Hi
Quite a novice at RC cars and recently decided to dust off my old BSD Flux Assault its the first version.
My old NiMh batteries are past there best and I'm wanting to look at option for new batteries. I keep getting tempted to go for LiPo but wonder if I'm likely to see any real benefit. I also can't 100% work out if the car is compatible with LiPo batteries.
The car is this model https://www.centuryuk.com/Spares/Car-Spares/Flux-Assault and the ESC is https://www.centuryuk.com/Spares/Car-Spares/Upgrades/13405-/BSD-Baja--Storm--Assault--Onslaught-Brushless-ESC-45Amp
I have to replace my current NiMh units. The 1800 mAh 7.2v is just about ok but the does not not seem to get to full speed and can quickly get to the point where the car sort of stop starts i understand that may be some low voltage protection on the ESU is that right. I have a 5300 mAh 7,2v Voltz branded but that wouldn't even turn the wheels the ESC powers on and that's it. Can the older batteries be reconditioned? I read about discharging and then re-charging them but i hear you need a special charger for that, My current charger is a Vector AC/DC NX 85 but it can only charge the batteries.
I'd have to invest in a new LiPo charger if i switched but that's not a massive issue for me unless the prices are astronomical. My son is looking to get a car for his birthday and we may get him a newer version of the car I have which now come with LiPo batteries on the RTR cars.
The car can often sit for a while so getting batteries that can be left unused for a while is appealing are LiPo any better for this.
Thanks in advance.
Simon
