  1. Certainly don't think it's dying. This is my first fray back into it since 1998 when I had a fleet of nitro cars. I'm just glad I can now finally get a lunchbox after a 30 year wait lol. Back then there wasn't the forums as there is now. I found that a lot of enthusiasts used to hang around the model shops chatting. They did up my way anyway. You could go in to get a few parts and end up there for a few hrs chatting. Sadly there were four model shops close to me and everyone of them has now closed. Think the closest one to me now would be a 2hr or so drive so have to go with the online purchases now. The choice online aswell is bewildering so there's certainly something for everyone. Just my 2 pence worth.
  2. Thanks for the info 👍🏼
  3. More parts ordered this morning. Tyre foam inserts and glue, Absima 55mm shocks and mounts all from modelsport. 😁Cracking website that for parts👍🏼
  4. Hi guys. Looking at getting this twin stick for when I get my lunchbox. Certainly looks like it'll do the job but would love to hear anyone elses views on it https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=407387
  5. Hi Guys. Well slowly becoming a LB owner but at the moment I'm only a parts owner lol. Will be hopefully ordering a lb once payday comes but in the meantime I've ordered a few bits so far. These being : bearings, aluminium body mounts. A quicrun 1060 ESC and a alturn servo. Been looking for a hpi firebolt 15t motor but modelsport has them on order with the supplier at the moment. Not in a hurry for it anyway. Next items will be absima oil shocks plus a 55mm one for the 5th shock mod. Tyre inserts will be obtained too. Still got to look at batteries, a charger and a radio control unit. Any suggestions will be greatly received!😁. Not thing I did obtain from work was a can of yellow paint from rustoleum. It's called hard hat yellow. Did a test spray an it does look a bit more orange so will wait till I get the lunchbox wheels to compare before I commit to spraying the shell. I checked the Ral no on the paint can and it's 1018. The tamiya ts-16 yellow has the equivalent no of 1016 so not too different but again will wait and see. Can't wait to get the actual car ordered though as I've waited 30 odd years for this lol but for now it's exciting looking for parts and ordering them and of course reading all the info on here.
  6. Cheers guys. There are some cracking "lunchys" on here!. Been looking at the quicrun 1060 so looks like I'll opt for one of them. Any recommendations on a servo and radio kit?. Cheers
  7. Hi all As I said in my post in the introduction section I am looking to get a lunchbox (Yes I'm one of those that wanted one back in the day but wasn't lucky enough! Lol ). Anyhoo I see that the choice of options upgrades etc is mindblowing so I have a few in mind that I will be doing. In fact I have already ordered the bearings and aluminium body mounts lol. So my question is and I know this will have been asked to death before but can anyone recommend a good ESC, servo, motor(brushed) battery and radio control. (twin stick is the choice for me). I am opting to just buying the lunchy on its own and so would rather purchase the electronics separately and have it more to my preference rather than buying a bulk kit from a store and having to upgrade later. I know I will end up upgrading a lot of the mechanicals as time goes on but would rather get the electrical side of it done from the start. Tia Dave
  8. Hi all, Newbie here from North East Scotland. Always been a fan of RC cars. Had 3 in the past all nitro (Lancia Delta, Escort WRC and a Scooby). Been away from it all for quite a few years now but looking to get back into it with my young lad. Looking to buy a Lunchbox as always wanted one back in the day but Santa or birthday never brought one lol. Anwyay looking forward to having a trawl around this site to see everyones toys. Cheers Dave
