Especially with their new brushless 1;10 RTR that just came out. That looks so good for the money (well the US price)

Does feel like we are missing out on some good models in the UK.

Got out with the TRX4 and Slash and it was blumin fantastic! Feels like an age since I got our properly for some RC and the weather was amazing for it.

Didnt see the price the first time but that is very optimistic.
Not sure why they wanted camber adjustment as well for an alleged stunt truck as those top links look like they would snap if you looked at them funny.

Not keen on that as a RTR but I think the Venture kit is meant to be really good and has a lot of upgrades out of the box. I think @PraetoR might have one as a trail truck?

Few bits and pieces with the main thing being a new ESC for the Slash. Nothing wrong with the current one but being stock, it isn't that keen on 3s so thought I would treat it to an upgrade.
Wrong motor adaptors were sent out but as usual, Modelsport corrected their mistake and the new ones should be with me soon. They are always so good at dealing with the customer service side!

They do look a lot of fun and like others say look to be more capable than a normal 1/10 rally chassis which dont have much ground clearance. Saying that, I also love the 4s Mojave and they are basically the same price. Feels like better VFM going down the Mojave route.

Looks great! Is that your own design?

As above, above 🤣 I did start to check before Xmas but forgot to do them all so this was a good reminder. There were a couple that had dipped nearer to 3.7 per cell but most were good.

And now there is a VXL 3s version which no doubt the UK will also not get 😤

A photo of the transmitter is probably also good to see how much of this fireteam is stock.

Tools!

M4 nuts as found on most 12mm hex's are 7mm socket. The smaller scale stuff tend to come with M3 nuts which are 5.5mm socket. Some brands such as the Quantum use a M5 which is 8mm socket.

Another vote for Wera! I also have some Arrowmax which are pretty nice as well and seem to have quality tips.
I did have a couple of HPI hex drivers but they were absolute junk and both rounded with very little use

Thanks both!

Got a bit of a weird question around pinions and specifically if all Mod 1 pinions are the same.
Logic tells me of course they are but I have been building a roller Kagama and the stock 13t I thought might be a bit tall and know these can run a bit warm so grabbed a Yeah Racing 11t mod 1.
When it arrived i could see that the teeth were less sharp looking than the stock one and I struggled to get what felt like a good mesh.
Out of interest, I then got a Corally 11t and that had the same sharper looking teeth and I managed to get a mesh that felt so much better (not run this yet so all by feel).
So, was this a case of me over-thinking the tooth shape or can there be slight differences?

Tried fitting the FTX aluminium braces on the DR8. A simple job but the screws used for the plastic braces are too long and need to order up some shorter ones.
Bit disappointing FTX didn't include shorter ones with the braces

I use 2 x CNHL 3s soft packs in mine.

I have a roller in my possession! Kind of shocked how large it is as my only other 1/8 is a FTX DR8 and it makes that look more like 1/10..
Quality seems really nice although it looks like the centre diff is leaking as there is oil around it. Won't get to look at this properly until the weekend and in theory it was supposed to stay boxed up for Xmas!

What did you do to your model today?

Finally ran the Kagama which I think I got in November!
Was a bit of a shake down to make sure all was well so only ran a single battery pack, but no issues and ran really well.
