  1. That's nice, I thought to myself when you spent the 2 grand on a hardtail that I would rather have gone full sus.

Was sitting up in bed the other night with the wife looking on the laptop at bikes, She glanced across and said,

'You can by a BLEEP car for that',  I said,

' I bought you a brand new car 3 years ago for 15 grand, I's got 10,000 miles on the clock and sat on the drive, I would have done more than that on this bike'.

    She had no come back.

  2. Just finished going through your post over at MTBR, Don't like the look of the Talon, Gravitating to the Vitus VRS myself, Couple quid more than the Talon, But looks better speced.

  3. What I always say is, Don't try and sell something for what you or anyone else thinks it's worth, Cos everyone else will be selling there's for the same, Sell it for what you would be happy to get, Cos most of the time that will be less than what you or others will think it's worth, But you get shot of it quicker and still come out with a smile.

  4. As others have said, Tune by sound and not smoke, I use THIS that is mixed on site at a shop near me, First thing he said was that you can't tune by smoke as it doesn't produce any, And he was right, Brilliant stuff, And they do a whole Range.

They even make there own Engines  and Pipes.

Still remember when I went in once and the owner asked what car I had, Said it was a Thunder Tiger S3 with the Tunnel chassis(Best chassis ever), Just so happened he had the same car and bought it out to show me, Difference was he's engine leaned to the centre like the old old Hyper 9, And the chassis was exactly the same as the one below and like mine, Difference was he's was totally made out of Carbon Fibre, Where in gods name he got a 3D chassis like made from Carbon Fibre God only knows, I never asked, But I will when I go back, Must have cost a fortune.

  5. The last one I got was a £45 eBay jobby, It looked and felt genuine,  Even down to packing and extras, And the sc8 quirk of the LVC not being the best, If it was a fake, Then it's hats off to them for a job well done.

Before that I picked up  a 150amp QuickRun for 50 quid, At the time I wondered if it was a knockoff, But again it looked and felt the part, And is still going strong.

I do wonder how many of these so called fakes are really knocking about, Can't be a great profit margin in a product retailing for 45 quid to bother knocking it off, And is a knockoff SC8 any more a risk than a cheapo ESC.

I do get that it's discontinued, But how many thousands of theses are knocking about from RTR's and the like, The other thing is looking on HobbyWings site, They don't actually have a true replacement for it, The closest is the Max10 SCT which on ModelSport is £67.50 , But the QuicRun 150 is £88.

But I will say that I will not buy anything other than HobbyWing even if I have to pay UK retail, Never had, Or seen a Hobbywing smoke, Ever.

  6. I don't think there is much point in buying ReRe's to sell on at a later date, Or any RC car to be honest, You might see some brand new in box stuff go for like a £1000 or something, But this will normally be an original that has sat in a loft unopened for 20 years,  And even at a grand, Which I think is still pretty rare, It's not a great return on a 20 year investment.

It's even harder now with Tamiya and the like scalping there own ReRe's, The Egress was well out of my range back in the day, Here we are 30 odd years later, And they still want stupid money for one, It's not out of my range, I'm just not paying that, I just couldn't be bothered to have a box kicking around the house for years on the off chance I may make 100 quid on it.

Also, In 20 years time, The people that find HotShots and Sand Scorchers nostalgic, Are gonna be to old to care, Or just dead.

Just to add, I thought Tamiya would of asked more for the Super Champ.

  7. If your not worried about 6s, Thought about the WP-SC8, I don't run 6s, Have had a few SC8 over the years, And like the it's big brothers, It's never put a foot wrong and can be picked up for less than 50 quid, Why pay an extra 40-50 quid for an option you may never use.

@babylon Sports and construction industry its used alot lol

Things have changed then in the last 6 or 7 years, Worked on site for about 15 years and never really come across people using it.

I always say it's not the word you say, It's the context and the way in which you say it, You can call someone the B word, And you can call someone the B word, But the C word has a tendency to come across in only one way.

  9. Got about half way through that and chucked in the towel, It's not something I would even rate as entertainment anymore, Bored me senseless.

I would like someone to tell me at which point in time has the 'C word' ever been normal in this country, I know that Americans started to throw it about left right and centre in films, But I don't believe it has ever been normal here, It's still that one swear word you shouldn't use, Ever.

This could be part off his problem, Not understanding a culture,  If you call someone in the UK, Anyone, Even if your not to keen on them yourself, The C word, You've stepped over the line and lost any respect from this side of the pond.

Thing is, We can only judge these people on what we see and what they show us, Or, What they let slip, Could never stand RCSparks, His Load voice just went right through me, And just found his video's boring and pretty dull.

KT I can take or leave, He might be a nice bloke in person, And he doesn't come across as a bad bloke, Just wish he would stop trying to tell me, Or us, How to buy something cheap and sell it for more on eBay, I'm just not sure why he believes he has found the Holy Grail of buying and selling on eBay,  Which is my main problem with him, Is he trying to entertain me with a RC channel, Or is he trying to flog me he's get rich quick scheme, Because of that confusion, I may unconsciously, Or consciously , just dodge most of he's videos.

I got my first RC when I was at school, it was a tamiya corolla I think, I used to charge up like 10 stick packs to take with me because they lasted about 5 mins each.

I am over 50 now and had hundreds over the years, have around 30 now and my best ones would be the ones that I have the best memories with.

    1 Mardave Marauder

    2 Traxxas 4x4 vxl

    3  Hotbodies Lightning 2

    4 FG Marder

    5 Thunder Tiger MTA 4

This does show just how what works for some, Doesn't always work for everyone, I had 3 cars on your list, The MTA4, Which I thought was good, But become a bit sloppy, I had a Lighting pro truggy, The one with the alloy arms, I couldn't get pass the weird feeling that it was strong, But also felt fragile at the same time , But that may well be to different from Lighting 2 Buggy to be the same now I think of it, Then we have the FG Marder, If we had a top 5 worst cars you have had this would not just be at number 1, It would be at 2,3,4 and 5 all to itself.

But for me in no order it would be

    Mugen Super Sport

    Hong Nor CRT

    Losi Muggy

    Tamiya Hornet

    Kyosho Laser

  11. I do get why model shops push electric, Nitro can be finicky, And the last thing a shop wants is little Johnny to keep coming back with a nitro they can't tune and moaning that it don't run for more than 5 minutes before it cuts out, Or the one way bearing keeps slipping, Or it's eating plugs, Cos none of that will be little Johnny's fault.

But I have found over the years that half the problem with nitro is the RTR engines, And price is no indication of quality, The Traxxas 3.3 engine is silly money to buy, But was known to be a pig and rubbish both at the same time, First engine I ever bought some 30 years ago was a Picco, That thing run day in and day out and never lost it's tune, Even to the point I could spin the engine over with my thumb and forefinger it was so worn, But it would still run.

Get a good engine, Or just do research on engines (Losi 427 Teal head is a stonking engine) and you won't have 2 many problems, If any, And go bump start,

@babylonDid we feel we fought a battle with each other?

Maybe we all  use this weekend to go for our legally entitled exercise. --> walk.

And maybe a RC car decides to follow us.  🤣

Too much lockdown blues. At least for me.

    All week like this:

    Left screen: Work (6am - 8pm).

And when I wait for something.

    |

    v

Right screen: MSUK (clearly safer for my wallet than ebay, etc).

    That's not a life!

No mate, That's what I didn't understand about the comment, I just remembered that Free Ports popped up every so often during the whole Brexit process, I'll just assume that OHO didn't read the post and assumed I was just being argumentative.

I go for a legally entitled bike ride, I was off 4 weeks at the start, Did nothing at all, Watched what I ate and only put on 4lbs, 1lb a week, Thought that's ok, I can live with that, I'll lose that once I get back to work, Then they tell me it will be another 8-12 weeks, 8-12 weeks at 1lb a week, That's like who ate all the pies department, So pulled the bike out the shed, And have done 9-11 miles everyday since April, Come rain or shine, Lost a stone, And looking quite buff.

What they don't tell you is, You know how nothing fits anymore when you get, For a better word, FAT, Nothing also fits anymore when you lose weight, In fact, you look worse, Clothes just hang off you like an old tent.

@Jens - you are fighting a lost battle trying to argue.

You could say the sky is blue or water is wet and he'd disagree with you.

Noticed you commented on .AJ. update about M3 now supplying to the UK again, My, I never saw that sort of thing coming, Why would companies want to market to a country of 68 million people.

Just try and get tour facts right before you start with the sarcasm next time, What ever you think of me, I have never belittled anyone here, Ever.

And don't look to Jens for support, I commented looking for information on Free Ports, Which he explained very well, Was as clear as water to me, But it was still good.
