  1. Just tried a Tamiya TEU-105BK ESC with an Acoms AR-201 receiver and Hitec HP-2RND receiver and it works fine on either channel 1 or channel 2. Both take their power exclusively from the ESC without anything connected to their battery inputs.
  2. Thanks. That’s good to know. So can modern receivers accept power from any of the channel inputs?
  3. I’ve just ordered a Tamiya ESC to use with an old Acoms AR-201 BEC receiver and notice that the ESC provides power to the receiver through the receivers servo input on channel 2 instead of the receivers battery input. Will all BEC receivers (including the Acoms AR-201) accept power through channel 2 or do I need to replace the receiver?
  4. Vintage Tamiya Blitzer Beetle for sale on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115314190837?hash=item1ad942e9f5:g:S0YAAOSwA7ZiQHUT
  5. I was recently lucky enough to find an old unused Acoms AP-227 transmitter and was curious to know exactly when it was made. The only label I could find on the transmitter itself was in the battery compartment that had 55.5.17 printed on it. After doing a little Googling I found that some electronics companies use a dating system that denotes the year first followed by the month and day. However, Japanese companies used a slightly different system where the first number indicated the number of years since the Japanese emperor at the time became ruler. The Japanese Emperor during the 1970’s and 80’s was Hirohito Showa who became ruler in 1926 suggesting that the date code 55.5.17 gives the transmitter a manufacturing date of the 17th of May 1981. Hope this is useful to those of you with older Japanese equipment.
  6. Thanks for the feedback. I think I’ll stick with the modern servos.
  7. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of using the old Acoms ASA-227 servos made in the 1980’s for steering? Are these servos very reliable? Thanks
  8. What do you think of the Futaba T2HR transmitter? Do you find it better than a steering wheel and trigger transmitter?
  9. Just bought a Tamiya The Hornet car and was wondering if anyone would recommend the Corally Varioprop S2R Transmitter & Receiver to use with it? Is the Corally transmitter and receiver reliable and could the receiver be used with a Futaba S-U300 servo or an old S148 servo or Acoms AS-12 servo? Thanks
  10. Thanks. Sounds like the Tamiya TTU-03 might be OK with the Acoms and Hitec receivers.
  11. Hi. I’m new to the forum and just getting back into the hobby after more than 20 years. I’ve just been looking through some old cars I have that I have and was wondering if I could replace an Acoms Techniplus 27mhz AM transmitter and Hitec Ranger 27mhz AM transmitter with a Tamiya TTU-03 AM transmitter? Did all manufacturers use the same AM system or do the transmitters and receivers need to match? Thanks
