  1. I'm not keen on the supplied shell, so that's definitely on the hitlist. I'm more of a vintage truck fan. 🙂 I'm glad you opted for the FS Racing. I pulled the trigger on it a few hours ago, and was expecting the praise for the Carisma to flood in. 😛
  2. I'm not too bothered by portals at this stage of the game. Maybe later, when I can hide a new model from the wife by fitting it with an old shell. 😇 I'm finding myself more and more tempted by the SCX10ish.. the aftermarket support and userbase are a definite bonus. Plus, as I've found more videos of v2.1 SCA-1Es (more people seem to have the Range Rover version), I've noticed the anti-torque twist doesn't quite work, and the steering is a bit pants. 🤔
  3. Hiya! I've only just started getting into RC, but I want to jump in with both feet, as I do with every hobby, so I want to buy a 1/10 crawler! 😀 I've got a pretty strict budget of £250, and I've narrowed things down to the Carisma Coyote 2.1 Kit and the FS Racing SCX10.2ish RTR. The electronic upgrades are within the budget calculation, with the SCX10ish losing a motor upgrade due to needing beadlocks. I think it comes down to which chassis is best.. from what I've seen, the SCX10.2 RTR seems to have lots of good reviews, but they were all back in 2018. Similar for the Coyote, where all the (more mixed) reviews are from 2018 and are for the v1, not the upgraded 2.1. Is the SCX10.2 still a decent base, compared to the SCA-1E 2.1? Is there a non-FTX/RGT crawler that I haven't considered (and can buy in the UK)? Fanx!
  4. Righto! Courier Pathfinder, as it was originally (it's dismantled and awaiting powder coating): Scott Evolution Pro, waiting for a bottom bracket before I can build it up Lynx Parrilla, which is built, but I don't seem to have taken any photos of it since I bought it as a frame 5 years ago. 😮 It seems like I need to take some new photos!
  5. too many vintage mtbs. 🙂 got... 88 Muddy Fox Courier (Tushingham variant) 90 Muddy Fox Pathfinder (skip save) 91 Scott Evolution Pro (estay!) 92 Lynx Parilla (rebranded Chas Roberts) All of them are in various states of disassembly. 😛

I've used them, but not with that tx, and not in rc cars. I've used them in combat robots, using 3 of the channels on AFHDS 2A It's taken some big hits, and has never failed, so I guess it might be okay for rc.
  7. A customary hello to everyone here! 👋 I'm new to the hobby, although I have experience with quadcopters and (more relevantly) combat robots. I've been building those for nearly 5 years, but only small scale 150g antweights. So, I kinda know the electronic side of things, but not the mechanicals. I have my 10 year old son to blame for getting into rc cars. He somehow got into watching youtube videos of them, and has asked for a WPL D12 for his birthday. I had to do some research before buying, obviously, and I maaaaaay have gotten bitten by the bug myself. 😛 And so, I've bought him a D12, and I bought us both WLtoys 44001s for blasting around the park, and now I've bought us both Outback 2 Minis for using at home. On top of that, I quite fancy a 1/10 crawler, but can't justify paying more than about £200. I've been researching a lot, largely looking at advice from this forum, and have finally fixed my sights on a Carisma Coyote Kit. That can be a birthday present to myself. 😇 It's not my son's birthday until mid-September, but I'm breaking out the Outbacks tomorrow as an end-of-term present. I'm hoping it'll keep him a bit occupied over the summer holidays, rather than sitting in front of the TV the whole time.
