  1. Hi thepoacher yeah pre covid we were regulars at force running trucks and test and tune saturdays twice a month it's a great little venue if we were more local we'd be there every race night, yeah I heard about the horbury bashes but it's not easy for us to get there (we go on public transport from Keighley 1hr and 20 min on 2 trains and a bus) yeah most of what we've got is 1-12 and 1-10 on road with the exception of 2 mardave cobras
  2. Unfortunately it's not a schumacher (the on road 1-10 ones are belt drive) I think it could be a team associated or maybe one of the hpi range, I'd get an id on the chassis first and check spares availability before you throw a lot of power in it
  3. Cool, they both look like letricars or early mardave (letricar became mardave), yeah both are 70s lemans style carpet racers, they will look cool tidied up a bit
  4. 70s or early 80s mk1 stock car from what iv seen, if you're on Facebook look up a group called vintage mardave buggies and cars there's a lot of knowledge on there. If you put up pics of the other 2 I may be able to id them iv got a few mardaves and a bit of knowledge of the cars
  5. I thought I'd do a proper introduction as I'm new to the forum but I'm a long time rc person on land, water and air but mainly cars at the minute. I do a bit of racing with my partner at force raceway at ossett (which is a great venue) running tamiya trucks and once the pandemic is over well be doing 1-12 scale hot hatches.
  6. Nice, iv not seen a cox engine in a few years, I didn't know you could still get the glow heads in the uk
  7. Id go mardave the customer service is brilliant (but iv not used kamtec yet bit he's fairly good from the reviews of other people at the track) and we recently got 2 hot hatches (hot rods) and they came 90% built out of the box (I think the mini is the same) all that needed doing was the steering linkage, fit the wheels, motor (not included but can be got from modelsport), fit the body mounts, cut, mount and paint the shell and fit the radio. I will happily assist with advice on motor, esc and servo to meet the spec of the class, iv attached screen shots the regs from force so you can get an idea of the requirements
  8. They are starting a class for them at force raceway but they are new so classes are just starting and they can be quick if you look up rc kicks on YouTube he crashed his on a speed run at 58mph and one guy at the force has almost matched the touring car lap time with one, if your lads not got a lot of experience it can get expensive real quick, I race to a tight budget and mardave stuff is under £10 for most replacement parts (even the body's are £10) and in a year of running 5 of them with my partner iv only had to replace 3 kingpins, 2 motor pods and a driveshaft (we've got 7 between us now)
  9. Which v12 are you running? Any pics of your set up? Bearing front hubs?
  10. Nice cobra sport, mardave do some nice 5 spoke rims that are a straight swap but alternatives for the rear need a bit of modification because they don't have hexs and the axle is slightly larger than standard, the rims are 2.2 so can take any standard 1/10 buggy tyres iv got some schumacher honeycombs for ours mardave are releasing the cobra evo (slightly updated version of the old cobra) at the end of the month and are selling some update parts for the gearbox and axles but they are pretty much the same as you've got, These are mine and my partners cobras both have 17t brushed motors (which is enough for a car designed in the early 90s)
  11. A good track and class for mid week racing would be force raceway at osset (it's an indoor circuit run by a great couple who both race) with either a mardave mini or hot rods (also called hot hatches as they are hatch back bodys) and are also made by a company called kamtec, they are 1/12 scale, they are very cheap on spares and its a good beginners class that's run on a Thursday night. Iv got one several 1/12 mardaves and they are easy to maintain. They also run these at the Yorkshire mardave club. There's a track at Halifax that's outdoor but I don't know if they do mid week racing and there's another track at Wakefield called northern race and drift that do racing on a Friday night that runs mainly tamiya classes.
