  1. Mine also has 12 turn stamped on the end of the can next to the kv rating.
  2. Absolutely brilliant kit to build, the quality of parts and machining is outstanding! Good choice! I'm using a 3300kv Leopard brushless 60A combo in mine, on 2S. I was going to use an old Kyosho Le Mans 360 brushed motor (550 size can) which I've had for what seems an eternity. But decided to go for a bit more speed..
  3. I find them uncomfy with my size frame anyway, I'm just too big for them. The only one I can sit in comfort on which I've ridden, is the zzr1400 (I WANT ONE!!) has a nice long squab, which I found I was sat balls-up against the tank when pootling through town, then when you gun that throttle - tunnel vision begins and I noticed my arse had slid backwards along the squab to its stop where the pillion rise is. Then I thought, ah this is good, I'm tucked down behind the screen. Suits someone who's 6'5" however the R1, which I really really like, was just too painful for my back and right knee after 25mins. I had to get off and swap bikes with my mate after I'd let the blood flow back down my legs again. I've ridden all the sporty bikes and I couldn't find any of them comfy enough to warrent buying one, perhaps the R1 has the most spacious ergonomics for me out them all. Going from that though back on to my Bandit, felt like a sofa, I felt exposed haha..
  4. Hahaha looking at the bottom pic there, that's what my eldest daughter did to mine a few years back I took a white R1 (2014) out for a test ride a few years back - the sound was out of this world... I could listen to the crossplane crank all day - but my back n knee would pay dearly for that pleasure.
  5. @yoodoo you love those things! Lol what size are they? Since reading your posts about them I've always been on the lookout for one, but can't find any, they're like rocking horse poop!
  6. I'm a weekly checker too! I've gotten to know how the Bandit behaves on the maxxis tyres now when the pressures begin to drop, especially on the front end..
  7. They certainly looked scrubbed in! The amount of miles you do though it's probably still cost beneficial to fit decent used tyres, considering the regularity of punctures you're likely to get during that period too. I can imagine I'd be brassed off fitting a new set of tyres, then have a puncture and find out it's unrepairable, then have to fork out another 150-200 beer tokens for another tyre.. so probably does make sense to find bargains like that. Though I think it would still be wary when riding, even after checking its condition throughly with the fitter.
  8. Cheers for that, seeing those has just given me a sudden hankering for custard-filled donuts!
  9. I'll second that! They can certainly handle a good prang, I found that out at my first outing at the club with it. Was down there last night actually, first time in ages, excellent fun. I'll need to fit new front tyres soon as it's suffering a bit of understeer now. Mines running a 4300kv on 2S with 120a esc, with 11t pinion. Might try it on 3S next time!
  10. Yeah sounds like fun, I'm running 3800kv on 3S with 120A esc, and 23t pinion. To put it simply - it shifts...
  11. Normally 3 or 4 centimetres (if we're lucky!!)
  12. We've had a massive thaw this morning, all the snow has gone Gone quite warm here now.....boooo bring back the winter weather! I'll have to a mooch around for a pair of heated gloves!
  13. @evssv liking those heated gloves!! Do they plug into a 12v socket? Well I made it home, took 6hrs in the end, mental traffic. Was cold from Blackpool down towards Wrexham, then it went noticeably freezing cold after that Got to Aberystwyth on the coast and it started snowing ha! Never seen snow on that coast road before in my life.. snowing along the coast for another 20miles, roads were still ok though. Just a few patches in the middle where it was beginning to stick. The Diamond Cut tyres really did come into their own! After so long I have to turn off the coast road to head south again and go over the Presseli Mountains and down into where I live, it really was coming down thick n fast then. Compact snow on the roads!! WOOHOO!!! I stopped on the top and it was so peaceful, no wind, snow coming down hard, was nice I was so impressed with the bike, managing to climb up on hard snow. Kept it in a higher gear, barely touching the throttle and it trundled up. Then a low gear and slight rear brake every now n then when going down on the other side! Great fun. dreading to see the state of the bike this morning when the sun comes up lol Billy will need a dam good cleaning today!
  14. It's definitely the way to go! And with the big bore kit it'll really make a difference. I tried joining the Bandit forum a while back but couldn't register for some reason...?!
  15. The camshafts had been changed, so that coupled with the stage-3 dynojet kit, timing advance, denso iridium plugs, full exhaust n cone filters, and the head ported and polished. And there's a clear difference riding it using Shell & Esso superunleaded as opposed to normal unleaded... Not sure how much all that cost to do, but it's easy enough I guess, cams being trickiest! I abolutely love it, it's a pleasure to ride and really responsive, and is quite happy pootling around at slow speeds too, no jerkyness at all, surprisingly smooth and not lumpy
  16. I got my son (who's also 10) an ECX Amp buggy. He used it brushed for a short while, saw the difference between mine (which is brushless) and wanted his converted straight away. So it's also brushless and he can handle it no problem at all! Decent buggy
  17. It was oringally green and gold, found out Suzuki UK only had 500 of them in that colour scheme shipped in. I've still got the original green tank and body bits, bought another tank, front Mud guard and fairings (body, whatever it's called lol) and prepped me for spraying mat black. It's going to go Gloss Black over winter hopefully! It's got Barnett springs in it, two of em. I only changed the clutch in March this year. The original was slipping a bit, so out went the old and in went the new. Even with two springs in I can't notice any difference in the feel of the lever, still nice n plush, easy to operate. And in the green:
  18. This is my bike, Billy Bandit!
  19. Personally I've not come across any dirt within the gearbox?! If you open it for whatever reason, just make sure it's totally seated properly and screwed down later, as I'm sure you would. Mine was only brushed for a few weeks and running 3S, with a different ESC. Stock motors have been renowned for burning out, again, mine didn't, but who knows when it would've... Otherwise, it's a decent RC out the box. Aswell as going brushless very soon in its life, I also changed some of the plastic parts to the alloy options FTX have, to eliminate/prevent any slop which would develop (hubs and so on). From what I've done to it I'm chuffed to bits with it, excellent fun offroad!
  20. Funny you put up the link to the oil cooler. Mine came with the stock Suzuki-Denso cooler, but seen as the bike had had a power hike from 100 to 140, Steve (my mate who owned it before me) upped the oil pressure to help with the power increase. After a few months of my ownership I began to notice the odd little drop of oil on the ground directly underneath where the lowest (when it's leaning stood still) oil pipe connection is. Eh oh... so I thought perhaps the little o-ring within the fitting was beginning to weep. Changed that, still the same. On closer inspection (and cleaning it up to be honest) when running the engine at idle I saw it beginning to collect on the upper side of the lowest oil gallery on the cooler, d'oh! it was beginning to crack... I replaced the cooler for an identical denso unit, 6 months later it did the same thing. then when it did go, it went BIG TIME!!! BOOM SPLURRRRT ewwwww... all over me leg!! the back end really was lively then hahaha... coming through the Mersey tunnel aswell, luckily I made it to the top. I had another spare Denso cooler at home, so fitted that while I sourced an upgraded universal cooler. I can only assume that the uprated oil pressure had exceeded the max safe operating pressure of the Suzuki-Denso cooler, and it eventually begins to fracture. I bought the uprated cooler, which is physically larger with bigger galleries and bores too, and according to the oil sump filler plug temp gauge it have it's also reduced the oil temps a little in slower town traffic, still maintain around 70°C on a constant journey, and high 70's early 80's in traffic. Whereas before it used to surpass 100°C
  21. Deffo go for a set of cams, it'll open a broader range of what to do then. Once the external mods are done and you reach a ceiling with it, I'd then go for cams which opens the doorway a bit more, then get the best out of those cams. I've seen some video's of Bandits notching up n around 160hp - and that's not changing pistons and cranks The popular Bandit mod is to fit jixer cams and carbs, but then you're going away from what the Bandit is then, end up with basically the old screaming GSXR1150, but a naked (or half faired) version. I really enjoy it's off-the-line grunt, and lazy "I don't have to cog down to accelerate" acceleration
  22. Mine's had allsorts done to it by the former owner, popped up 140.2bhp on the rolling road anyway just before he sold it to me. And it's torque is immense! It's not got stock or jixer cams but has these meatier set for duration, not sure what they are?? I know externally it's got Stage 3 Dynojet, 4 cone filters, full stainless 3" Scorpion system, 5 degree timing advance, and then oodles of allsorts inside the engine. Great fun indeed!
  23. The lowest I've seen my Bandit's tank was perhaps a t-cup full, in the lowest section at the rear end of the tank. From peering in when sat at the pump the front main flat area inside was bone dry EEK!!
  24. Strewth all these messages posted up today while I've been sleeping haha... yeah dodgy game gambling with your fuel tank lol thankfully tomorrow I'll have a northerly wind up my chuff all the way home, so no head-on wind which'll make a nice change! So hoping I'll be putting less fuel in the tank at Newtown tomorrow late afternoon. I used to have a BMW G540X (until it was robbed) which has an 8ltr fuel tank, do was good for around 110miles at a push. Using that to ride up from mine to Heysham to join a ship, I ended up making an additional fuel tank in work out of aluminium which I mounted on top at the back. Where the rear grab handle is I made a bracket which screws to the two lugs, nice n secure. The tank was another 8ltrs, so I could get all the way to Heysham without having to stop! I simply ran the fuel supply from the new tank directly into the vent of the bikes main tank, with a new vent in the cap of the new tank. So effectively it became a header tank! Liking the big bore kit there @evssv what cc does it take it to?
  25. I always have to stop for fuel in Newtown on the way back, it doesn't need it by then, but there's no fuel station for another 45 miles after that...and it's teetering on whether I'd make it or end up pushing, and literally no one around to help either, you're in "the hills have eyes country" around there haha.... Each trip I always think, hmmmm should I try make to Aber'?....... Possibly it could make it using near enough all its reserve, if I'd have been polite on the throttle coming down (but that's not gonna happen) so I always chicken out, ha!
