  1. Really appreciate your input. Seems to be a wealth of knowledge on here, it’s like reading a different language at times to me. I have already sent a message to the eBay seller so let’s wait and see.
  2. Thanks. what made me think they had different sized shocks was these comments on an item on BG. The ones I bought were from china via ebay, so probably more hassle to send back I’d imagine. Def advertised as 16889
  3. Thanks, might look into giving this a go. If not I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy some new, keeping these as spares for when (if?) my 16889 pro arrives.
  4. After further reading, I think I may have ordered the wrong shocks. These are for the 16889 but think our truggies should have the 16890 ones which are apparently just a little shorter? Just assumed all the internals were the same, maybe it’s just nearly all. Best place to get the right ones? Struggling to find them. Or anyway of modding these to suit?
  5. I’ve recently changed the driveshafts and shocks on my kids’ ftx tracers with the metal bits and oil filled shocks, and they’re sitting much higher. The shocks themselves are a bit bigger, but I thought nothing of it. The rear is much higher. Fronts are the same but less extreme height difference. am I missing something? Or is this what is expected? I’ll admit to being fairly clueless with most this stuff, learning as I go along. my car on left (unmolested) and the bairn’s in the right. Obviously 😂
  6. Thanks for the response guys. I’ve already solved it with a fresh pair of eyes this morning, but you were correct - bearing related. Mostly in that I’ve been blind and stupid and not realised that the outside bearing wasn’t in place, must have dropped out when I was putting it back together. All sorted, can’t believe I didn’t notice this last night. started tackling the rears, and yes they do require drilling to prevent binding. Fronts need no modification. One car done, but need a fresh drill bit to finish the other. never thought to post in the mini section, apologies if I’ve put this in obviously the wrong place. cheers again. Battery/charging related question coming up next 😂
  7. Should maybe have mentioned one is an ftx tracer, other a blackzon slyder but it’s the same chassis/parts.
  8. IMG_0179.MOV Hi all finally received some upgrade parts for the kid’s cars. Only done the front driveshafts so far as I u sweat and I may need to mod the rears a little to prevent binding. one car done fine, all good, shocks replaced too for oil filled. the second car, one side is fine, but the other front seems to have a lot of play on it. Wondered if it was a discrepancy with the part itself so switched it with the other sides, but the problem remains on one side. Any thoughts as to what I’ve done wrong? video hopefully explains what I mean.
  9. Well this is it, isn’t it? Find these batteries in lots of other things in the house which hasn’t previously posed any real worry. Just with having read and watched various videos of then going up, and think about the consequences of that in the house. may revert to storing in the fire place in ammo tin, and then charging outside.
  10. Hi all still relatively new to all this so trying to figure things out and I have a couple questions. First, am I right in thinking that LiIon batts are less volatile than LiPo? Our FTX tracers use a 2s 1500mah pack. I've read so much stuff about LiPos going boom and it's got me freaked. I'm currently treating my LiIons the same way but not sure if Im being over cautious? I charge them outside, in a lipo bag within an ammo box. I then pop this into an enclosure of breeze blocks for the walls and floor tile for the top. I dont have a garage, so this is just out on the decking. It stands on a floor tile too. Is this reasonable or excessive? Im storing them the same way. What temperature will this storage become a concern? I've popped a max/min temp in the ammo can tonight to see what it drops down to in there, but it was sugesting 5 deg C earlier on when I checked and it's only 7.30 so probably will drop more? Im in the UK. I was storing them inside the open fire place in the ammo tin prior to this but was finding it hard to sleep with everything Ive read haha Think i've bamboozled myself. Not as much info on the LiIon packs as LiPo so thought I'd err on side of caution and treat them the same. Oh, one more silly question no doubt. Should I be keeping the batteries in separate LiPo bags or is it ok to pop a few into the one? This is what I've been doing but trying to keep the connections away from each other. Thanks all
  11. great, fingers crossed then. Still says processing but they’ve been in touch to cancel the other part of my order for some spare bits.
  12. Good call, I’ll give this a try. On another note, having not ordered from BG before - do they not ship to the uk anymore? Read some stuff suggesting they don’t, but it allow me to select uk when ordering so… 🤔
  13. Hi On my son’s ftx tracer, the small piece of plastic on the chassis where the battery strap feeds through to double back on itself (closest to servo) has snapped. Think I’ve over tightened the Velcro if I’m honest after the first time we had it out and the battery worked it’s way loose. Had put a larger battery in and not realised I could remove the foam pad at this point! without changing the chassis (which looks like a lot of effort to my layperson mind) is there any other way I could secure the battery well? it’s not letting me upload an image so i hope I’ve explained it clearly. thanks
  14. Hi everyone. brand new to all this RC stuff, but got the kids a tracer and the blackzon slyder for Xmas, after much reading (mostly from here I think!). Also got a second tracer for me because who wouldn’t want to join in and just watch their kids having fun? 😂 a week later and I’ve just ordered the hbx 16889 b/l pro from BG. plan on tryin to sell the tracer to a mate hopefully. anyway, I’ll stick another post up in correct forum regarding an issue I’ve ran into. I’ve a feeling I’ll be checking back in these forums regularly!
