A customary hello to everyone here! 👋
I'm new to the hobby, although I have experience with quadcopters and (more relevantly) combat robots. I've been building those for nearly 5 years, but only small scale 150g antweights. So, I kinda know the electronic side of things, but not the mechanicals.
I have my 10 year old son to blame for getting into rc cars. He somehow got into watching youtube videos of them, and has asked for a WPL D12 for his birthday. I had to do some research before buying, obviously, and I maaaaaay have gotten bitten by the bug myself. 😛
And so, I've bought him a D12, and I bought us both WLtoys 44001s for blasting around the park, and now I've bought us both Outback 2 Minis for using at home.
On top of that, I quite fancy a 1/10 crawler, but can't justify paying more than about £200. I've been researching a lot, largely looking at advice from this forum, and have finally fixed my sights on a Carisma Coyote Kit. That can be a birthday present to myself. 😇
It's not my son's birthday until mid-September, but I'm breaking out the Outbacks tomorrow as an end-of-term present. I'm hoping it'll keep him a bit occupied over the summer holidays, rather than sitting in front of the TV the whole time.
