    AJ's 5ive T

Nothing to do with the OTT servo you have on the brakes? Although the 5ive stock brakes are on a cam type design aren't then? Looks like that is forcing one side of the pad into the disk more than the other.
  2. Yeah the pipe came with the truck I've never used one before, the rear mount does seem strange
  3. Yeah barts are great pipes, my first 5ive had one with a pro mx g320. Although if I change the samba on mine it will be for the VRC pipe, they seem to go great with the obr tuned engines.
  4. Pretty sure Paul at obr uk has some VRC pipes
  5. I ordered from freeprawn Thursday morn and got the bits Friday. The exhaust must not be instock.
  6. It was for sale for 15 quid because it's worth 15 quid bud.
  7. Agreed a k100/kpro really wakes them up, although a plated LSD has to be my best mod. Mine was a tidy red Anniversary until I pulled it to bits.
  8. Still here full thing will be for sale as you see it here, clutch, pinion, carrier, airfilter, carb etc £50 now
  9. Stripped this down abit today while I had half hour free. That leaky diff has left a right mess. Apart from that it seems a well looked after truck, not one loose, rounded, cross threaded or over tightened screw insight. Love the 5ive chassis, it comes apart so easily. I also took that nasty wrap off the exhaust, anything that's good to clean up the "raw" finish now ?
  10. Just upgraded my engine order from a g320 to a g340. Being sent out on Monday
  11. I understand what you mean spillidge good thinking, I will do that on all diffs. Last bits arrived today. Just waiting for my engine now.
  12. Ive got the boots for them in the spares box, they will be getting fitted when I rebuild it. I'll have a look at the flm set cheers.
  13. What would you determine as half worn ? As you se the centre diff front one looks bad, almost like it's going to throw the pin out at a certain angle, and the tears are pretty worn. I'd imagine it would last a while still I just don't want them on my truck lol. I looked for the losi replacement and there 28quid a pair ! No way. RCmodelz sell the x2 outdrives for 7each so I may give them a try.
  14. I was intrigued with the area RC diff/brake setup so decided to open it and build it quickly. Very nice but of kit, nice machining and a clever setup with the piston type design (see first picture.) We we'll see how well it works out in the field. I did have to rub down two of the pads due to them binding on the disk on one side, it seemed they just weren't machined enough. Overall nice bit of kit for the price but I'll keep some rcrs and modified RC diff holder in my basket at DDM just incase. I have noticed the outdrives on all the diffs are abit worn, is there an aftermarket replacement or is it best buying stock ones?
  15. somehows and somekinds don't work in RC mate.
  16. I think you need to have a read around the forum Blackhole and look at other people threads to see what RC is all about and what it takes to get a decent setup. Youve just bought random bits that will in no way fit the RC in question. Hobbyking have so ok beginners kits and are bottom of the hobbygrade price range. Look on their site. When you find a RC you like the looks off, google it, watch videos or ask on here what people think of it, and what experience they have had with them. You could of saved yourself £50 if you did this first.
  17. Ok so the truck turned up today, everything seems good apart from a broke fuel pipe and leaky centre diff. No problem as I've got new fuel lines and planned on re-building all the diffs anyway (fell like they still have stock oils) The truck also came with a nice box of spares and a screw kit which is a bonus. More parts turned up too. Can't wait to get it stripped down and rebuilt, I've missed having a 5ive and I forgot how big they where !
  18. Best cleaner to remove anodising ?

      .AJ.

I've used mr muscle oven cleaner and it works really well

    2. locky

      locky

Dont leave it in too long otherwise can eat into surface, check every 5 mins. Bit of scrubbing sometimes necessary and repeat, then polish and buff.

      losi8igh

Caustic soda works as well apparantly but dont leave the item in long as it the metal as well from what i have read and can leave pitting on the surface.

It is also very nasty stuff and the fumes are dangerous as well.

Make sure you do it outside and wear protection,I splashed a little drop on my arm once by accident when using it to unblock a sink and it is very painful, even a little drop burns.

  19. Looks good, did you get any pictures of the porting ?
  20. First parts delivery of the project came today, only a small one, the 5ive should come tommorow. I've also got several bits on the way like a savox, bartolone clutch carrier, Vertigo hex drive and 22t pinion, area RC centre diff housing (cheap and worth a try) etc. OBR engine will be early next week hopefully.
  21. 5ive should be here on friday, obr engine early next week. Looking forward to the weekend strip down.

  22. Come to sell the slash and I'm sure lots of people will be interested, come to sell the hellion or whatever it's called and I think you would struggle.
  23. I had both sets of drivers so it didn't bother me, I found it quite classy acctually ?
  24. I used to love slashes, sc10, blitz's etc. I really got bit by the short course bug when then came out. Then I bought my first 5ive and never looked back. Lol Seriously tho slashes are great, insanely fast out the box and pretty tough ! One of those rcs that will always put a smile on your face. Great bashing RC. SC10 is like its finer tuned awesome handling mate, much better for racing, but I've never bashed one. I loved the SCTE too (I've had most variants), tough as hell and ofcourse built on that awesome losi chassi. Have a look at the Troy lee designs one, looks a great RC. Way better fun bashing Short course that 1/8 buggys in my opinion.
