  1. The Mad Bull has a very different setup to the Viper on the battery front. Slides in at the back, but will check out that battery as migth fit. The overlanders look a good shape TBH
  2. yeah choice does seem limited, bought a box style one which just squeezes into the Sand viper (just), with a little dremel mod. the viper easier to mod than the Mad Bull. The length is slightly more with Lipos, than the NiMah
  3. That's great, however mine didn't come with a holder at all on the end there (assume lost years ago), so I "made" my own with my first ever dremel job from a coat hanger, lol! Looks quite similar shape. It's the actualy batteries, not had, so will look into that over lander Cheers for that
  4. Lol, and I'[m just using 3000mAh 7.2V NiMah! Not found the 2S's that'll fit the bay yet.... grrr... Need to make an order this week, so will try again to get the right kind of Lipo to fit the stick format...
  5. Nice, those steering rods look good, might look at that for both cars. Do you know what length Shocks you got on it, I've read that 75 front, and 90 rear is what to get, or maybe 100 on the back? Slightly confusing on that. BTW the steering servo if a little out of alignment (in neutral), so might switch that. As I say it actually seemed to run better without that shock in place, lol!
  6. What were you saying about the front shock? So, how I know whats compatible? Bizarrely was just thinking whilst bashing it around the streering, really needs sorting, and new shocks would be grand. TBH it drove better once the shock broke! Hah! Also what can be done about the steering rods? Think the servo out of align on the front too, the whole front is very lose anyways. So will get oil shocks, new motor, and some new steering rods
  7. Cheers, some great information there. Will have another play tonight. The charger does tell you internal resistance, so will post those figures later. The "adaptor" cables I've made myself to fit Deans and XT30 (the charger fitted with XT60), and think they OK. Taking them down to 3.3 per cell is a good idea then
  8. OK so leave them discharged for a week, that's fair enuf. So close or below 3.7 before charging, got ya. If charging making sure use within a day or so. I'm new to LiPos so just being careful! They weren't 0.2 out on arrival, (we're close to the nominal/storage and both cells close) and have been identical, definately in that 0.03 range. OK that difference makes sense with regards to the whole pack, good to know (makes sense I am a logical computer programmer after all!) Not 100% from record what the ESC (HW 1060). Are these cheapies then? Assumed from "proper" suppliers, and not cheap off ebay/amazon would be alright. You've been a great help, one last thing. With regards to Amps I should use for charging and discharging, it is 1C (mAh/1000), so 3A and 4A for these two, or less. When it comes to discharge what should I be aiming at, oh silly question as you don't hah! The NiMah and NiCads get hot the Lipos haven't yet!
  9. neither has been charged as low as the ESC will let them. In the car (the 4000mAh one), the car was still running so went to "storage" it, as it was getting dark and won't be using it for a week or so. The other is actually in a Transmitter (new Radiomaster TX16S for drone flying), so took it out when left on one bar charge. Do I need to use the discharge mode on the charger then store/balance charge them? When new both batteries were close to the storage charge voltages. I did read someone not to let then cells get more than .2v from each other, and one of them was close to that limit, now about .1V
  10. It's both storage and balance charging it just never finishes! I did factory reset the charger too
  11. Cheers, I thought the same with balance, just seems can't get the 2nd cell to the 4.2 volts (that was weired to me as 3.7 x 2 = 7.4V, but I kind of get it!) Both brand new in the last week or so: https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/gnb-3000mah-2s-5c-lipo-battery-for-jumper-t16-t18 and https://www.modelsport.co.uk/absima-greenhorn-lipo-7-4v-45c-4000-hardcase-t-plug-/rc-car-products/440263
  12. Just got a Sky RC T200 charger, which worked well for a few days, but now I am struggling to "balance" the LiPos (I have 2), either to charge or to storage. They're both 2S one 3000 and one 4000mAh. The charger shows the two voltages from each cell. And if I set the charger to LiPo balance or storage it just never finishes. Tried 1Amp, all the way to 4Amps. I've set the time out to around 4 hours (240m). The batteries aren't hot in the slightest, and the actual Amps during charging to go low low... (i.e. 0.1/0.0). With the 4000mAh hard case I used in the car and ran it low, it charged up to around (I think from memory 4.2V per cell) quite quickly, but the second cell shows around 4.11/4.13, and the 1st 4.20/4.21. Seems not to be able to balance. I'm new to LiPos and read a lot around safety, etc, so trying to be careful. I get options for Amps and the number of cells, and have options for Charge, Auto, Discharge, Balance, etc. Any suggestions please, as neither of the batteries can complete balance, or storage mode atm. DO I need to balance charge every time, as there is a normal charge too? Cheers
  13. Oh seems stock for both is 17T pinions, so can't lower that. Assume I've only got the choice of 17 or 19, as the holes for the motor only allows that
  14. I have 2 of the stock motors spare, so will try one of them or stick the tamiya torque one from the viper into the MB. So switching to the 17T pinion will be easier on the motor, got it WIll order some 17T pinions, and probably some spare 19's too, as will probably need em! That motor is probably 15+ years old now, sooo...
  15. Just looking at these motors. You rebuild, and... What does the fewer turns do to the performance, affect it etc? Miht be time to google and look into this. Also slightly annoyed the Lipo I got doesn't fit the mad bull. Got a boxy one (dremel'd the SV to fit it), but not an option on the mad bull, so time to order some more batteries, and maybe a couple of motors to try. The NiMah used in the Mad Bull just don't seem to last as long as in the SV, and boy it gets hot hot, just have to assume that the motor is old and useless. Might swap the motors over and see. Had a few great sessions today used around 25,000 mAh in total
  16. SO we both have B-Twins and Sand Vipers.... Eeek
  17. Cheers mate. Yeah been trying to fly straight in simulator. Gates are just... Hah. Do like liftoff more but next time try need to see if can turn down the sensitivity, assume you can do that IRL, I know the chepo drones I've had a few of have sensitivity settings. Not tried velocidrone yet might do.
  18. A btwin 500se I think it is. Was 150 2nd hand but had only done 350 miles and excellent condition. Do love it though
  19. And get on your bike. Lovely weekend of weather
  20. Hah got me road bike on 20th June (so started cycling then) I've already done Beeston castle, cat and fiddle (up to Buxton) a fee 60 milers and 2 80 milers. As I say the motor on my bike good, me bike.... Well it'll do till next season hah
  21. So should get a 17t pinion for these faster motors?
  22. Can't help you there. But looking good
  23. So it does come yeah? Tried air 2 and liftoff. Sooo tricky
  24. Would love to but taking advantage of last day of Eat out to help out!
