Are in line fuel filters more trouble than they are worth or is it just me, I have just run in a new STS 28 and started to have the same problem with this one as I did with a previous one, and a TTR 28 from my MTA4 before that,You see I would get everything set up just right and ticking over nice until slowing down or coming to a stop from WOT were it would have an erratic high rev witch didn't sound very nice and would heat up the engine quite rapidly.
Well today I had the same issue witch was really starting to give me the hump, Now I have duel inline filters like a lot of people and noticed just how many air bubbles there were in the fuel line, So I bypassed both filters and went straight from tank to carb, And what do you know, all sorted, I can now thrash the nuts of this thing, WOT for as long as I like, Then come to a hard stop with a rock steady tickover.
I lot of people are gonna say you can't run without a filter cos your do such and such, But I'v looked in my filters and never seen any dirt or crap in it, And all tanks that I have had seem to come with the stone filter inside, And is anything that small really gonna do damage to an engine, I don't think it will, And if it is big enough to damage an engine, chances are it will get stuck in the carb, So I'v ditched both filters and will run with the what I think is a slim chance of a green fly or something eating my engine, Cant be any worse than the leaning out of the engine due to air bubbles, But I cant see that I am the only one who runs(any more) with no inline filters.
