  1. Just the 2 years late for this one 😀 Voltz 3s hardcase fits perfectly. And......it's the most fun RC car I own. Not as heavy and fast as the Arrma Big Rock, but demands some skill to drive and it's proved to be very robust too. Feels like a quality product and drives very well out of the box. If I was starting again, with the knowledge I have now, this is the first RC I would buy.
  2. Sorry for the late reply.... .....new Traxxas stuff has been delayed, so still having a think. Have to say the Associated RB10 RTR is starting to look mighty tempting. There's an A Main video out there showing the buggy fitted with larger wheels, looks great as a light basher. Also appears to be a tough little buggy and might prompt me to start racing with the stock wheels. I'll have a drive over to Modelsport when everything's in stock and have a proper look at them both. Edging towards the Associated atm though!
  3. Thank you. I think I'll probably go for the new Rustler. As a Tamiya fan, still fancy a Mad Bull as well, though it might be a bit too similar to my Lunchy, which is still making me laugh after many years. This hobby is crazy........😀
  4. Hiya. Love my Arrma Big Rock, can't really fault the thing. Looking for something similar in 2wd, just to scratch an itch. The Rustler/Stampede VXR appeals, I notice an updated model will be available at the end of the month, that appeals. I'd initially considered a Mad Bull, but I think something a bit tougher would be a better choice. I love my Lunchbox, but fancy something a bit more capable. Not fussed if rtr or kit, not bothered about brand as long as spares will be available for some time. Thanks in advance folks.
  5. Hiya..... Meeting a mate in Preston this week and looking for new places to run a couple of Arrma 3s's. All ideas welcome. Oh, Friday afternoon if you fancy joining us. 🙂 Thanks in advance!
  6. Hiya! Just a quick update. The Arrma has been excellent. Nothing has broken, although I have replaced the front shocks due to grinding the bottom eyelets down on kerbs. Idiot! Apart from my stupidity, I'm not sure I can fault it. It's tough, fast, handles very well and is very versatile. I was very surprised at the effort taken to make it easy to work on. The power limiter on the controller is a nice touch and everything about it seems to have had serious thought put into it to make it pleasant to use. I've bought another body, just because I find the black a bit boring, and some RPM arms just in case, but I don't think I'm ever going to need them. Great, well balanced and idiot friendly product. Stay safe and love to all. Pete.
  7. Well , after watching hours of YouTube vids I took your advice and now have an Arrma Big Rock and a 2s 6500mha Lipo! It's brilliant. All I've done is check the mesh and put some new oil in the shocks, but so, so impressed. As a 51 year old with a Tamiya fetish, this is a whole new world. It's built well, is easy to take apart and feels like someone has actually taken the time to sweat the details. It feels like a quality, well balanced item - I can't find any real weaknesses apart from the boring colour. I was worried that it wouldn't be as much as much fun as something I'd built myself, but it's just as much fun as my heavily modded Lunchbox, just different. Delivered in 2 days by Modelsport. Spot on. Cheers.
  8. Hiya! Looking for a new truck to complement my Tamiyas. The Arrma Granite V3 3S BLX seems to be the popular, safe choice at the moment and I like the look of it. However, a quick trawl through the Modelsport site has thrown up the new 2wd HPI Jumpshot Flux, available in MT and ST versions.... ....and the new Maverick Quantum +, currently shown in ST guise.... I'm wondering what you lot think about these new releases? At £250 each they seem exceptional value. Seems worth hanging on to get some real life reviews, but your opinions would be very much of interest. Thanks in advance.
  9. ?. Currently sat in the big lounge of our climbing club in the middle of nowhere in North Wales. Managed to set up a crawling course with two tables, some upside down plastic chairs, hardbacks, rucksacks, boot bags and camping mats as wibbly-wobbly bridges. ? The Scout has been awesome, everyone who tries it (from nearly five with help from mum, to seventy odd) has had a great time. Currently on alcoholic forefiets for refusals/rollovers. I'm convinced some people are playing to lose. ?. Off to Dinorwic slate quarry tomorrow for some outdoor fun. Snow's forecast. Can I post vids on here straight from my phone or do I need a third party account?
  10. Hiya. Quick drive over to Modelsport to pick up some hardware to mount my posh Fastrax shocks to the shiny new Lunchbox I received for Christmas. I appear to have walked out with a Maverick Scout, absolutely no idea how that happened..............? Ah well, a quick charge up and a couple of hours log crawling later it would appear I'm in love. ? How much fun are these things? Slow enough that the five year old granddaughter can control it, even my wife reckons it's cute! It appears to be very solidly built and for the price I'm absolutely delighted with it - my first non Tamiya RC and first RTR. Obviously, I'm going to take it to bits and put it back together at some point, but tomorrow I'll be building a little crawling course in the back garden. I could never afford an RC vehicle as a kid, no one I knew could. We'd just stare at the kits in Beatties and dream. Now at the age of 49 I've built a Plasma Edge II, a Lunchbox and acquired a crawler, all in just over a year. This is more addictive than building bicycles. I think I need to stay away from Otley and Rawtenstall for a while..............
  11. Quick update. I went to look at the Hobao VSe and it's an amazing bit of kit. I don't think I could settle for a plastic chassis 1/10th scale equivalent after seeing both side by side. However, after adding the cost of new batteries and remembering how much fun I enjoyed building the Plasma Edge, I had what I believe is referred to as a ''moment of clarity'. £400 is a bit much for me at the moment. I'm a novice and think I need a bit more experience before making such a big commitment. So I'm buying a Lunchbox. ? I've read the big thread and think I'd probably have just as much fun for less than half the price, even with some nice upgrades. So, a Lunchie, spare Midnight Pumpkin body, some alloy body mounts, nice shocks, foams, AMPRO brace, a Sport Tuned motor and bearing kit. I'm sure my 5 year old grand daughter will love it as much as I will. Once again, many thanks for all the advice, I'll stick some pictures up on the big Lunchie thread once built. Only question is do I buy it now and get the 2CV as a Christmas present or hold on for a couple of months? RossMod have the kit at a very reasonable price, so I think I already know the answer to that one. ?
  12. Thanks for your responses. Looks great, but a bit much for me at UK prices, tbh. Not sure about Traxxas, tbh. They do seem a bit pricey for what you get, plus I'm not keen on their business practices. May well make a lot of sense if I decide to go secondhand though. Hyper VSe looks excellent for the cash, it's on the list. ? I'm just up the road from RossMod, so will pop in and have a chat, see what they advise. Much appreciated.
  13. Hiya. 49 year old relative newbie with a Tamiya Plasma Edge, a gift from my wife last Christmas. Amazingly, I've not broken it yet. ☺️ It's been jumped on by grand-kids, chased by dogs and still works. So, 40 year Tamiya itch scratched (Until Christmas, at least, when I'm hoping Santa is going to bring me an M series 2CV). However, fancy something a bit more capable for bashing and general naughtiness. Live next door to a huge park with lots of varied surfaces and big wide open spaces, so speed appeals too. My requirements: Good quality. Tough. Decent handling. Fast. Repairable, with decent spares support. Much better ground clearance than my TT02B. Under £300 complete with electronics and controller if poss. Happy with kit or rtr. And I'd like it to look good. ? After reading lots of great advice on here over the last year or so, a couple of models really appeal, namely the HPI Firestorm/Blitz Flux and the Team Associated Trophy Rat. Like the idea of trying to master 2wd and both seem to get excellent reviews. I'm aware HPI have had their issues and the Firestorm/Blitz are older models, but they seem to have lots of support and would appear to suit my needs. The Trophy Rat could be a bit more fragile, but much newer, so possibly spares will be available for a longer time? Not tied to a particular style but would like decent ground clearance and the ability to handle some rough stuff. Not really interested in a crawler and I don't think I know enough to buy secondhand. I'd prefer to buy from a real shop. All advice and alternative suggestions very welcome. Thanks in advance.
  14. Hiya! After 49 years I finally got my first RC car this Christmas, a Tamiya Plasma Edge II buggy. ☺️ Loved building the thing, enjoying playing with it even more. It's survived being jumped on by small grandchildren, crashed into kerbs and my appalling newbie driving & maintenance skills. Have also applied to joined a club (Bury Metro), just waiting to eventually hear back from them. Enjoyed reading the forum, had lots of great advice and very good service from Rossendale Models and from some friends from another forum who also happen to post here (waves at Wiggles and Northwind). Could never afford an RC as a kid, had to be content with drooling over the Tamiya boxes on the shelves of Beatties in Manchester. Thoroughly enjoying my midlife crisis so far and already looking for a second model to complement the Tamiya. Addictive, innit?
