  1. Changed the diff fluids on my XT today. Front was nice and easy, back was a bit more of a pain. Massive difference already and I've not even ran it yet, but I can tell. Was going to swap in my metal spur and pinion, but decided against it as the plastic one is doing fine for now. Shocks finally settled down and got them in the sweet spot after trail and error. Also put the + springs back on. We have REBOUND now after compression! Although, the aluminium steering turnbuckles pull the wheels in (make each wheel want to go away from chassis), so I'm guessing I need to give them a bit more length so they don't do that. Changed the ESC setting from 3V to 3.2V Changed the Punch setting up another notch
  2. Doesn't it just @Stormbringer! Really like that @QRC. So, I changed out the diff oils on my Quantum Flux XT. Can tell there's a difference already. Much smoother. Decided to leave the plastic spurs and pinions in place until I need to swap them to the metal ones I bought. We for more teeth on the spur (64 compared to 48 OEM) and a 19T pinion (13 OEM I think?) Loose a bit of top speed, but it should be a bit more torquey. Got shocks sorted finally and there's actually some rebound now! Just need to adjust the turnbuckles on the front slightly as they pull the front wheels in when the suspension compresses. Adjusted the ESC voltage cutout from factory set 3V to 3.2V and also changed the punch up a Level 😄 Didn't get many photos sadly. Oh! And this is a weird one. Any ideas on how to fix it? Screw won’t go back in all the way? I’m guessing it’s stripped further back, but not entirely sure. Tried cleaning it out, adding a bit of paper towel to get it in, but nothing. Stuck about there where the drivers pointed.
  3. Do you know what, I thought that at the time as well, but it was late so clearly wasn’t thinking properly haha. Just looked around at it again, it’s for the Phantom I think 😂😳 my bad! Sorry!
  4. FYI, apparently these fit for the front suspension arms. Not a fan of the blue personally, but hey ho… https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284164924402?hash=item42298ca3f2:g:8hgAAOSwC3VgE3Di EDIT: ignore this. Late night post not paying attention. They don’t fit haha
  5. Swapped out the steering turnbuckles for these aluminum ones I got. I’m not overly happy with them I have to say. Fitment just seems…off…and I can feel the pressure in the knuckles when I move them manually. I can’t begin to imagine the force on them when on a bash. I was warned, but against better judgement I went for them anyway. Debating on taking them off and fitting the HD ones I’ve got with the plastic ends instead. Unfortunately need to wait until the rear ones come back in before I can change them from the aluminum ones. Again, not overly happy with them. Had to fit an extra small nut in behind to pull them away from the shocks as well. Also redid the shocks again as I’m not happy with them. Opened one and loads of air bubbles in it, so it was the right thing to do. Also put new suspension arms on again, just the Maverick “upgraded” ones until my Metsafli come in. Will probably run them until they snap 😅 also fit some aluminum body posts. Tight fit, but hopefully won’t snap…or snap the body post mounts… job for tomorrow I believe will be stripping down the diffs and refilling them with fresh oil. Also want to investigate the rear knuckle seems to have some play in it where the pillow ball mount is at. Think it’s the actual knuckle that’s going as everything else is tight. Maybe it took a knock? Investigation needed into that one. Debating on switching the spur and pinion gears to the metal ones I got as well, but am a bit hesitant on doing that as it seems to be fine at the moment. Mind that didn’t stop me from messing about with the steering turnbuckles…or changing shock oil…or wanting to put diff oil in… Making decent progress for my first car though and learning a canny bit about them.
  6. Well did some light reading of the forum from way back on page like 6 or 7. Found these little gems. So, I've put 500 cSt into my shocks last night. Seems alright. Does seem a bit spongy with just the original springs on like I said, but the + spring do seem a bit firmer. Torn on what to do with it now, but I've taken the original springs back off 😅 answers on a postcard anyone? Yep, the rear turnbuckle was bent like a mofo. Nearly 45 degree angle. Put it down somewhere can't remember where. I got the same aluminium turnbuckles. They seem alright, but as per @Hell horn.'s comment, they do seem a bit more loose compared to the stock ones. I also had to do a similar mod by adding a small aluminum nut to space them back out past the shock. I may do similar on the shock to move it a bit more as well to get it off the upper arms.
  7. Changed the shock oil to 500 cSt. Threw on the + springs and there’s a massive difference straight away in how firm they are. Took them back off and put them back and will test the new shock oil with original springs first. Side note, the XT wing makes a decent shock repair stand 😅
  8. Haha no it does, thank you. I had a feeling. Very similar to real cars then. Firmer, rougher ride, softer more comfy ride. Like you say, probably a bit of a balancing act. I’ll try the 500 cSt and the original springs and see what that’s like and then change over if need be 😊 thank you 😊👍🏻
  9. Nice one. Thank you. Having difficulty deciding what’s best to do now. Got them all pretty dang close to each other. Also have a slightly firmer spring. I changed oil as the original was very thick, original spring now feels quite springy compared to the new oil with new firmer spring. Want it to float over bumps better but also want a nice feeling on smallish jumps. Thoughts?
  10. Refilling shocks with oil, what's the rebound supposed to be like WITHOUT the springs on? I can't seem to get them even. Some slower than others, some further than others...help? P.s Quantum XT wing makes a nice shock rebuild station 😄 photo of shocks about 30 secs after compression. The ones rebounding further have LESS oil in them as well…
  11. Nothing fancy…reckon it’ll be ok. Bit of loctite on them and wah-la.
  12. Nothing too fancy. Some aluminium turnbuckles, metal pinion 19T 0.6mod, and 64T 0.6mod spur gears for both Quantum trucks. Not sure about the aluminium turnbuckles, or the spur gears to be honest...no genuine parts, but stronger 🦾
  13. Ah very nice. Yeah, I contemplated changing it slightly. That looks decent. Only thing from my knowledge is X shaped is generally stronger. Make sure to share the STL if you can. Hopefully I'll be getting myself a Ender soon and will be able to tinker a bit more. Am slammed with work at the moment so haven't had a chance to do much to mine 😄
  14. They looked mint on the car to be fair, especially in the red 😄 Didn't think it would like. I'll have to see if I can change the file slightly. I've got SolidWorks and Creo for work, but not sure if my work PC will let me open an external file for safety reasons. Would be easy to change to 1 mm thicker, and I think the infill would help massively. I'm sure my friend said he did 70% on the entire thing. Weak spot on the ones I printed was the mounting points for sure as that's where they snapped. Think if you can print in ABS or nylon it would be fine though.
  15. Against better judgement, I just bought a set of aluminium tie rods. Got a decent price on them from inside the UK so am hoping they're better quality. Will photo them when they arrive. I also got another set of the standard ones coming as well. That spur gear isn't right I don't think. I've looked around and found the 64T 0.6mod is the right one. I've just ordered 2 (one for the XT and one for MT) 0.6 Module 0.6M 64T 64 Teeth Tooth Metal Gear EP 1/10 Black 9mm Wide 11184 5055681318178 | eBay Also ordered 2x 19T 0.6mod pinion. L619B Module 0.6 0.6M 19T 19 Teeth Tooth Motor Pinion Gear Black 540 5mm Bore 5055681359928 | eBay Might have a look at the shock covers. I'm was looking at the fabric ones that slide over the springs.
  16. I was looking at some on Amazon and Fleabay. need to measure up like, but these might be half decent. Only issue is delivery time… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0925XLJZY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_HFGV4W678E6GPXZBACEZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  17. Yeah I’ve been looking around at some all aluminum ones. Only problem is they’ll take a few weeks to come. Apparently FTX Carnage 6327 ones (I think that’s the number) fit. I’ve got HD front ones already…
  18. I get about 20 minutes out of 4000mAh 2s, about 30 out of the 6000. Large field, generally flat out. In saying that, I haven’t changed the cut offs yet, so still at 3.0V instead of 3.2/3.4. It’s on my list of jobs to do to change them both to 3.2. currently rebuilding and noticed this, so probably another order to MS tomorrow 😅😐
  19. I noticed on mine, as it looks like on yours as well, we both have the old style arms from stock... also when you did the diffs. was there any fluid or anything in them? I've got the new fluids to do mine now. Did you find the right amount? Your image looked right on page 17. I also figured out why people are filing down the back of the wheel hex nuts. It’s because the transfer of energy from them ends up bending the little lips over making it extremely difficult to get the pins out to get the hexes off…
  20. Yeah, I figured they would be. I did ask him to do it in ABS or a carbon fiber filament, but he said he didn't have carbon fiber and the ABS machine was kaput. Not sure how it was printed to be honest. I really do want a printer and would love to get one to play with. My wife isn't keen though (understandably, would print loads of useless things😄). Yeah, I've debated on grabbing nylon sheets to be honest. I just haven't got all the tools at my house to cut it though. Work tools I probably could, but it's time to sort into that. I could probably ask a few favours for CNC'd aluminum parts, but again, it's time as I'd have to create a CAD file (easily done, I've got SolidWorks and Creo for my work, just time consuming). I've got some aluminium body posts. I'm more worried about the transfer of energy from that into the mount though haha. May as well try it though I suppose. My XT is more the test dummy rather than the MT. Seems the MT has less issues than the XT though and that seems to be fairly true for a few. I did notice @James.Salso lost his front diff on his MT as well. Interesting that both MT lost that, and I haven't seen that problem on XTs (yet).
  21. Thanks for the tip @Nitroholic. I've just grabbed a Imgur account. I use to have a Photobucket account back in the day, but it appears they charge for it now. At least now I can see about doing little videos on here. I do have a YouTube, but I don't really use it much. My son is bigger into that for streaming etc. Need to get something so I can take footage easier whilst driving though 😄 Anyways, quite a bit has happened since the last update. Still waiting on some parts to come in from the last order (4th order, page 1.), but Modelsport were very kind and hooked me up with some spares in the mean time to get me back running. 🙂 I also managed to get a friend to 3D print me a set of suspension arms (got the file if anyone would like it) in PLA. Fitment is tight, but it works after a bit of work to them. I had to file down the area where the shocks fit into ever so slightly, and also tap out where the pillow ball joint screws into ever so slightly. Got it to work, but I had my reservations about it as it was PLA which is fairly brittle. Weight came in at 15g compared to the 17.5g from the original Maverick arms if you're curious. Suspension arms 3D printed. They looked pretty cool especially in the red. I wasn't complaining, I got them for free and wasn't keen on the red originally, but the red really grew on me when I saw it out and about. At any rate, we took them out again after I fixed the XT back up, re-straightened the shock shaft, added another set of washers to the front of the XT to test. Also noticed I bent a rear axle, but whatever figured it wasn't THAT bad, so ran it anyway with the aim to fix it next time. Pretty much left it all standard until I get my other parts. Plus the wheel hex nuts where the pin goes on two of them was fairly tight. Think there may be a slight issue with the nuts themselves. XT: The 3D printed arms failed in the same location as the Maverick ones after a few LiPos through it. Not surprisingly really, but I was testing it. Think maybe an ABS or a carbon fiber filament would be much stronger. I also noticed that it was the same side as previously, the same side that had the shock shaft that was bent back into place. Not sure, but maybe that could have been a factor. The rear axle was still bent, but probably not in any worse condition I'd say so that was good. Also snapped another body post. MT: All well with this, except I noticed, by chance, that we lost power to the front wheels and the MT was now running as RWD. I suspect the front diff has gone, but haven't investigated properly. Seems a common problem from other forums/groups though. So, evidently, that all lead to another quest of parts searching. Starting to worry a bit at the fragility of the XT. MT seems alright though to be fair. During looking for parts, I noticed that Modelsport were now selling Quantum Flux's supplied with HD Universal Drive Shafts AND HD Wheel Axle Shafts in the box. They also do another version with an upgraded 80A ESC for £20 extra now. Shy bairns get nowt, so I've cheekily asked if I could get these as we only ordered so recently. Modelsport kindly accepted and shipped out a few sets of them along with the broken bits covered by the Maverick warranty. Happy days, can't complain. Once again, Modelsport I can't praise highly enough. They did ask about the ESC from Maverick, and are still waiting for a decision on that, fingers crossed we get it. Would be a decent little upgrade. I would have paid for it like to be fair if it was an option when we bought it. Fifth Order from Modelsport: Parts that arrived next day: Maverick Body Clips (8pcs) (ALL Strada and EVO) - MV22029 - Lost a few more on the last run out. Maverick Body Post & Mount Set - MV150119 - Replaces the broken body posts again. Maverick Quantum Suspension Arm Set - MV150122 - Replaces the broken suspension arms again. Maverick Body Post & Mount Set - MV150119 - Replaces the broken body posts again. Maverick Drive Shaft 92mm (2pcs) - MV150148 - Part of the now included kit with new Flux's that ship out. Maverick Drive Shaft 92mm (2pcs) - MV150148 - Part of the now included kit with new Flux's that ship out. 2 x Non-Maverick Tagged HD Wheel Axle Shaft (2) - MV150232 - Part of the now included kit with new Flux's that ship out. 2 x Non-Maverick Tagged HD Universal Drive Shaft (2) - MV150231 - Part of the now included kit with new Flux's that ship out. 2 x Modelsport Antenna Tube - MSAT - MT didn't come with one. Got one in black and one in neon green. Schumacher Axle Grease Pot - U1300 - To use on the diffs. 2 x Etronix 2s 30cm Balance Lead Extension Wire - ET0245 - Figured it best be safe as the LiPo's don't sit full in the bag properly when charging. Maverick 12mm Wheel Hex Hub Set (4pcs) - MV150150 - Stop gap until the aluminium versions come in. Modelsport also provided me with a full front diff. replacement as apparently Maverick just try to send out piece parts and it can be pain if you haven't figured out what is entirely wrong with it. Back-ordered Parts: 2 x Maverick Aluminium 12mm Wheel Hub Hex Set (4pcs) - MV150184 - Part of the now included kit with new Flux's that ship Sixth Order from Modelsport (no photos): Parts that arrived next day: Maverick Quantum+ Spring Set 16mm x 65mm x 1.4mm 9 Coils (Firm/2pcs) - MV150236 - As I got a set already that I planned on putting on the rears, I figured I may as well go all out and grab a set for the front as well. Core RC Silicone Diff Oil 50,000 cSt 60ml - CR226 - Few suggestions to add this to the front diff. Apparently makes a big difference. Core RC Silicone Diff Oil 30,000 cSt 60ml - CR224 - Same as above. Few suggestions to use this on the rear diff. Back-ordered Parts: Core RC Needle Files in Case 6pc - CR265 - After filing down the 3D printed arms and looking at filing a bit of plastic away for the suspension post, it just made sense. I've got files, but nothing small or easy for RC use. No rush to get them. Also, my aluminum body posts from China turned up this week (link here: 4PCS Body Post Mounts w/ R-Clip Pin for 1:10 1:8 Racing Crawler RC Car Parts | eBay). They do fit, however they're a bit tight and the holes in the post are slightly larger than the OEM ones. Think they'll work with a bit of persuasion. Just worried about the knock-on effect of fitting these only to snap the actual body mount now instead... Beginning to think I should have just bought a Quantum + for everything I'm buying, but then again, that's part of the fun. Just need more time to fix things. At least I'm having fun with it though...don't think my wife is overly impressed though 😄 I'm working on her to let me get a 3D printer bought now 😅
  22. Oddly, I did the same thing as well. Managed to get an additional one on the front, but not on the rears as it makes it too tight. I bent a axle on the rear of mine as well. Need to tear it apart over the weekend I think. Hoping my other parts come in... Postie just dropped off 50k and 30k diff. oil and the other set of + springs. Will try and get it all fixed up over the weekend, but I imagine I've got a canny bit of work to do on it. Yeah, I've found some HSP stuff tends to be very similar. I've got an eBay car full of parts that MAY work. Tried to go for as many genuine parts as possible though for now.
  23. Nice @53HRAI like the Senton's. I was actually looking at grabbing a brushed version before I decided to stay with the Quantum. Nothing too major from me today. Got my aluminium body posts from China in the post yesterday/ They're very tight to fit into the mount. Am bit dubious on fitting them to be honest. Think if I do, it may just cause a break somewhere else (like the gear box mount....) Postie just dropped off a little package as well of some 50k and 30k diff oils and another set of Quantum Flux + springs (bit more firm, help with the rebound). Will wait to fit these once the HD shocks arrive.
  24. Good video @tomr that's cool flips. I need to learn how to land jumps properly. Think it helps when you have a decent jump to hit though as well 😄 Not bad damage wise considering what it's went through. Out of curiosity, running on a bent axle? What's the harm in that as I've bent one slightly (continued to run for another 2 LiPos 😄 )
  25. They just turned up today. Not too bad all things considered. Just as well as I snapped the rear ones on my XT as well. I think fitting these will help, but it might then subsequently snap the holders. They look about the same. just slightly bigger than holes and not as many holes in them as the stock ones. Think a bit of gentle persuasion will get them in though. 😄
