5mm/1.0mm Set. These new additions should remove any slop, help tightening tolerances and minimise wear on certain parts like the drive, shafts and other areas of the chassis.
  7. I've been looking into this more over the past few weeks and may pull the trigger on the YR 55mm damper set, also contemplating the TAMIYA 54753 TT-02 CVA Super Mini Shock Set. If I do go down the YR path, I'm thinking of replacing the O-rings with Tamiya 42359 TRF O-rings. Feedback suggest that the YR O-rings appear to crack overtime?
  8. I've scoured the internet looking and the price is far too high for this kit however, I've got a few price matches on Kyosho Optima kits that will make a good substitute. Choices, choices...
  9. The price! 😮 You had a good buy there but I'm not familiar with SCModels so I'll go have a browse there shortly.
  10. Top Force Evo is a very nice build and quality to match. When and where did you purchase that Egress Black Edition from for £299 and I wasn't aware there was another ReRe coming?
  11. Having recently returned a Tamiya XV-02RS PRO Chassis kit I've been thinking of a replacement. I've never owned a Kyosho before so followed up on a few video reviews of some kits I'm considering. The quality looks outstanding and wondered if anyone here has hands on experience with either or both of the mentioned title kits?
  12. Just returned my XV-02RS PRO Chassis kit as I don't see myself building it now and thinking of purchasing the Tamiya Egress Black Edition. How do your rate the overall build, quality and running experience compared to say the Avante? Also... noticed the price has somewhat spiked from the suggested £379 to £499! 😠 I have the Top Force Evo and that's a quality kit, but would like something equal if not better to go with it?

    Oil & Grease

I've also ordered Tamiya 53042 Ball Diff Grease and Tamiya 87099 Cera-Grease HG as you can guarantee I'll run out at some-point in the instructions. One oddity that recently got recently was Synthetic Rubber Cement?

Believe it or not I did think of that! 😁

    Tools!

I've checked and stock many however, I wondered if there was an all-in-one/multi tool for toe, camber etc? I also wonder if the iPhone has an app for it?

    Oil & Grease

I also found this but not sure if it's suitable as all-round usage, plastic on metal,, etc, etc.

    Oil & Grease

Thanks both! Just ordered and surprised of how little grease is supplied in these Tamiya kits?

    Oil & Grease

What oils or grease do you kind folks recommend using on gears/ball/differentials?

    Tools!

Any ideas where I can locate a toe/camber gauge?
  20. Noticed everything is out of stock with regards to this area, only parts I can find is the Yeah Racing. I've had a browse on Plaza Japan and guess what... out of stock! It's either the YR or the supplied CVA dampers however, any other hop-ups I should consider?
  21. Funny you mention this as I asked for advice from Model Sport and they claim both are compatible? I can't seem to find a set of TRFs for the TT-02R otherwise I'd get those to fit the stock towers... any ideas?
  22. Thanks for confirming. Kit should be delivered tomorrow then I'll order the Carbon Damper Stay II kits and the Adjustable Upper Arm Set however, not sure whether to replace the CVA oil dampers with the Yeah Racing Shock-Gear 55mm Damper Set?
  23. I was unable to find the SR unfortunately, only the S or SRX. I was thinking of adding the Tamiya 54947 Carbon Damper Stay II kit but would I need 2 sets, 1 for the front and 1 for the rear?
  24. I looked into all the TT-02 kits available and did some comparisons before making a purchase. The Type-S kit does have better suspension but doesn't come with the hop-ups the TT-02R kit has. For just a few quid you can improve the TT-02R suspension making this perhaps a better value alternative when compared to the Type-S?
  25. A thread revival but I have been reading this thread with interest and I'm impressed with how good those SuperStock motors perform. I have a few brand new SuperStock BZ, TZ, RZ and GT Tuned motors just sitting in boxes however, after following this thread I've just sourced and purchased a new Tamyia 47326 TT-02R Chassis Kit. Time to hunt down the Tamiya TT-02 Adjustable Upper Arm Set to make that suspension adjustable... I feel a Skyline 2000GT vibe coming with perhaps some drift tyres? 🤘
