    Tyres for Atom K164

    I'm hoping some of you can help

     

    I've just got myself a Atom superstox K164 and very new to this

     

    I've been advised to buy the following

    Front 40sh 42mm 

    Rear 37sh 44mm

     

    But I cannot find these size tyres. Apparently you have to true them yourself. 

    Funnily enough buying a truing machine is outta my budget. 

     

    Is there a company that do this for you or can you but them trued and resized?

    Keeping Transmitters Safe

    Hey everyone

     

    So I've been doing ALOT of testing with sticks and wheels. For me sticks win, I am alot more controlled and faster.

     

    I've saved up and bought a nice new one but want to protect it.

    It'll be taken to clubs around the UK so nothing to go on a plane. 

     

    Any recommendations on whay people use to protect them?

    Evening all

     

    I just bought a Kyosho Mini-Z RWD Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

     

    It's my 1st 1/28. I absolutely love it.

     

    But are there any mods or upgrades I could do.

    I'm only racing at home at the moment but love to upgrade them.

     

    Also where can you buy treaded tyres for them in the UK?

    Do you buy the tyre and to the separate and glue them?

    Fancy trying 1:28 scale racing?

    Hiya

    I have just been searching the web for 1:28 scale cars and found your post. 

     

    I know it's a year later but where did you manage to get a car that cheaply and all the gear for £160

     

    I currently run 1:10 & 1:22 but seriously looking to get in to 1:28

    Starting out in Mini-Z racing can cost as little as £130 for a brand new stock car with transmitter and can, with modifications,  exceed £700. I've been racing in stock class for some time now and it hasn't cost me more than £160 in total, and that's with additional tyres and some broken parts, so it's very affordable, and racing in the stock class is incredibly fun and competitive given how little you have to spend.

     

    The basic stock car comes with a brushed 70t motor which can be upgraded to 50t right down to 30t and runs on AAA batteries. Obviously, the lower mAh batteries gives better speeds/punch. Our stock class are limited to 1100mAh but our modified class mostly use 750mAh - 900mAh, high output batteries. You can also buy the Mini-Z VE PRO which comes with a 5600kv brushless motor that can also be upgraded to 12000kv with plenty of choices in between. The Mini-Z VE PRO AND MINI-Z VE EVO cars can also run 2s lipos for those that think they can tame their cars at at ridicuous speeds. Going that far really depends on the size of your track, though, and whether your club allows lipos in their classes.

     

    As you can tell, these cars are highly customisable. You can change motors, differentials, pinions, suspension springs, dampers, servo, servo gears, bearings, wheels, tyres and tweak the car via an app using bluetooth. There are also well over 100 scale bodies to choose from Fiat 500s to Nissan Skylines to Mclaren P1s to Sauber C9 Le Mans cars and you can also buy non-scale lexan body shells. You can buy these bodies unpainted too and give your car a unique paint job.

     

    If you fancy having a go, look around for local clubs or ask in this forum. I belong to Ashford Radio Control Car Club which is based at Godinton Primary School, Lockholt Close, Ashford, Kent and they specialise in 1:28 scale Mini-Z racing. I travel from Hastings every monday night to race there which takes me about 45 minutes. Some of our racers come from as far as London, Croydon and Gatwick to race at our club.

     

    For a limited time only, our club is offering FREE racing and a FREE loan car for one night to see if you like it, so pop along if you're within travelling distance as it won't cost you to take part. Loan cars are limited by numbers, so please let the club know you want a car by visiting our Facebook group. Join the group anyway if you want to learn more about it or ask questions. Our club has a tuck shop, parts and car store, pits with power, parking, toilets, disabled access (upon request), heating and plenty of people willing to help you set up and fix your car and help get you racing.

    Cleaning brushless motor

    So took it too work with me today and blasted it with compressed air lines.
    Its now alot cleaner but theres still some in between the red coils inside. I hope it'll be ok.

    Wire Gauges

    So I have just bought myself my 2nd kit but now a better one.

    I have a Trinity Revtech 24K 13.5T Motor (gold)

    But I have no idea about what gauge wire i should be using for my kit.

    I can't find any info about this motor.

    Is there a general rule?

    Awesome. I'm looking to get the 17.5t motor as I'm v v new to this and rather start slower I think than a motor that fast.

    A good Stick Transmitter

    So I've been swapping and changing between my stick and wheel, I know I'm likely to be in a minority here but the sticks feel much more natural to me, but it may be because I've played a lot of racing games on my xbox and that's why comes naturally.

    The cheap one I have, the accelerator stick gets stuck in the up position which is not great. Plus the thumb sticks feel too long and cheap

     

    Can anyone suggest a good one?

    Or is it a case that I will just need to practice ALOT with the wheel?

    Charging Batteries away from a mains plug

    So I'm taking my Ebuggy out and about at the weekend. I am currently only using NiMh batteries until i gain confidence and knowledge about the LiPo ones.

    Anyway I read somewhere that i should take a 12v leisure battery with me to charge my batteries.

     

    When i google these, all i see are car batteries.

     

    What do i need to buy?
