Thanks, I had no idea there was such a thing. I'll take a look tonight. Oddly I do not think the car has a bind socket on the receiver.....but again I'll check tonight.

If it’s the stock Rx I think it says ch3/bind.

Theres usally a button or a wee plug you plug into receiver to bind

best checking the manual see how its done

In the box there’s a bind plug with a little dibber on it - you have to plug it into the receiver and press the weeny button - there are instructions online if you’ve lost your manual.

  3. I already have a Sendero HD which is a really great truck, I totally rate Element - however it doesn’t have the 2 speed or remote locking diffs that I crave…

Krystal is built on an HPI Venture chassis kit, which I really can’t fault - but is a similar driving experience to the Sendero, being single speed and permanently locked diffs.

Think I’m just looking for a technically decent build with some new features I’ve not had before, and a different driving experience when it’s finished.

Have you had a look at the news pages as theres been a few new crawlers announced and spec wise they seem pretty decent

Your mates TRX4 has it been modded at all ?

Ive modded mine a bit with low down brass parts like brass portal covers etc

    No it was completely stock.

I really do want a kit though not a RTR, and one with “features”.

  5. I really fancy a new kit to build, something meaty and interesting and having had my first ever play with my mates TRX4 today am rather taken with the idea of locking diffs, 2 speed, maybe dig?  All things I’ve never had in a truck before.

Not been paying much attention for the last couple of years, so what’s available and what is worth it?  Most of all, what’s a quality kit to build and a great car to drive?

    How did Krystal do ?

Really really well, she’s come a long way.

Both my mates had a good long play too and we’re both really surprised about how good she is considering her Tonka roots.

A great success.  Really surprisingly capable considering her small wheels, long overhangs, low clearances and ridiculous weight 😂

I did try that and the servo worked and when switched off it was dead (correctly). It’s just when the motor is connected it runs without any reason regardless of switch on/off or transmitter on or off

I mean next time around, with the new stuff

  8. Have you checked that the drive train is completely free moving without a motor installed?

A transmission that is bound will draw more amps and could potentially blow the ESC I guess - but not with it switched off

I have just done the test if directly connecting the battery (it’s ok it is brushed) and it is dead. Seems it must have been killed off and I Just got unlucky that it ran first thing. I’ve located a shop with a new motor so will pick that up. Please do let me know if you can see anything wrong with my wiring though so I don’t destroy another motor 😢

Wiring and jumpers all look good, I’d just tidy it up a bit more myself, but it’s all correct

  10. Does everything in the transmission turn freely with no binding?  Have you had the motor out at all, could you have meshed the gears too tightly when you put it back in?

It’s possible that the motor may be damaged - a bad motor can sometimes turn with no load on it but as soon as you fit wheels and expect it to go it doesn’t have the torque to work.
