  1. Fiddlesticks. Very greatfull or your help though. Thanks.
  2. I'm not sure how hpi rebrands the flux motors but I know it is the one which comes as stock in the hpi firestorm flux. That would make it 5700kv I think.I am looking to rebuild rather than replace is it is cost and labor efficient, the motor's only a few months old.
  3. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement motor axle for the HPI flux brush-less motor. The stalk of mine has just snapped of at the pinion gear...Also does anyone know if they are hard to replace?
  4. I shall have another look at the mesh and also get the bumper and wheelie bar before going lipo.
  5. I have an e-firestorm flux which I run on NiMh. Every so often it shreds a spur gear. It's not so often as to be a real bother but it is just consistent enough to make me think there may be a problem. Are fluxs known for shredding spur gears? What are shredded spur gears most often caused by (like the motor moving? Or the mesh being too snug? Or the slipper clutch being incorrectly adjusted etc)? Additionally I am hopefully going to be upgrading to 2c LiPo soon. Are there any must have upgrades I need to get before I do this Edit: Just seen this thread, don't worry about this bit. Any help appreciated.

  7. Thanks for all your help and advice people, one way or the other I'll manage to get hold of one, seems it will be possible.
  8. This is not a request for a RC car donation. I have been volunteered to run something for my place of study's comic relief day, its a day when all sorts of money raising things get put on and the money raised is donated to comic relief. A teacher wants me to organise an event whereby students pay to have 5 laps around a track with an rc car timed and then the winner (one with the shortest time) gets a small prize. There is a small area in the courtyard which can be closed of and forms a natural "track" but the problem is I need an rc car to do it with. Ideally a bullet proof Tamia that would have a reasonably decent chance of lasting the day no matter what they crash it into. I do not own one and have not the money to afford one. Does anyone know where a car can be obtained/hired/otherwise gotten hold of. I can't think of a solution and I'm considering telling him it's a no go. Suggestions welcome.

    new laptops

This: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops/703_7006_70006_xx_BA00002506-BV00149795-BA00002522-BV00172555-BA00002529-BV00149862/xx-criteria.html?sPageInfo=1_12 looks good, you get an Intel i3 processor. Concentrate more on getting a decent processor rather than allot of memory for that price, see if you can push him to

    hp DV3 laptop

Ok, thanks for reply people, I guess the poor battery life if to be expected, It's a ultra portable, only 13 inches which means a small battery...i'll have to think about that. Don't really mind about the terrible speakers, I have a sub in my house and a huge hifi set up that I can hook it up to. As for the bundled software, that's to be expected seeing as it is not a custom built peice, first thing anyone must do with a new computer is head straight to the control panel and boot out all that terrible freeware. @soximus: thanks
  11. err, can't you just retrieve windows and so long as you don't have an active password on your account it will keep all your files in a folder on the main account? That's how mine worked, obviously don't do it unless your sure it will work, I'm not 100% sure

    hp DV3 laptop

I'm thinking of getting this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-dv3-4050ea-06487003-pdt.html?srcid=867&xtor=AL-50 Does anyone have it and is it any good, I've heard things about overheating. Thanks in advance
  13. Me and a lecturer decided that we'd take out my e-firestorm flux and speed test it using his latest toy that he made...a micro radar. He had to connect it up to his laptop in order to get the readings and determine speed of approaching targets. And I had to drive right at it, he set it up on a curb so I cold drive it at full speed down the road and pass by right next to the curb, the closer to the sensor the better... The fire-storm was stock everything with 6cell eastpower 4200mah nimh's. After a couple of trial runs the inevitable happened; trying to get as close to the curb as possible, I got a little tooclose to the curb and hit it at full speed. Firestorm took flight and cleared several hundred
  14. ok, thanks, been looking for an excuse to go LiPo
  15. About 2 years, been fine up until now
  16. Parents are worse than partners Guaranteed
  17. I'm running 2 4200 eastpower nimh's. One of them takes a normal time to charge and subsequently run down. The other charges in about 1/4 the time it should (a little over 30min on 3amps) and runs down after about 5 min, I've checked the voltage across each cell, and the voltage across the whole pack, both are around what they should be. No busted cells then. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem is. Same car, same charger so I presume its the battery rather than anything but...
