I've decided to take a punt on a couple of DS3235s from AliExpress to see how they get on. I doubt they'll actually be 35kg but I've watched a few testing videos and it seems like none of them are quite as "claimed"! I've been seriously considering the Savox, possibly the SW-2290SG just for complete overkill - metal case and 55kg, doubt I'll ever over stress that one 😁

Budget isn't too much of an issue but I'd like to keep it under £150. I've actually got a DS3225 that I picked up from AliExpress, probably only cost around £15 so I thought "why not" but now I'm second guessing the purchase. I'd rather spend more a buy one if you know what I mean (although I know price is no guarantee of quality). I've already done the servo saver mod by adding a couple of circlips to tighten it up plus I've fitted a metal servo mount so now I'm looking at getting the best, most reliable steering I can. Hi Folks, I'm thinking of upgrading the servo in my Kraton as the stock one isn't great so I've been trying to research what the best option is and I'm getting so confused with all the various opinions! Obviously I'm looking for something with decent power (25kg+), good speed and ideally waterproof (just in case) but there are just so many to choose from. I'm mostly blasting around on a local beach and in the garden until I can locate somewhere else half decent to move onto jumps etc. I keep hearing good and bad things about the cheap and cheerful DS3225/35 but how reliable are the claimed specs? Then there's Savox but a lot of folks seem to say they're not really worth the expense and some can be noisy (not that I'll hear it over everything else). Plus JX Ecoboost, Hitec, PowerHD. Each manufacturer (apart from the Chinese ones) seems to do about 3 dozen different models too! I'm open to suggestions of what would be a good choice? Update on the area near the Castle Park industrial estate - took a walk up there yesterday and they've put solar panels all over the place, very little open space for bashing anywhere to be seen. Will keep an eye out and update if I find any other areas. Phil

I'm looking out for places myself, so far I've only had a bit of a blast on Talacre beach but it can be damn cold at the moment! Plus you then have to clear out about half a tonne of sand when you get home. Sadly you can't really do anything in the dunes due to it being a nature reserve. There used to be a couple of patches of rough ground near Castle Park industrial estate in Flint, they've built a solar farm on one spot but there may still be some good areas, haven't had chance to go and take a closer look yet, I'll update when I get there. Possibly the coastal paths around Shotton and the Quay? Where the old pill boxes are? Not sure how rough the ground it, might be a real suspension work out. Another place I've been thinking about is the old Greenfield market. What used to be the car park has been blocked off but you can park at the car spares place and walk across, that might be worth a look but I don't think there's much opportunity for jumps if that's what you're looking for. No idea if you'll check this but I'll leave all this info here in case anyone else in the area comes looking. Cheers, Phil

Hi folks, Just signed up, been into RC of and on for year, could really afford much as a kid (back in the days of the original Tamiya Hornet & Grasshopper) but now I'm a lot older and have my own disposable income I'm getting back into it. Collection so far: HPI Savage 25 - haven't run this for quite a while due to a few house moves, really must get a new glow starter, plug & fuel and fire it up again; HPI E10 Vaughn Gittin Jr Ford Mustang - more of an ornament really; Tamiya 1995 SVT Cobra Mustang - another display piece, bought as I used to own the real thing (V6 version though) Arrma Kraton 6S V5 - the latest addition and the one I'm really using, an awesome beast of a machine! Also have a DJI Phanton 1 and Spark, mostly for aerial photography use. Hoping to learn a lot on here! Cheers, Phil
