  1. Had a few holidays with my parents as a kid and had good memories of it (and my dad on the back in the rain with a brolly sailing along, lovely British weather). Sure I had a go all those years ago, but don't remember. TBH they were great did the first lock with us and got me to do a "donut" on a winding (360 turn, normally you 180 to turn around), and when she left us I was like..... "Ummm someones left me in charge of this thing!", but after 5/10 minutes it's not that bad at all! Some of the bridges are VERY narrow and didn't hit one. Only time got a minor bump was when someone else was turning at a junction (I was reversing). SO it's not that bad at all, just keep watching and lot's of small minor adjustments, slow down, think what you wanna do, and it comes. We'll definitely look into a week probably next year on a half term. We didn't do any locks (other than assisted with the rental company, who were fantastic), and that'd worry me with just me and my 11 y/o daughter (her strength on the lock tap thingies). Give it a go, only costs the price of a "cheaper" RC car! And find a reputable company (this one near Nantwich Cheshire), excellent.
  2. River Canal! Dunno why, but today took a canal boat out for the day (staycation!) Took the RC car with us and had a little blast on a field for a while! Great times!
  3. Yeah the gold was a great choice, I love it! I wasn't sure! Just ordered another shell for it and some more paints as she wants to freestyle a paint job... EEk
  4. Steering servo was very loose, and whoever put it together used the wrong screws all over the shop! Tightened the steering, and yeah looking forward to the new radio and ESC to arrive
  5. Pulled out the old radio and ESC (what is that with a servo?! Olden days hey?!) Put the Sand Vipers internals in, and worked a treat on the road (the battery was dead too, but hey ho) Ordering a 1560 ESC and same radio as have in Viper. Put it all back in Viper, and borrowed it's back wheels! Hah. Currently got it all apart and degreasing the Diff, etc. New grease to go in, and replace the plastic with the metal bearings I just got in the post the other day as spares! Great fun this is
  6. Been on the fields between sandbach and middlewich which is fun and found some woods. Did trek to Parkhall other side of Stoke too. Delamere sounds fun but not been that far yet. The woods near me on fields between Elworth and Bradwall found yesterday and lot of empty space there. What car(s) you got?
  7. Was talking with me running/cycling mate on Monday about me new sand viper and said he had an old one in loft. Today he gave me it (not working) for the kids to race me! So gonna swap out bits and work out what's not working and get this back in"the road"...
  8. Cheers guys. Will get that ordered then with some lipos (first time into lipos). Also acquired out if nowhere another car might need some Spares for as apparently not working!
  9. https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/skyrc-t200-200w-acdc-charger Is this ok for the price or Anything else I should look for around similar price. Want to have options for multiple types of battery and dual prett cool. If something similar price and better please let me know. Had a good search around net but posts are old. So 2020 advice please!
  10. Replaced a number of screws with hex screws and some bolts in places. Used a little lock tight and going to try it out today!
  11. Have got some blue thread lock (will use on the metal to metal parts) with some more grease coming today, and a whole new Hex set of screws and bearings replacement (if wanna change em) here. Going to put the thread lock on metal to metal ones (motor came undone for example last weekend), and try hot glue on or over the screws for the ones coming apart, and see how I get on tonight. Also not tried the torque tuned, but will put it in later too. Will let you know how get on, esp if can get back down to the track this weekend weather dependant!
  12. Worried about using super glue as never get em out again! Will try one of the methods and order some replacement parts and screws and if they fail can trace! Expensive this RC lark haha but good fun!
  13. All very good advice. Would hot glue work too? Might drizzle a little in and screw in and see what happens, it's the undoing and stripping the heads I'm also concerned about hah, hense wanting HEX head screws. Other than the Tamiya toolset (https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-builders-8-piece-screw-driver-set/rc-car-products/388188) is there a better alternative for the JIS screwheads?
  14. I do have some PTFE tape around, might try that on one, and see how I get on (once round with it!) Just think I did over screw one or two, and might have dethreaded already! Lovely learning curves! Hah!
  15. Great information there. Change the plastic, you mean, get a whole new part and replace? I kind of like the filling in idea, seen youtube videos of some solutions such with helicoil (sp?) self tapping plastic screws (that like you course threaded instead of machine), etc. I don't have loads of tools, so time for some new tools (battery drill, etc) dremels, etc! Who knew I'd need all this haha! Would a glue gun work? Whilst here, hex head I would like for various reasons, anyone used these guys? https://rc-schrauben.de/Screw-kit-for-the-Tamiya-DT-02-Steel-black ?
  16. Hi all, Think I understand thread lock when using on metal, and will order some when I make my next order this week (for the engine mount, and other nuts, etc). But what do you do about plastic? A number of screws came lose on what I think is a very short bash run yesterday (great fun). I kept having to screw them back in etc. Even had one come off, and fortunately found it and the drive crank that flew off! I saw someone mention PTFE tape somewhere, but does this have the same melting effect as thread lock. And really daft question, is threadlock, just glue? How hard is it to undo it? I may have possibly over tightened and ruined a couple of the holes on my car (Sandviper DT-02 chassis), so any advice on how to re tap/repair these? Sorry I am all quite new to this, but find scrwes coming undone that easy and after only a few minutes not great!
  17. I smashed mime up! Broken all over. Great fun though!
  18. Just the track tbh mate. My car only a 1:10 and only good on the short stuff! Broke quite a lot on it so looking for suggestions on that. Will be back for sure!
  19. Well went this morning and loads of people there with 1:8 nitros. Hah good times but made me car look small/slow. Few issues with car will make seperate thread but really enjoyed it!
  20. Recharged it again think working car a little broken again after today's fun so will try it next time we have good weather too haha
  21. Think be busy Saturday morning then? Surely the teenagers are not up yet?
  22. Sweet. Going to try and get there this weekend weather dependant!
  23. OK, now the Sand Viper is back in the game, looking for some spare wheels/tyres. I assume the back wheels are 12mm Hex fitting, but the front are free wheeling on bearings. I wouldn't mind hacing a set for tarmac, and one for off road, with possibly larger wheels/tyres for more clearance for longer grass offroad... The back spikey ones I've had have had a hard time on the black stuff.... So they need to fit the Tayima DT-02 chassis. Problem is on modelsport, there are millions of choices, and very hard to work out what would fit! Seems a lot of clearance for bigger wheels/tyres, but not sure. Thanks again!
  24. Grrrr, plugged it in last night to charge it up for playing with in next day or so... About 3AM (and considering the heat, thunder, lightening and down pours) it beeps with vibrate every 5-10 seconds... It's boot looping, on/off, on/off. Trying to hold every combination of buttons for 10 minutes, eventually drag meself downstairs to hide in the bottom of the washing basket. No sleep is had... Think probably ran out of charge eventually, I hope... Was quiet when got up for work anyways! Will try again later
