  1. Brilliant mate thank you, ill stick with the 3300 then for now and go for a 12T when i get the steel spur later on
  2. I think i'll get the carnage together for a bit of a play around and get used to driving them again, then when funds allow buy a 4-6s setup and keep an eye out in the meantime for a 1/8 roller or something with semi decent/decent parts like the Hyper 7 What can i expect from the hobbywing combo you linked? Should i possibly consider a 4000kv and smaller pinion or something aswell? I'm not entirely sure how the KV and pinion setups work to be honest. Just looking around on youtube and that seems to be a common setup. I'd like it to be pretty quick off road, i've just found out there's an old overgrown dirt bmx track not too far from me with some nice jumps so will probs be taking it down there and clear the place up, there's no 6ft high jumps or anything just some nice smooth low ones, not intent on destroying it before it's even arrived haha 😄
  3. Again thank you so much for taking the time to help me out, i'll be getting everything ordered in the morning, i'm liking the fact you get around 45 mins run time, with a second battery you could pretty much go all day with a bit of time for stuff to cool down between charges, sounds great. The bit at the end of your vid is the sort of places i'll be taking it, looks great fun, probably even a bit too fast for that sort of terrain haha! 😄 I'll probably go 3s later down the line but think i'd probably be looking at a 1/8 scale by then anyway, but looking at a few vids with that hobbywing setup it looks like it will be plenty fast enough for what i'll be doing with it, at least parts are pretty cheap when yo do blow stuff up lol
  4. I'm not massively worried about weight tbh, i'm not going to be racing it or anything and will probably upgrade most stuff to ally/carbon in the future and just use it as a field blaster once i get settled into the hobby again and can afford something from the mid/lower top part of the market. It's just a bit of fun getting back into RC again but wanted something cheap and reliable that would be easy to get parts for
  5. You're a legend mate thank you so so much, I think i'm going to do this and then just get the parts that will need upgrading later on, I can see if they'll price match as it's £109 on a fair few other websites 😛 Does the charger you mentioned have a balance option on it? Just so i can store them properly over winter if that's necessary? Also do you know what sort of speeds this setup will achieve and how long run time do you get with these batteries? Thanks again
  6. I've got £200 cash or £250 when i get paid next Thursday and £50 on my amazon account Thanks a lot for helping me out i'm extremely grateful, I've not had an RC for about 20 years and it's all pretty much new to me again now, but even back then it was mainly Tamiya carpet thrashers and a few Kyosho Nitro's that spent more time broken than running
  7. It's not annoying at all mate you're honestly a massive help, The £50 is on the "Your Account > Gift card balance" on the drop down tab, I've already cashed it in it's just sat there waiting to be spent, The only thing i could find about it was "Gift Cards and Gift Vouchers (including products branded as Gift Certificates) ("Gift Cards") may only be redeemed toward the purchase of eligible products on www.amazon.co.uk" and doesn't say anything about your "wallet"(i guess?) balance
  8. @Jens I don't think i can as it's a gift card balance, as far as i can find i can only use it on amazon which sucks a bit @Strugglecuddle7 I was looking at the Absima aswell but looking at a few vids on youtube and some reviews it put me off as they said the plastics were really brittle and not very well made, not gonna lie though i love the look of the ASB1BL dune buggy thing. Considering there really isn't that much choice at this price range it's a bloody hard decision haha 😄 I was looking at possibly pushing the boat out for a Hobao Hyper VS ornament aswell and build it up over a long period but the upgrade ally stuff is quite expensive compared to other models and would rather have something to blast around with now the weather's starting to pick up again. If i wait until next Thursday i can spare another £50 taking me up to £250 + my voucher 🙄
  9. Sounds interesting, I was going to get the brushless as it comes with a lipo i think, do you know what the hobbywing setups like with the standard nimh? It'll probably be another month or so before i can start buying a decent charger and more batteries Need to get it off Amazon ideally as i've got a £200 spending budget for running and driving plus a £50 amazon voucher (so £250 if i can get it off there) https://www.amazon.co.uk/FTX-Carnage-Brushless-Truck-2-4GHz/dp/B009FB3ENU/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=ftx+carnage+brushed&qid=1617126206&s=kids&sr=1-4
  10. I'll be getting the brushless version off amazon and will upgrade the electronics a bit later on when i've collected a few batteries and stuff, i won't be going mad with it, 45-50mph will probably be more than enough i think. I read in the owners thread on here about the spur gear, is that what you mean instead of the pinion? I'll get the acetyl one first i think coz im on a bit of a budget then upgrade to steel later when i put more power in it, i've got some 3 or 4mm carbon sheets left over from some stuff i done on my actual car so i might try and make my own shock towers out of that, if it goes belly up i'll buy some lol 😄
  11. I think i will get the carnage, do you know if it's the same chassis as the vantage as i'll be looking at upgrading it to ally and seen one on hobbyking but says its for a quantum vandal and looks exactly the same, i'll probably order this and a vantage pinion at the same time i order the car, thanks for the advice I did start reading through the vantage/carnage thread on here and got to page 8 so far, only 260ish to go....
  12. I'm not sure what to get at the minute lol, I think i've narrowed it down to either the vantage or carnage, i really like how the carnage looks but looking at videos on the tube the vantage looks like it's twice as fast out the box than the carnage and i won't be upgrading it for a while 😕 I think the carnage would be more suited to grass/dirt blasting aswell Either that or a Maverick Strada MT/XT 😄 FTX versions look better thought out/built though
  13. Just to hi-jack your post a bit, I've not had an RC car for about 20 years or so now and I'm kind of in the same position at the minute but after a 1/8, I had my heart set on the Arrma Typhon 3s but the £320 price tag is a bit too high for me. I've got a £50 Amazon voucher I was going to use to buy one which would have bought it down to a more acceptable price but just my bloody luck it must be the only Arrma model not on there! Are there any other suggestions for a 1/8 for £2-250ish, I've seen a few off brand ones but looking at a few youtube videos they don't look that great. I have been looking at the smaller scale ones aswell like 1/10 but would prefer a 1/8 just coz I like the bigger cars. I was looking at the China specials aswell like WLToys 124019 but waiting 3-4 weeks for parts would get old fast and tbh they don't actually look that great. I know I should probably not expect great quality at this price range but would be nice to get something that doesn't turn to dust when you take it out of the box. If i can't find a decent enough 1/8 I might just get the FTX Vantage like Gtiracer as I could get the brushless one off Amazon for £150, worth it? I won't be belting it off skate park ramps or anything just maybe some small dirt bmx park jumps and mainly used on grass/gravel. Been trawling on here, Ebay and Gumtree etc aswell for a couple of months to see if there's anything pre-owned local but never anything about and would prefer new as had really bad experiences buying 2 pre-owned nitro's in my late teens which is when I last had an RC car! Thanks
