  1. Another run out, another spur gear eaten. Getting a little tired of this now, 3 spurs in as many months. Total run time probably an hour. I think the car is gonna go to the local RC shop for them to check it over, summat ain't right. Could running the Bugsta wheels be putting too much stress on the drive train? Only mod to the drivetrain has been the metal prop.
  2. Hi mate, great listing thanks. I'm looking at the kit version of the 10.2 also, as my first crawler and (relative to my ftx outlaw) first decent/high end car. Question, that motor you list isn't waterproof is it? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  3. Class. Mind, I ordered the 23t pinion instead of the 17t recently, as I didn't read the parts breakdown properly. #facepalm So I have spare 23t pinions. Helpfully. Not. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  4. Looks nice. But wider track now? Mates have the grey Landie copy and the blue Toyota look a like. And they roll roll roll as soon as they traverse. But wheel weights have been added and apparently things are much better now. For £140 they are great fun. But the Mauler promises to be the next step up for pocket change extra. So I'm hanging out for that, so I can offset their extra few months practice with a better car haha Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  5. Ahh the joys of a spares box many years deep I suspect Mauler looks to have all the right spec for not a lot of money. Mates have bought the Outback which are ok, enough for me to see the challenge in crawling, but far too light and far too narrow gauge so roll easy and bounce too much. Mauler is much wider and heavier. It may not have the sophistication of a £400 crawler but, hell, it'll do for winter fun for sure.
  6. I certainly will be, end of Sept once u guys have all reviewed it. Keep eyeballing the Scx10 II but it's proper chatty money for something slow. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  7. What's the end aim, Westerly? I've lost the plot completely! Haha Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  8. Peeps, my mates have bought a pair of FTX Outbacks each, so while I wait to see how the Mauler is received, I'm gonna take the Outlaw to the party. Gate-crash as you'd expect an outlaw to do. My question to you, is whether there is anything else I should change on the ESC via the program card? I'm upping the drag brake for those steep descents, and taming the initial acceleration settings. I think I read somewhere that the motor timing option can be changed for better low speed performance? It's stock at moment. I'm running a std brushless car, and I may take the Bugsta wheels off (wider and lower-profile than stock) and return to the stock wheels for their narrower track (better grip?) and higher profile (better cushioning?). Ta guys, and I'll let you know how it gets on.
  9. Tell yourself it's a knock off copy, not the original. Works for me. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  10. Yeah mines real loose too. Assumed it was as per. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  11. Yup sure does. Esp what appears to be an ally chassis and multiple options for wheelbase length and internal organ placement. Considering its looking like thirty quid more than the Outback models it seems a big step up from them. Well Al least to this crawler noob. Mates just bought an outback so will be watching that on Thursday. However this looks the one for me. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  12. Oh and the brushed had red body decals, the brushless is blue. Minor detail but important to the more vain amongst us (hello!). And as a biker of old, the blue one is very Suzuki Gsx-r like in colour. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  13. You guys just talked me into that Turnigy, John. Prob rude not to add some new blue bits to the steering while it's on the bench right? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  14. Amen Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  15. Seems there isn't one solution, which is why more than one car is the norm..... Haha. Cursed hobby #shakesfist I'll prob leave mine (stock brushless) alone, it runs at walking pace happy enough which is slow enough for my right now. Im a believer that most obstacles are solved by big wheels and enthusiasm (joking, if any dedicated crawler finds that naive). It gets dusty and mucky regularly so anything sensitive to getting dirty isn't gonna work for me. And I like her pawing the air like a puppy chasing a fly. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  16. Holy armoured buggy Batman!! That's way too cool to be thrashing about I agree. I gotta get creative on mine. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  17. And yes, maybe mine will get a run out. The Bugsta wheels are a big improvement with high speed performance esp on tarmac and removing the spare help tame wheelies. It's far too heavy to be hanging off the back. But it does act as good crash protection, so it goes on for tougher play. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  18. Isn't a sensored set up the answer per John's previous posts and images? Defo considering that for my stock brushless. As a noob I'm unsure about the effects on the rest of the drive train etc but I'm picking up that brushed gives better low speed performance, brushless better high speed and sensored is combo. 19. Yeah was planning tape, wasn't sure if it would add too much weight or unbalance it and cause probs down the line. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  20. Alright so one of the metal drive shaft grub screw in closeup. It's the one out of the inner section. Technically, I'm hoping someone can wade in with the specifics. But here's the actual item prior to being installed. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  21. A right PIA isn't it? I have the new metal drive shaft today and when I get home I'll measure the pesky blighters. I've also ordered 3 bags of the various grub screw sizes mentioned in the parts listing (amongst others) from Amazon. Last time the grub was still in the end of the shaft which went flying, but this time not and its in a field so gone forever.
  22. That's the one I was talking about yes
  23. And I'd recommend stocking up on the shaft's grub screws if mine is anything to go by. Twice I've Loctited them in, twice they've come out. Always at the gear end. Now I've ordered a whole spare metal shaft, and bags and bags of grub screws.....
  24. LOL well I dunno. Both? My plan is to get the FTX front brace for the Vantage I think it is, again listed on a previous page, and some of the battery tray braces to add one to the rear top suspension mounts. Prob plastic ones to add bracing without completely removing flex for hard landings.
