  1. Thank you @Nick. The perfect answer. Let's all now bring the BRCA site down by booking memberships... I think the cost of the membership compared to the amounts we spend in our cars is really not much... And as I understand we also get to race on some of their courses for a small fee. For those who want.
  2. Yes, in a way you are right. Just be perfectly careful and nothing will happen. But then we are humans. And that comes with some imperfections. A split second of lost attention and the damage is there. It can happen to anybody. Even to the most careful person. And additionally you are never 100% safe from technical failure. It's the same with 1:1 cars. Applied the brake a split second too late and it has happened. That's why third party insurance is mandatory. In my life of 30 years driving, it happened only once. But the insurance paid more than I ever paid into the insurance. I don't expect to be sued for a million dollars if my son or I hit somebody. But probably the medical bills and loss of income. And that can already be steep enough. There are insurances in this world where their only purpose is to pull the money out of your pocket. Then in their small print is written "But we don't pay you anything". Just avoid those and go for those that really cover you well. Hence my fuss about the BRCA insurance. Is it really covering me? All of you above gave me good hints that I am covered and it is worth looking into it. But at the end only the small print in the membership document can give me the confirmation. So, I just signed my son up with the BRCA and if all is satisfactory, I will do the same for me. If not, we will have to look somewhere else.
  3. Hi @Fred barlow. Thanks for taking the effort and scanning that part. I really appreciated it. It looks like my bashing is covered. But then I read and reread it again. Maybe I am not good at legal English, but for me it doesn't state 100% that bashing anywhere is included. ( I am German after all, always looking for the hair in the soup ) I will try to give them a call and get some clarification. £20 won't hurt much, even if it eventually not covered. On a second point, how is it with children? 9 year old kiddo bashing with a Carnage or Rustler.... Will call and ask as well....
  4. Well, makes sense as well. Maybe you get the car low enough to even have some ground effect ( or whatever it is called ). Steering maybe to proportional. It would be less sensitive. Front wing to have some downforce in the front. Getting speed is really difficult, I would say. To gain speed you would need to gain more down force for stability at that speed. More down force means less speed. Can only be compensated with more power...
  5. You're clearly right with that. I am just fed with repairing. Because of that I never get the chance to continue on my Arduino project for my TRX-4.
  6. I was thinking.... about the aerodynamics. Does a rear wing actually really helps? After all, it's 4WD and you would need equal downforce front & back. Then I think the soft shock absorbers won't help much as well. I would lower the chassis as much as possible, replace the shocks with rods and only use the wheels to absorb the shocks.
  7. I just checked the BRCA website. The only hint I found about being insured outside events is "Park Bashers" on Redback's link. That is not enough information for me to instantly click and become a member. Nevertheless, membership is starting to make sense if my son wants to continue racing and gets interest in some organized events. Need time to think and search. Thank you both for your answers.
  8. I am happy with what I have. I think I need to spend more time to improve my skills and catch up with my son. Found this nice Traxxas video today: Instantly fell in love with the e-Revo. Sadly, my son as well. That would be 1400 quid in total. No way I can afford that....
  9. My dad just mentioned something that started to worry me a bit. What if my son or I damage something or even injure somebody? Is there a RC specific insurance available in the UK that covers even driving in public places? I know that in my homeland Germany one is required if one drives RC cars above a certain speed/size.
  10. Hi, My son loves the shell. And it's just £18. That's the only reason. No matter the price, they are made of Lexan. And they break. Best to keep the price low.... The only real solution would be a roll cage. I am somewhat getting a bit fed up with all the breakages. And that's not my son's fault. My son's skills have outgrown the rather weak Carnage. Thinking of giving him my Rustler... Its shell comes with a frame and skid rails. Or upgrading him to something 8th scale.
  11. I'm here. Just nothing to say since I am waiting for parts to fix the damages from last weekend. But then... New shell just arrived: And I refrain from saying anything about shocks. It was a pain with my Rustler. Had the same issue as you. Solved now with the most expensive solution (GTR shocks and progressive springs imported from US). So I am not in a mood going through it again with the Carnage.

    SOLD

Cool. Had the ad on the watch, but were not so interested in the Castle. Not a fan of mixing brands. Me very conservative. :-)

    SOLD

If @everclear1984 would take the motor, I would be interested in the ESC. :-) If @Jack Reacheris not interested.
  14. Thank you. Honestly, I never realized how well he handles the car until I saw the clips on my computer. Especially when he is reverse jumping. We just went bashing together and I never paid attention to his driving. I am going to add some more.
  15. Just found that there is actually a section to post videos. Well, here we go: A thread just about my son's FTX Carnage. Tuned with a Hobbywing Max10 and a 4000KV motor running with 3S Lipos.
  16. Speed run time for my son: Actually I went out with him today to film him with my Rustler. He outright refused! My Rustler is too slow! Left me somewhat speechless....
  17. Looking at your speedo, thinking of getting one myself. Went for some speed runs today and really want to know what speed my son is hitting with his Carnage.
  18. It might fit based on the pictures. But if not, it would be bad luck. That is the reason why I buy only if the measurements are given. And £33 for 1 with 3600mAh vs 2 from Zeee with 4500 mAh for £52. And the Voltz only discharges at 40C, while the Zeee has 50C. The Zeee deal is clearly better.
  19. With 4000KV and 2S you are already faster than the factory Vantage brushless. FTX only fits a 2950KV motor. And then you still have the option to go even faster with 3S. I think it is a better path. I am currently working on my son's speed run film with the Carnage, filmed this afternoon. Will upload it in about an hour. Then you will see what 4000KV and 3S can do to your Vantage.
  20. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B089YNL95B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 will probably fit. But check the measurements. I presume based on the parts manual that the Vantage chassis is identical to the Carnage/Bugsta.
