Yea, that and the suspension coming out and overall it just didn't feel as stable. I've been using it more on car parks recently with my boy and I find the stock wheels are better for that. Looks wise I like the buggy wheels better but performance wise for hard bashing and such I think stock. For now
My front bulkhead set and font a arms arrived today. Rcgeeks was the only place, literally, on the internet that had the bulkhead set in stock. 2 days from order to delivery. Awesome.
So that's all fixed, hopefully now I'll be able to get more than 1 minutes run time.... Until I break something else anyway. And reverted back fully to standard 12mm hex wheels as buggy ones seemed to cause more issue than is worth bothering with.
Anyone want a set of 1/8th buggy wheels and tyres? Lol
Personally my firestorm is silly on 3s so I run 25/87 gearing on 2s and that's plenty fast for bashing etc. I've used the same gearing on 3s and it's definitely ... Interesting lol. You could also try the 77t spur for the blitz to run something like 23-25/77 which would be fun on 2s.
I'd say it'll probably be okay but maybe see if there's something you can do to extend the motor guard? I can see if it takes a landing at a wrong angle and hits something, it'll do some reet damage. Looks nice though lol.
I've done some damage today ... I need to make a couple of orders. I'm guessing rpm a arms and an aluminium brace .... Don't know the parts name as my manual is walkabout ATM. Pics here.
Recommendations?
The reason i went for my GoolRC combo in the first place was because I'm still new in the hobby and wanted to get into brushless without spending too much due to .... Well life lol.
I guess you can say you get what you pay for, but there are good and bad in all products no matter the price. Look at the thread by Rowley and his HW sc8 esc. His was a piece of ass, yet others swear by them.
For me I'm more than happy with my GoolRC combo and consider it a bargain.
Mines been excellent. I got the 4300kv 60a esc and motor combo. Does exactly what it should. I know a few other people have had similar combos and found them to be decent too.
The esc fan seems to provide decent cooling, not that the esc has ever got even remotely warm. The motor seems sound, and again has only ever got slightly warm ....Just slightly.
It does shift some weight slightly i guess but barely anything in the grand scheme of things. It's not that big of a deal but in future i was going to move it more towards being a road car and getting something new to bash off road.
With the body on it doesn't look so narrow. I like it.
And i take it off road plenty i just clean it well lol. Warm shower, wipe down with spare rags, another rinse. Then fully dried, gt85 on metal parts and wiped down, then all golden.
So i took it out today. Having power issues. The hw wp-sc8 says 2-4s lipo. I've set it to auto detect and i think my batteries are falling short power wise. Using a 4000mah zippy 30c 2s. I press full throttle and sometimes it just sluggishly jerks forward. I had this issue before with my old esc and a NiMH battery. Is it simple battery sag?
So I'm thinking of adding some weight to the front of my car as it's so weighted to the rear.
Any tips / tricks for the best way to do it without strapping chunks of lead to it. Thanks.
with the above mentioned servo, I'm hesitant because of the plastic gearing. Has anyone found it to be a hinderance at all? or is it perfectly fine for some decent bashing? (given the price i'd probably buy a couple anyway).
The only thing with the tamiya kits is you need to buy your own servo, tx and rx. and i know i'd end up getting either **** ones or just messing them up some how lol.
Surely if you were wanting a speed upgrade you would be changing out the esc/motor/gearing anyway, so the varient of the same chassis doesn't really matter?
Really it boils down to which you like the look of most as all the components you mentioned can be upgraded.
I've been looking about and seen this. Will it work with my old stock hpi firestorm esc? Cause if so that's a right saving for me.

Sounds good to me. He'll be on stock for a while anyway until he learns how to steer properly lol. But I'll take a look into them more good to know hop ups like the metal gears are readily available etc. Tamiya is seeking like my best bet.
Always good to know for sure. How fiddly are the kits? I mean I'm sure I'll be fine with one and hopefully get him helping with some of the easier parts.
What're they like durability wise for bashing?
Cheers
So, it's my son's birthday in a few, he's definitely decided on a buggy style RC.
I've been looking through threads on here left right and centre but there is so much indecision on what's decent and what's not.
He is very keen on the look of the vantage and the arrma mega buggy shown below.
I've heard varying reviews of the vantage and also heard arrma aren't in good shape at the moment?
Are there any similar models around the £100 price range like these that have the same style. I've looked at a few tamiya but they're not to his taste apparently. He likes the aggressive look. He won't be bashing it too hard anyway, but decent spares availability is a must lol.
Cheers folks.
